Hello ladies & gents if there are any out there!

I am so exciting about this swap - I love collecting all the little bits & bobs & deciding which one should be for which day & wrapping & labelling them all.... So excited that I started collecting some little bits whilst on my travels today & hey ho if they don't fit into my swapee likes then I guess I'll have to give them a good home myself!!! Oh boy I can't wait to find out who I get!!!

Anyway just wanted to say hello & let you know another REAL excited bunny has joined the gang!

Love from one Christmassy feeling

Hi ladies

Sorry I was a little late confirming a few of you , hadnt got a chance to get here sooner this evening. I have also updated the first post of mine on Page 1 with a list of sign ups so far. Please could you just check that youre on there OK. Also quite a few of you have been sending very handy comprehensive likes / dislikes lists with your emails , which are great and will make Santas job soooo much easier, if anyone else wants to do the same I will add the details in with your address details etc , I know of course many of you will have them in your profile so if thats the case then you dont need to worry.

Hi whizzy

Sorry to hear that you have been put off CJ's - although I haven't done any more since the handwriting one I was hosting finished in April. Decided that I should put more effort into scrapping my own stuff rather than doing stuff I was going to give away to other people

Jen sends me the emails about the all day crops and I keep thinking I might come but life has been mega busy over the last 12 months and I never quite manage it. :( . But if I do I will let you know I'm coming and you can save me a seat :D

Oh Anita you spoilsport the other groups have started to get their swapees I feel soooo left out

Am I horrid ?!!? Yep one team have started swapping out, another at the weekend and the other 2 are waiting till sign ups are complete, the same as this group. Just so you all done think I'm being totally horrid I will explain why. If I created a cut off point and swapped some of you out then the others would think it unfair that they didnt have their swappees , but if I swapped the whole group out and only another 6 or so people joined after that then those 6 people would probably be able to more easily guess their Santa out of the few that have been swapped out at the same time as them.
Have I explained that OK ??!! Am hoping by swapping a big group out altogether then you will all have great difficulty and lots of fun guessing !
Rest assured you will be told straight after cut off who youre buying for , Im in the same situation as you and absolutely cant wait either , in fact have been buying a few bits already in the hope that they may suit my Red Ribbon swappee.

Hope thats OK and fair for everyone!

19-10-2006, 02:01 PM
Hi Anita, I am right with you hun about the swapping out dates - the group I am hosting is also waiting til after the 31st. I didnt realise some groups had swapped already - I wanna make it as difficult as poss for people to guess who's buying for them so I am waiting to do the whole lot together to reduce the chances of guessing!!

LOL - we are all just SOOOOOOO impatient arent we!!

Miss S
19-10-2006, 04:54 PM
I agree about the name swapping dates. I've hosted a few swaps and would get totally confused giving out swapees a bit at a time. I think it's much easier to do it all at once... it will keep us all excited and curious for a little longer :D

juliab
19-10-2006, 06:33 PM
I totally support you Anita - I think more than half the fun of this swpa is guessing/not being guessed! And anyway, there is another payday between now and 1 November - what better excuse to go shopping in early November!

SueC
20-10-2006, 01:41 PM
There used to be a thread that you could type in your likes / dislikes and then link back to it but the thread got so big it was too much for the system to carry on. You have to put it in your profile now but why don't we all do an introduction on here of ourselves which will help each other when we are swapped plus will help getting the chat going?

I'll start shall I...

My name is Sue and I hit the big 40 this August! I have an 8yr old DD (going on 18 at times ) and I have been married to DH for 19 years. I currently work full time as a PA to the MD of a chain of daycare nurseries which is fun but I want to work from home so I can be there for DD after school more often.

I have been scrapping for about 7 years - started with Creative Memories and then found this place and my whole style changed  I have done lots of albums of DD / family holidays etc but now I am concentrating on my own Book of Me.

I am now slipping down the slide of altered art, ATCs etc and really enjoy getting "messy".

I love pinks / purples and the sort of "arty" vintage browns. I will have a go at most techniques and on a non-scrapping theme I love ANY kind of chocolate ( ) but would like to avoid smelly stuff as I have a tendency to be allergic to perfumes / bath bombs etc.

So that's me in a nutshell - what about you guys :D

AJH
21-10-2006, 02:13 AM

Princess Lily

Ok I'll take a turn:

My name is Beth, I am 29 & have just had our fifth wedding anniversary.
I am stay at home mum & love most crafts esp. scrapping.

I like plain & simple stuff. I prefer to work small & love making mini books, journals & tend to scrap a celebration or event in a small book rather than adding to huge great heavy albums!

