Lol newbielou - my Advent Santa sent a fab gift this morning too - I got some AMM charms which I really love but are hard to find at the moment so I was really pleased too.

I still can't believe I am wrong about who my Santa is though - I was really sure lol - I am off to try some more detective work

Hi Rebecca - Hope your swap is going well and you are getting nice pressies.

Lorraine - Well done. I am obviously a rubbish detective lol. I was 100% conviced but now I'm stuck. I might have to wait until Christmas

I don't know Emma you can't keep secrets and you can't find them out either
I was lucky in that I had chatted to my SS so recognised the sense of humour:)

Lol Lorraine - you are right. I wasn't too bothered yesterday when I thought I knew but now I know that I don't know, I want to know IYSWIM

Hi Rebecca - Hope your swap is going well and you are getting nice pressies.
Emma x

Yes my swap does seem to be going well, I did ask for all scrapping stuff, but with the exception of the first day (which was a tad dissapointing) the rest have been great. Even the chocolate angels - the kids loved them. :D The time taken to wrapping and tagging them is very much appreciated too....

Emma Jane
05-12-2006, 10:54 AM
Ellie - the list is on the first page of the first Red Ribons Chat forum. (I already looked and even put them in alphabetical order to see if there was an obvious pattern to how they were swapped but I couldn't see one). Its such a curse being an impatient nosey person - I am going to spend days on this

Rebecca - Glad yours is going well. I love reading our thread each day as e1 seems genuinely pleased with their pressies. It feels very festive :)

not wanting to get all down and depressing, but I've heard from a couple of people now who aren't at all happy with the gifts they've been getting. It's taken the edge off the whole swap for me :( I'm honestly delighted with the things my Santa has sent  but now feel a bit guilty! maybe I worry too much?

Fairysparkle
05-12-2006, 11:15 AM
Oh Becky thats a real shame:(
You don't have any responsibility for what people have sent so should not feel guilty:)
I just wonder if people have misunderstood things or done it the cheapest they can and didn't matter who they got swapped with.
I am happy with my gifts and my swappee seems very pleased with her gifts too .
The Scrap-happy chicks are thinking we will do ours within our team next year tho as we know each other pretty well now :)

SuzieR
05-12-2006, 11:20 AM
Oh Becky, don't feel guilty! It really isn't your fault - you have no control over what peopel send! (((hugs)))
I am happy with what I've received so far, and my swappee seems pleased with what she has - I hope she's being honest!
Also, sorry to read that Ali's parcel has still not arrived.

Emma Jane
05-12-2006, 12:16 PM
Becky - Don't feel bad. Its not your fault at all. The rules and suggestions and tips are all pretty clear so you don't have any control over what people send
Also with the swap there's a lot of interpretation involved eg I love bazzill but I bet there are colours of bazzill that I would hate or I love BG but not some of their designs so unless e1 submits an actual shopping list some things are going to be slightly off although well intended IYSWIM

Of course the ones that are genuinely disappointing (like where someone hasn't spent the minimum amount or sent enough pressies) are bad but again its not your fault at all.

I have been very lucky and love my pressies and my Santa has been very thoughtful and my swapee has also said that she likes hers too.

Becky hun try not to let it get you down , I have one lady in my group who is , and quite understandably, not happy. Unfortunately not everyones perceptions of suitable things are the same, and it also seems that some people have taken much notice of likes and dislikes. Whilst I am absolutely delighted with mine and my swappee sounds as though she is happy with hers, I do feel for those whose swap experience isnt as they hoped....

going back to knowing who our santas are i thought my swapiehad gussed who i was but it appears she got it wrong haha!! so maybe im not so bad at keeping secrets after all LOL!!

Sorry to hear parcels are still on the loose. I automatically sent mine Special del only cos my CJ went missing earlier this year so have so trust in RM. I hope they turn up soon.

I'm happy with my parcel i'm not too fussy really. And I beleive my swapee is happy with her's. Although on somedays it may appear small it's cos i spent more on other days. I'm fairly certain i over spent. So Becky do not worry you and Nina are doing a great job.

4kidsat147
05-12-2006, 03:35 PM
It's not something you can both control at all......it's a risk you take with some of these things (though that doesn't make it right), and I've been stung before.

This time even though I did have disspointment the first day I could tell by the wrapping and time taken that it was probably just a like/dislike kinda thing and the days since are just great. :) My swappee also seems to like what she's getting so all is good here. :D

julieann
05-12-2006, 03:37 PM
I think i might know who my Santa is but noy going to say yet I could be wrong though.

Anyone else guessed?

Emma Jane
05-12-2006, 03:44 PM
Well I know that the label on the back of the parcel matches the address of a poster here (not Nina or Becky but soemone in the Red Ribbons swap itself) but apparently that lady is not my secret Santa so that is why I am so stuck. Maybe if I could figure out who might use her addy (or if I'd looked at the post mark) I'd be a bit closer to guessing lol

Lorraine in my team guessed hers because of her Snata's sense of humour. Julieann - what clues do you have?

Emma x

katy75
05-12-2006, 03:48 PM
Am sure that I know mine ;)

I am so sorry for people who have been disappointed. I was nervous and am so glad my person seems pleased with their bits and bobs on the whole. It is hard to buy for someone you don't know - I took the view of would I be happy with that item or this item when shopping. Certainly not your fault anyone is upset Becky, but people should have used recorded as specified.

