Need help to learn how to create templates

I've been playing around with creating cards in photoshop over the last few days and have realised how useful it would be for me to create templates of the designs I come up with so that I can quickly produce different versions of the same basic card. Is this very difficult to do? If so, maybe I'll just wait till I know my way around the software a bit better. :P If it's not too horrendous, could anyone help me out with a few instructions or direct me to any tutorials on the subject?