I love the lightly ribbed & waffle cardstock that bazzill basics do.

I like dull & dirty colours but can't bring myself to deliberatly distress. I like the new england/american folk art look & LOVE anything gingham.

Not really into novelty items or themes. Can't really do bright, sparkley girlie stuff as it's just not me. & have gone off **ducking for cover** ATCs!

As for Christmas I tend to go for a traditional country style. Good excuse to use lots of red & green ginghams!

& now a days I love chocolate of any variety... (except strawberry flavours)

Not really into bath/smellie type stuff as real sensetive.

Hope that make sense.
Beth x

p.s. so excited that I made 25 little tags last night. DH thinks I am mad a) for making 25 tags, b) for been so excited over 'a bit of card board & a pair of scissors!' & c) Christmas in October...

Oh well whose next?

EDIT to add fav colour is blue!

I'll go next.

Im 24 (25 on 30th Nov) and have a little girl called Rosie who was 1 in August. I have been married to my hubby (Phil) for almost 5 years. We moved to Westcliff in July and are currently doing up our flat and garden.

I have always been in Art and Craft since an early age as my mum owns a bead and button shop, my grandad used to be a jeweller. I went to Surrey Institute of Art and Design to study 3-d design-metalwork, but came home as I missed my then boyfriend and wanted to get married!

I make cards, stetch (occasionally) but I mainly scrap and make my own jewellery. I mainly scrap in 8x8 as I'm doing my daughters first year. But desperately trying to get going on our family album (12x12) and Book of Me (8x8).

I have a quickutz squeeze(pink of course) and a big shot. Both brought for the business! But I love having all those alphas to choose from! I am addicted to alphas of any kind especially those lil davis black plastic ones.

I like like the vintage altered art thing. but most of my actually album is fairly modern in style. Thinking Freestyle/Designing with Colour/Designing with Type.

I LOVE pink, purple, lilac, black and turqouise. Non scrapping I am really into those pressed glass coloured things from charity shops, enamel tins of anykind and venitan/beveled edge mirrors to give you an idea. But despite being quite girly I love wearing quite punky style clothes. I am def a jean and t-shirt kind of girl. Bright green, black, cerise pink, colbat blue.

Sorry I have waffled for far too long!

Zoe

Hi everyone, I'm Gwyneth 52 going on 25. I have 2 children Lizzie 18 and Richard 16.I have 2 wonderful labradors I take out each day. I'm a nurse in health education. ( Drugs and Sex) mainly. I make cards and scrap any size really. I like autumn colours or any for that matter. I am into charms at the moment. I don't like smellies as I too am sensative although I am also an aromatherapist. I should be steering clear of choccy as I am on a diet before Christmas but a little treat would be able to be squeezed into the diet plan!!!
I have done this swap for a few years now and love everything about it, all the buying and wrapping and the feeling that someone else is thinking about me gives me a warm feeling. So anything at all will bring a smile. Thanks

dizzy
21-10-2006, 10:22 PM
right then my turn,

my names selina im 24 years off and stilll live at home, poor wages and house prices dont offer much, im an only child and have three cats which are the main pictures i tend to scrap.

i love choclate but have been on a helath kick and diet for awhile now so am limiting my intake, i love pinks and purple and anything fluffy,

i had a slight scrapper block for the past year, have only done about 5 page shock horror through time, but am going to make a new years resolution to make more time for myself and scrpping in the new year.

i work as a nursery surpervisor with the 2-3 and so very much young at heart, i love my job and spend more time than i should working or thinking about work.

im very much a girly girl and am very close to my nan and grandad.

i hae taken part in this swap for three years now and lve every bit of it.

My name's Sarah, I'm 27. I'm not married and don't have any kids. I've got 1 older sister and 2 beautiful nieces (5 yrs old and 1 yr old) but they don't live in England. I've got 2 cats and 1 dog and i love all animals. I love photography, too and am trying to teach myself from my many photography books lol. I often do charity / voluntary work and this christmas I'm helping with the Shoe Box appeal again. I'm currently on a diet (WW) and have lost 62.5lbs this year, since February when I started - so I don't eat any sweeties or chocs etc. I don't drink alcohol either, but love my cups of tea and am always collecting nice mugs .

I've been scrapping for quite a while now. I'm not sure I have a scrapping 'style' as such, I just do whatever comes to me. I adore the look of the 'freestyle' style and am very keen on having a go. I love all the Autumn Leaves books. My favourite stash comes from companies like chatterbox, autumn leaves, daisy d's, bazzill, prima, fancy pants, K&Co, Queen & Co etc. I don't like stickers, eyelets and fibres at all really and don't use them. I'm not into all the patterned papers with real life sort of pictures on them - like pebbles, sky, buildings etc and don't really like the kiddy / childish looking stuff like 'MAMBI' and things like that. I'm also not so keen on holographic and pearlescent stuff.