Am loving my gifts Santa x

05-12-2006, 04:04 PM
I have been really pleased so far and I think my swappee is by their comments. I sent recorded delivery over a week before and kept checking royal mail website to see if it had been delivered. Even up to 8 days after it said it hadn't been delivered according to royal mail but I knew my swappee had it coz they posted. I think with recorded alot of postmen don't bother with signatures so I would look to send special delivery next time for my piece of mind as that is guarenteed next day. My problem was that my parcel weighed over 2kg so they wanted £18 for SD so I went home and took all the bubble wrap out to make it under 2kg and it actually cost £8 something for recorded. I tried to make sure everything was still well wrapped though. With the price increases it is a nightmare. I would make sure everyone knows to allow for alot for postage next year.

Thank you Santa - I am loving all of my pressies and really appreciate all the effort you have gone to (especially getting a Ferrero Roche everday and my little piggie tags :) )

Well to be perfectly honest im one of the ones that is not happy with what ive received....i like the chocolate. phone charm and a bag of rikrak but thats about it...(i dont like stickers (huge pile), beads (3 bags) plus some jolee type stickers and 8x8 stuff(only scrap in 12x12). I honestly believe that she hasnt taken into account my likes/dislikes and sent me a load of C*$P from her own stash. So i really dont think i will be taking part next year but i will volunteer to host again cause ive really enjoyed that part of the swap....and i think that the lady who has received mine is genuinely happy so far...

Nina - sorry to hear that you've not got things you like or can use :(
I've never done an advent swap before so I don't know if this is a typical year for late or disappointing parcels but it is very sad to hear of the people who haven't enjoyed it. Hopefully she has started off small and the presents will get better over the next couple of weeks

Sorry you have a rubbish parcel Nina, I had that for the birthday swap - I just gave it all to DD as it was loud, cheap and everything I had said I disliked - it's just so disappointing. Maybe next time you should choose your swappee!!

Dear AliTS

Big apologies from up here in the cold North Pole , my elves and I have just been so busy sorting out lots of kiddies pressies but I wanted to let you know that we havent actually sent your parcel off yet , so you must have a nice little surprise awaiting your collection.
However, the elves have now tracked down a suitable packaging device to ensure safe delivery of parcel number 12 , it should be sent tomorrow or friday at the latest and you will need to sign for it .
Santa is soooo pleased that you seem to be enjoying your pressies ! Sending you a big hug from Santa and all his helpers!

Julieann I've had a couple of people PM me asking if their swapee is happy, so no, not everyone is posting every day to day they're happy. That isn't to say they're not happy, just some people don't get online to post everyday, or if they are online not always got time to catch up with all threads they'd like to.

I'd just like to ask (nicely!) that everyone try to post on the daily threads, even if they're a few days late, or if they do several days in one post on one day (does that make sense?) :):)

If anyone want me to PM their swapee to check, let me know :)

Hi everyone - only just discovered this thread - I've been posting on the other thread ...'On the nth day of Chrsitmas ' ( what makes you think I've been doing algebra homework with my 12 year old tonight !! ).

Hmm .. wonder if I'm allowed to give any clues out as to who my swappee is ?... didn't put my name in the parcel and haven't been able to suss how to do the Advent Santa anonymous post thingy - every time I do that it won't let me back on as me !!!

Anyway, I'd just like to say that i'm loving my parcel and I'm so sorry that others aren't . I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I can't believe that anyone on UKS would offload horrible stuff or am I just naive ?? Might it just be that they have (very) different taste ?? having said that there's no excuse surely for people who haven't even read their swapee's likes and dislikes. I'd have been upset to have recieved peel-offs and fibres but luckily I've had really thoughtful gifts ... and today's was the cutest Miss Chatterbox bubble bath ... hmm she know me very well ! Better stop chatting and go put the kids to bed !
BTW - I've had computer problems this week - my PC keeps making this wailing noise like a car alarm if it's left on for more than a few minutes!! Had a sneaking suspicion that DH had fitted some kind of time alarm to get me off UKS !!! So sorry to my Santa if I haven't posted these last couple of days but that's why !

I've got no clues past the original packaging which had various markings on it which could be blind alleys or not - I have a sneeky suspicion but haven't checked yet - I think it will be more fun to find out on Christmas Day - assuming that the card has some identifying marks in it!! LOL

I love my Santa anyway :D

Forgot all about this thread!! I have been good and posted on the "day" one everyday though.
I don't want to know yet who my Santa is ... they are doing an outstanding job and I love what they've sent so it really doesn't matter what their name is ...they're a STAR!!!!
My swappee seems to like what I've sent...which is a huge relief.

according to the web site it's 15 days before considered lost, so nothing can happen for another day or so.... :(

Thanks for all the pressies Laura, sorry I haven't posted, didn't get on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, then working the Wednesday and got home from work to receive a phone call from MIL to say FIL had died dinnertime from a heart attack, totally unexpected.

Apologies again for not posting. I'll try and flit in and out and Fairysparkle will keep me posted and I'll keep her posted.

Sorry I've been a bit absent from this thread!

I'm glad you liked all your bits Ellie, I don't mind admitting I found it very difficult to wrap up the christmas kit and put it in the box to you! Hope your children are better now?

And HUGE thanks to my secret santa, new2this. My bits were fab too.

Nina and Becky, you've done a great job organising all this - thank you all so much!

Just got back from a fortnight away and I want to say THANK YOU to my lovely Santa - Allie T for all of my super presents !!

I've loved opening every one. You'd obviously gone to a lot or trouble finding out about what I love and my passion for PINK !!!! As a mum to 2 boys it's lovely to have a bit of feminine stash about the place. ADORE my Lippy Chick book by the way - I'm so looking forward to making it up - plan to do a highlights of Christmas book .

Thank you so much - you're FAB

The gift I had from Alix each day I took a photo of and put them in a book I made from envelopes they can be seen here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=107030&cat=500) and the clues I had each day are in my blog. I just wish I had done something similar last year!!
