You've been great answering all the polls and questions BUT I really need to ask a couple of questions.
You said No peel offs. does this mean anything with a sticky side?
I meant the gold / silver ones you can get. I cannot get on with them, but i do have some yummy black piasley ones so i am not totally averse to sticky things
What colour/style was your wedding day?
My dress was a simple a line number, my bridesmaids were in cream and two little flowergirls in baby pink. Dh wore a pink cravat( still not sure how i convinced him!!)
You don't mention flower's/blossoms. Do you love or loathe?
love, love, love!!!
Thank you

I'd like to send a message via Santa but I can't remember what you have to log in as ! I know there's a SANTA in there somewhere but was there anything else ?
Any advice on what yu do once you've logged on as Santa ? Last time I tried I couldn't log back on as me !!!
I'm done now ! What am I going to do with all my time now !
Box bought, presents wrapped, tagged with hints, just need to deliver !!

I think you log out and then log back in again as "Advent Santa" password xmas2006 (I think but I'll double check on the thread) and then you can post as santa and then you log out and reenter your own user name and password.
Just to be on the safe side before I logged out I changed my password to something easy to remember as I wasn't 100% of my original password (I am automatically logged on all the time lol so never use it). This way I was sure I wouldn't get stuck and unable to log in again. You can change your password via the User CP tab

Advent Season is almost upon us, your presents are wrapped and labelled I am however still shopping around to find that perfect Christmas Day gift, I'm going to ask a few more questions to make sure its something you'll love.
Santa knows you like blues and purples but would you say these are your favourite colours.
Is there anything you would like to try that you havn't tried yet?
Do you like to scrap other sizes besides 12x12, i've noticed you scrap smaller in page swaps but do you when its for yourself?
Santa knows you like alphabet stamps but do you like others aswell? If you do describe which you like.
Thank you Allie

OK Santa! :D
Santa knows you like blues and purples but would you say these are your favourite colours.
I  lilac the most, then teal.
Is there anything you would like to try that you havn't tried yet?
Nothing springs to mind, sorry :P
Do you like to scrap other sizes besides 12x12, i've noticed you scrap smaller in page swaps but do you when its for yourself?
I do mainly scrap 12x12, although I have an 8x8 album that I am doing for my husbands tank day that he had earlier this year & a 6x6 BOM, which has all of 1 page in it so far!!!
Santa knows you like alphabet stamps but do you like others aswell? If you do describe which you like.
I do have other stamps too, mainly for cardmaking (like Penny Black stamps), but really can't stand vintage, floral etc stamps.
Thank you Allie

Emma Jane
17-11-2006, 11:08 AM
Ali - Am happy to help too if I can :D
There is a poll about the Xmas day pressies on this forum and the majority said they wanted something stash related I think and also there is a thread where people have posted what they got or what they gave last year that might be good for some ideas.
I have also had people doing the advent swap PMing me asking for ideas about people who are in my team / crop groups etc (asking me to give suggestions on what to buy for their swapee) so if your swapee is in a team or a crop group, maybe you could PM someone who knows them in real life and ask for some ideas from them?

Free wrapping sounds fab. I must admit I wrapped all of mine in one go (and did the numbers etc as I went) and it took hours and I'm a hopeless wrapper lol.
Lol Ellie - I don't blame you for bagging them after all that. When I was a student I worked in the Christmas Dept of John Lewis one year and if I ever hear another set of musical novelty lights I will definitely scream lol. They played loads of them for 9 hours a day for weeks on end

Hi there...as I was cleaning out my workshop I noticed the elves did not enclose your card with your package. I will make sure it is sent out right away and you can put it with your gift for the 25th. Don't worry when it arrives you will know it is from me. I really must get more reliable elves...wonder if there are any around??