I looove patterned paper, cardstock, alphabets and also unusual embellishments and loads of stuff, I could be here all day listing it all LOL. I like most colours, but not fluro, acid and not sooo keen on primary colours. I'm dying to try some pretty fabric on my layouts too! I'm not a card maker and really only do scrapbooking these days. I have tried many a craft and found that scrapbooking is definately the one for me!

I'm not sure what else. I'm a girly kind of girl and love pinks, purples, fluffy stuff etc etc.. but I don't wear make up or nail varnish. I love jewellery and I have long hair and love all that kinda stuff. I love smellies of all kinds, but we only have a shower. Like someone else said, I am also a jeans and tshirt type of girl, despite loving all the girly stuff! LOL. I love all sorts of things from curiosity shops.. love fairies, windchimes, candles, incense, little boxes, mirrors, hanging things, coloured glass things etc etc - you get the idea! LOL.

Christmas and Winter are my absolute favourite times of year! I love Christmas and all the decorations / preparations etc.. I can't get enough of it . Our Christmas decorations aren't themed, we have lots of colours with multicoloured fairylights - i love it, it takes me back to my childhood

Okay, I will have a go now :)

I am pretty easily pleased actually, especially when it comes to scrapbooking stash :) I like most brands of papers, but do have lots of pp, so some cardstock is always useful. I work in 12x12 mainly but would be willing to try other sizes.

I love ribbons and buttons and eyelets and brads and so on, the only thing I can't seem to get my head around is fibres  Just never know quite what to do with them other than on tags:lol:

I have a QK, Big shot and tag-a-long.

I have more stickers than I know what to do with so probably wouldn't need anymore

I am married to Neil (for 5 years) and we have 3 children, Charlotte (4) who has just started school, Olivia (3) who is very strong willed and confident and Edward, my little man who will be 2 in January :)

Oh and number 4 is due in April - unplanned and unexpected, but now we are used to the idea very much looked forward too :)

Mmm, anything else - I don't really wear much jewellry I'm afraid and I am definatley a jeans and t-shirt girl!! and I am a nurse in a community care home (not just eldery)

Hope that is enough - I have probably waffled on for too long now  Sorry if I have bored you :(:)

It doesn't have to be expensive - you can make things from your current stash (ie tags, embellishments etc) and chocs don't cost too much :)

Kermit
27-10-2006, 04:49 PM
Sue, that's true, but don't forget the minimum spend is £25. Maybe you could talk your family into giving you £25 towards your own Christmas pressie, and use that for your advent swap knowing you will get at least £25 worth of stash back!!

__TJ__
27-10-2006, 08:45 PM
also remember postage is nor included in that. i spent over £15 on it last year :o ( course they failed to deliver by 1pm so i got a refund of that;) ) but bear in mind how much it will cost to post at least £6 if you send it recorded ( id recommend that so at least it will be insured if its lost by the po)

anita, last year sundrop gave out her work address so that we could all put that down on theparcel as the return address in case they couldnt deliver, if we go all secret santa and put "santa, santaland, santasvilles s4nt4" as the return addy it will never get back to us if it cant be delivered. is there anyone with a work addy this year that would be willing to re-direct or contact the santa who's parcels get lost? just an idea :)

also sundrop used to ask for an extra present to be seperatly wrapped and sent to her so that if anyones parcels did get lost completely there was an alternative parcel made up ready to go, anyone else think this is a good idea? am happy to send a little extra parcel to one of the organisers if need be :)

finally i know that santas little helper was completely abused last year, i beleive santa got kidnapped for the cyber crop LOL. will there be someone who we can pm, that can post "this message isnt from me but so and so your parcel has been delayed by late snow and will be with you thursday" or something? im happy to volenteer if the organisers dont want a full pm box LOL. perhaps someone form each group could be designated "helper" status?

SueC
27-10-2006, 10:01 PM
Sue, that's true, but don't forget the minimum spend is £25.

Yes but what I meant to say was if you make some of your gifts from stash that you already have then you are still adding to the overall value up to the £25 but you aren't having to go out and actually spend a full £25 now as you have already got the stash you are using - if that makes sense

Although as TJ says it is worth remembering you have postage to go on top - hummm, how light can I make it all  Mind you this year it will be size as well won't it - flipping Royal Mail ;)

I was £18 for postage last year:o and that was just the main box, I had to send the stuff that wouldn't fit in the first box seperately.

