A new RAK list is in the process of being set up. If you would like to be included in the list please read the information below first of all. I will attempt - but cannot promise, to send the first new list out at the beginning of February.
Q: What is a RAK?
A: RAK stands for Random Act of Kindness. It is a gift that you send to (or may receive from) a UKScrapper.
Q: What is the RAK list?
A: The RAK list is a list of the names and addresses of UKScrappers that have opted to share their address details with one another. In this way, members can send and receive RAKs (secretly if they wish).
Q: When will I receive a copy?
A: The new RAK list will be in Excel spreadsheet format - for the time being, in order to get it up and running as quickly as possible. Once the new list is up and running, it will be sent out on a regular basis. (frequency to be determined later)
Q: What are the rules of RAKing?
A: There are no rules!
It is up to you who you RAK, when you RAK, what you RAK and how often you RAK. You may want to review your recipients likes and dislikes (which you can view in their public profile) first before sending a RAK to someone.
You can RAK anonymously if you wish or let the recipient know who you are. You can post your thanks for a RAK on the RAK Thanks forum, or PM the sender. Again there is no rule for thanking but thanks are nice! Please do not take credit for a RAK that you did not send!
Q: What information do I need to provide and where do I send it?
A: Your User ID, Name, Address, Postcode, Date of Birth, Your User Id number. This information should be sent by email only please. Please PM Sam (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/member.php?u=1353) for sign ups.
To easily locate your User ID number : Find a post that you have made, Click on your name above your avatar and a drop down box will appear, click on View Public Profile. In the address bar of your browser, a new address will appear at the end of which will be "u=..." the dots here represent the number that you will see. If you click on me for example, you will see "u=8" which means that I am user no. 8, my user ID number therefore is 8.
If you would like others to know of your likes and dislikes, please ensure that you have filled in these details in the space provided in your user profile. The RAK list will no longer link to the likes/dislikes thread but will instead link to your user profile - that is why I need you to provide me with your User ID number.
In order to fill in your details in your user profile : click on User CP on the red bar above, then click on Edit Profile. Scroll down until you see the box entitled RAK/PIF/WISH LIKES AND DISLIKES and type your information in there. (there is another box above which you can also use should you run out of room.)
Q: Is there anything else that I need to know?
A: By signing up for the RAK list you will receive a list of all the other UKScrappers willing to provide their addresses for the purposes of receiving RAKs. Therefore you must not use the list for any marketing purposes and ensure that the list is kept safe and secure at all times (i.e. do not print out this list and discard without first shredding etc).
To help maintain the security of the list we ensure that all requests to join are from members who are actively involved with UKScrappers and have a minimum post count/membership time (300 posts/3months membership). This is to stop people joining the day they join UKScrappers, taking all the addresses and then never coming back!