I think we should all show our DHs/OHs these posts and let them know that all they have to do this Christmas to keep us happy is wrap up 25 presents on a scrapbook related theme and we'd love them forever !!! How easy is that ??!! I'm still dining out on the stories of what my DH has bought me for Christmas over the years ...let's not even mention the egg poacher !
What's been your best /worst Christmas present ever ???
julieann
22-11-2006, 10:17 PM
The gift my DH will not hear the end of is not a christmas pressie but a birthday one. For my 30th I had a cheap handbag (which I wanted) but I had hoped to find a round object with a sparkle on it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since then I've been more direct in what I want. And I still remind him lol
kate2962
22-11-2006, 10:28 PM
men are NO good at taking hints they need telling direct.
my DH knows his life wouldn't be worth living if he got me a USEFUl gift for the house!!
I have an aunt who left her hubby when he bought her an electric toothbrush for christmas and then they got divorced!!
chocolate_ee
22-11-2006, 10:28 PM
I haven't let my DH hear the end of his worst Christmas blunder ever ... and there have been a few but this takes the biscuit.
We were going away for Christmas and deciding that one egg poacher was one too many, I'd better choose/buy/wrap my own presents which I dutifully did and presented them to him in a suitably Christmassy gift bag ready to load in the car. I think you can guess what happened!
Got to Christmas day and after everyone had opened theirs I asked what had happened to mine. Yes they were still sitting where I'd left them for him. Clearly the effort of actually picking up the bag and placing it in the car had overwhelmed him with responsibility !! They have a tough life don't they !
julieann
22-11-2006, 10:31 PM
Oh NOOOOOOOOOO I bet he daren't do that again.

My best pressie was an engagement ring. My ring had broke so I didn't wear one for a few years then I told my mate it would be nice to have an eternity ring instead. At xmas hubby gave me lots of pressies and I could tell they were my favorite thorntons fudges by feeling the wrappers. Anyway I opened the boxes and put them to one side. Phil kept telling me to have some fudge so eventually I did and there was a ring box inside with a diamond cluster ring in it> My original had been a ruby and he had picked it but I loved diamonds. Anyway later I opened another box of fudge to find another ring box with a new wedding ring in to match the cluster ring. We had only got cheap rings when we got married as it was all we could afford. It was the best day Ive had.

I'm still around, do I say wrapping presents or posting presents or posted presents, you will never know until later.
I always like new clothes to wear on Christmas Day and One year my darling DH decided to wrap them up and we don't open our Christmas presents until after lunch...........................................ne edless to say that one was opened before Church that morning and he hasn't tried doing since.
In his defence though last year he bought me a sizzlits alphabet which I wasn't expecting and I didn't even twig with the shape of the box.
Bought a camera in the summer between us, so we've agreed not to buy anything this year, one of the reason I joined the advent swap, but don't tell him that...... I had to get some scrapbooking pressies some how and I have enjoyed buying for my swapee aswell.

My DH is hopeless with presents - some of the worst being a sink plunger (I have long hair so when I moved in with him he bought me this for our first Christmas  ). Other bad presents from him include money in a card (less than he'd given the secretary and cleaner at his work as a Christmas bonus I might add  ) and a very strange asymmetrical see through white top that was about 8 sizes too big
Best Christmas pressie was a trip to Champneys with my Sisters and he did well for my 30th Birthday too (a stay at the Savoy in London and dinner at the Ivy and a necklace from Tiffanys all of which he kept as a complete surprise). Maybe after 6 years he guessed he was on thin ice

Ok you win hands down:lol: That beats the egg poacher !!
Sounds like he's getting better though !!
My Dad always used to give my Mum the same present every year which he used to call 'A portrait of the Queen' .... a £50 note in a picture frame !!
Here's my top 3 worst presents ever from DH... ( excluding the egg poacher !)
1. Jack for the car in case I got a puncture
2. A pen Knife ... yes a pen knife !
3.A bread bin ... and that was only last year
julieann
22-11-2006, 11:17 PM
I'm not taking anymore chances I've already told him that I want to go away for my 40th start saving. I fancy Paris, Georg V (SP?), Or florence or maybe Austria can't decide but I still have 2 years to go lol.
I've had to think really hard about Christmas pressie's I like surprises but end up buying my own. The worst thing I think he's ever brought was granny slipper's! i'm not difficult, he just doesn't listen. lol

My DH is always pretty good and did me a fab stocking full of scrapping bits and bobs last year. However a previous boyfriend once bought me one of those electronic organiser diary things - identical to the (unused!) one he had got me for my birthday in September!! We split up about a week later:lol:

This topic has made me chuckle! My worst pressie was probably a kettle which I got for our first xmas together. He has never lived it down so has chosen more wisely since. I got a sizzix alpha last year, but I did drop some major hints (i.e. sizzix catalogue on lounge table with big red circles around things I liked!!!). He got me a beautiful white gold and amethyst necklace the year before so he has improved a lot.
My mum is the queen of weird presents - blow up stegosaurus anyone???
Emma Jane

3.A bread bin ... and that was only last year
Lol that really made me laugh - I think that's definitely on a par with a sink plunger   I'm glad its not just my DH who's hopeless.
Katy - is a blow up stegasorus a family joke or was it just a totally random gift? Maybe I should do a bit more hinting this year as well. I could do with some sizzix dies :)

Nope Emma, just total randomness! Last year I got a light up pen with piglet on the top! She is just very, very quirky.
This xmas I got £50 to spend in Orlando so that obviously all went on scrapping!!! She will still have some unusual stocking fillers in store for me though :).