Hi girlies

Welcome Rebecca , thanks for your email .
I dont have a work address Tracey but would be happy for anyone to include my address on the box if any of you would like that , when you are sent details of your 'Santa' I will include it for those of you who choose to add it , maybe you could add that its 'Secret Santa' or Advent Swap , just so I dont go tearing into it !
Again re the extra pressie I dont have a problem with them being sent to me but I am not sure that everyone will agree that its a good idea to be honest .... especially with the expense that they will be incurring already doing their 'big shop' and postage and then afterwards theres the cost oif returning them all back if none are needed , as I say I am totally happy for that to be done but dont think its anything I could really enforce..... saying that it need only be a little something and not much postage to be sent to me but its lots for me to send back out to you all if not needed - IFKWIM!

I have no problems at all for people to use my email address to request any messages to be sent on , as the groups are smaller this year than one big group, and as far as I know we all will have our own Santas helper , hopefully the abuse / kidnap (!!) wont be as much as a problem as last year. I would rather messages be sent to me by email (as in the sign up link) however as my PM inbox does get a bit over full at times !
Thanks ever so much for bringing these things up , its really helpful to have previously experienced Adventeers!!

Hi - just back from a little holiday in Northumberland and catching up with this thread!

I will post a bit about me later when I have unpacked, put the laundry on etc (had to come on here first - get your priorities right!!!!) but thought I would just take a minute to add my p'nnthworth to this particular debate....

In the past we sent two extras to Sundrop in the event of a non-arrival. After the first year there was a lengthy thread about what should happen to the things that weren't used - should they be cybercrop prizes, raffled for charity etc... I don't know what the end result was. I don't think we did the same last year - if my (poor!) memory serves me right, Sundrop said it wasn't necessary because she still had the pile from the previous year! I think maybe one or two parcels got made up from these to send to two non-arrivals (but that may have been a stocking swap - as I said, poor memory!).

In another advent swap, when one parcel (I think that WAS a stocking!) didn't arrive, everyone in the swap then sent a little something to the host with a 31p stamp and she sent a stocking on to the person who hadn't had anything. Maybe this would be a better solution in the event of a non-arrival?

I would def recommend sending recorded for the extra 65p (insured up to £30 I believe).

Just my thoughts .....
BFN

Julia

SueC

Hopefully in a smaller group and all using recorded delivery there is a smaller chance of parcels going astray and I'm sure as a group we could get a little package together quickly if someone was missing out. We could even all agree to send one or two bits directly to the person who's parcel hadn't turned up.

Right, I really ought to do this.......

Hi, My name is Sally, I am 37, married with 4 children...Rebecca 10, Lucy 8, Adam 6 and Sophie 1. I work very part-time as a Pharmacist.

I have been scrapping for about 20 months, and also do a little card making, which I have just got into. I also enjoy my garden (when I have the time), and I love reading, and listening to music. I like Robbie, Snow patrol, Bonjovi, a real mix. I dont drink much, except tea!, love all chocolate, but esp Cadbury DM, Galaxy, Minstrels, and anything minty, love all stationary, books, smellies (tho dont like musky perfumes and prefer Boots/Body shop). We are holidaying at Disney soon, I love the sea and the beach, hubby Dives, love my car ....

Scrapping wise -
I love PP, and esp like BG(but no Blitzen please as have loads!), Crate, Scenic Route, Junkitz, Doodlebug, Gin X, Chloes closet - infact, any really!
I adore Bazzill!
My fave colurs are Purple, Pink, and Green, but I love Blue, Orange, Yellow, so pretty much any colour!
I adore Ribbons, esp May Art Spotty(tho have most colours), Maya Road, American Crafts - but any Ribbon is Fab, esp if patterned in some way. Not so bothered about plain, unless textured(do I sound picky??!)
I love fibres, tho do have a lot.
I love brads, esp metallic ones, but I love all sizes, types, etc.
I like eyelets, and dont have many novelty ones, so any would be great.
I like charms, buttons, any bits and bobs really - not at all fussy!
I adore flowers of all types, big, small, primas, anything!
I love alphas of all types, dont have a robo, or sissix or QK, so would love to receive any along those lines (have to rely on crops to cut out any titles!!!)
I like stickers, but only in moderation! Not into the flowery, old fashioned, twee, novelty types. Papermania ones in small amounts are the types I can cope with (or alphas of any type of course)
I am really into Rub-ons, but not so much the phrase ones, unless they relate to kids, holidays etc- I dont tend to do the twee sort of journalling.
I love chalks and inks - have quite a lots of cats eyes, would love to try some different sorts, iridescent types maybe? I like inks too, and recently started stamping and embossing so anything related would be fab.
I like chipboard bits too - flowers, shapes, alphas
I love homemade tags, coasters, bookmarks etc. I have made matchbooks, paperbags books, havent ever done a starbook, accordian book, but would love anything anyone would care to take the time and effort to make me! Havent yet tried ATC's.