"You can't buy happiness but if you could it would be less than £300"
"Crafts Robos are great and Emma wants one for Christmas"
"See favourites list on computer for links to Craft Robos"

Lol Katy - Its the only way
Ellie - Hope your sink is fixed - a good thing to try assuming there's no water standig in it (or not too much) is bicarb of soda followed by white vinegar (or any vinegar really). Pour down the bicarb then the vinegar then leave for a few hours and it should unblock with any luck :)

I'm cracking up reading this thread.
I got a sandwich toaster for Valentines Day once  , but I've told everyone I ever met since so he's been suitably embarrassed, plus he brought me home a teatowel from a boys weekend away, before we were even engaged so maybe I should have twigged:lol:  Last year I got scrapping stuff even though it wasn't really what I would have chosen, but at least he tried! bless him - this year I've ordered it myself!! Hope your hints work Emma, they never do for DH, it took me 10 years to get an eternity ring:lol:
Emma Jane
23-11-2006, 10:29 AM
Ali - I'm still working on the eternity ring too. Every year at Birthday or Christmas time I chant at him "birth of first child or first year of marriage whichever comes first - where's my rock?" but he never takes the hint lol (its been 5 years of marriage and 2 children and I'm no closer  )
No one can blame you for the tea towel omen Ali - you were young and in love. I never saw the writing on the wall with the sink plunger either lol

My Mum is like that too, she feels she has to give me something 'useful' along the lines of kitchen bowls, or pillowcases etc. For Christmas when I was 16 I got a duvet and covers - I mean, I wanted them but not for christmas LOL.
When I did finally get my eternity ring it was wonderful - 5 little diamonds in a row and he'd had our initials (all 5 of us) engraved on the inside, really sweet - he can be, he just lacks imagination!

This thread has made me chuckle.
DH never uses any imagination with pressies. I choose what I want, I buy it, order it etc - all he does is wrap it. So far this year I have a melt pot, some goodies to go with it and a new handbag. To be fair - I never know myself what I want so I guess I have to agree with him when he says I am difficult to buy for. Would be nice to be surprised just once in a while though.
Most random pressie I ever received was from MIL to us both - an 8 inch plain terracotta mushroom garden ornament which apparently took her ages to find. I asked DH what happened to it the other day and he told me he threw it in the bin
By the way - do you think the inflatable T-Rex I included in my advent swap parcel was a mistake?

[B]Way to go, screams quietly, so DH doesn't hear.[/B.   My parcels on it's way
I really hope it comes tomorrow :) :) only because I am at the shop Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday this week, which then makes collecting form PO awkward, as you can only collect from our until 2.pm.
Mind you I would definately be ready early to o and collect a parcel, what am I like,  I never have parcels to collect, unlike my DH who keeps buying things on ebay.
Can't wait, daren't go downstairs with a big grin, have to stay on computer for a bit to calm down, never thought I'd get this excited.:) :) :) :) :)

Is anyone else getting just a teeny bit excited about Friday!?!
I keep having fights with my kids coz they want to open my pressies - but they are all mine, mine, MINE. Well except one as, fortunately for me, Santa has very kindly & thoughtfully included a pressie for my boys.
They are all nicely placed in a basket by the fire (behind the fire guard where theiving little mits can't get at them - I hasten to add) :D
Ali - hope your parcel turns up in time

Santa would like to apologise for the suspense with your parcel, the elves spent way to much time playing in the snow and not wrapping. They're all caught up now and it's wrapped and on it's way.
By way of an apology it's been sent via Special Delivery to guarantee it's safe arrival with you tomorrow, as I will be busy keeping watch over the little ones.

Please dont worry , Santa definately has not forgotten you - I received a very comprehensive list of what you liked from my naughty young elves so didnt need to check anything with you, I have packaged up a nice box of goodies for you which was sent yesterday to arrive via the Elves Special Delivery service in one of their nice red vans.
There will be one little package missing from your box for day No. 12 , this is being sent seperately in a little box , hope thats OK with you but the Elves didnt allow for this in their packaging.
Have a lovely Christmas and dont forget no peeking / prodding or rattling - before Friday anyway !