Cor that went on a bit - makes me sound really fussy!

I did this swap last year and thoroughly had a fabby time and love the shopping for my partner so the receiving is a bonus!! I will love anything anyone has time to buy, make, wrap etc so please dont worry!!!

Love

Morning girls, not long to go now till shopping time !

Yep I think the idea that if there is a problem to all pull together and send something to the person concerned but am happy whatever we decide as a group. Lets hope that there are no problems , at least this year the Advent swap is being managed in smaller groups so its nice and easy to keep on top of everything. I would definately agree in sending at least with recoreded delivery for your peace of mind, at least then a signature is obtained , be it the receiver or a neighbour etc and then you know its definately safe and sound.

Sally I dont think your message makes you sound fussy you ought to see mine over on the Red Ribbons thread !!! I really didnt mean to make it sound fussy but just helpful !!

What have you got in store for today girls ? Have to help DD make a volcano for Geography on Tuesday and then I think we will go out for a bit of fresh air , hope you all have a nice day whatever you do.

:D :D Good morning everyone. Getting just a little ( she lied) excited about the swap. I am going to the NEC in just over a week so I have an excuse to spend some money 'on the advent swap. Made a little something yesterday, first in a long time. You see this swap gets to the scrappers block that other swaps fail to reach'! As for the non arrival of parcels I don't think anyone would mind sending a small extra parcel out to anyone unfortunate enough not to get theirs.

Okay - something about me now :)

I'm Julia (you probably could have guessed that bit!), recently 48 yrs old. I am married to Colin - just two and a half years although we were living together for 23 years before we finally decided we were ready for serious commitment :D :D

We have two children - daughter aged 19 who is studying sociology at Durham University and son aged 9 who isn't studying anything discernable - unless you count how to play Gameboy games, or the history of the Simpsons .....

As well as being a Mum I work full-time as Chief Executive of a charity supporting people who live in rural Shropshire and cannot access services most people take for granted - shops, health services, buses .... it keeps me very busy and I don't have much time for leisure so scrapping is my relaxation.

I started scrapping about three years ago after I had been to America for a month and discivered it there (I wonder now if I would have discovered it at home if I hadn't been there .....). Anyway my first big project was to do an A-Z of my daughter's first 18 years. It was a huge learning curve and a labour of Hercules as I had to do it in secret but she was utterly thrilled.

At the same time I did about 4 Circle Journals which I really liked but then felt I was doing all that for someone else instead of scrapoing my mountain of pictures, so I decided not to do any more.

After that I rather lost my mojo! - but I have done a few LO's for my DS, some of our wedding photos but mostly I make lots of small books - accordian and starbooks which I then fill with photos and give away as presents!

I am NOT a cardmaker - I have tried to transfer the skills across but I just don't "get" cardmaking - I love receiving handmade cards and always think "I could do that!" but then never can! But I love anything handmade by someone else and always appreciate the amount of effort and work that goes into it - even something simple like a tag!

When I am not scrapping I love to walk and I love to travel (and have done a lot over the years). Earlier this year I completed the Inca Trail in Peru raising almost £2,000 for a Breast Cancer Research Charity so my on-going project is an 8x8 album of my trip.

Scrapping wise I have been on a bit of a stash diet recently - I felt I had so much stuff I really needed to make a bit of a hole in it. My inclination is towards a fairly "clean" and simple style - but I also like to use lots of photos on my LOs.

I love:
Bazzill - can you ever have too much?
Basic Grey - I am so cross with them for bringing out so many new ranges! But I love them all.
Other patterned paper I like seem to include Bo-bunny - love the bright colours, Karen Foster, and random odd sheets (eg with words on them)
I love rub ons but don't like stickers, I love brads and eyelets but not buttons
and I have loads of fibres and ribbons which I never really seem to use. I like to ink the edges of almost everything so have a few cats eyes chalk inks - but always want more. Any kind of glue, double-sided tape etc will find a use in my tool box. I have a heat gun but only one kind of embossing powder (how sad!) so don't use it much. Neither do I have many stamps but I do have some foam stamps (but not much paint!).

I do like chocolate - but I don't eat it much - white and milk chocolate but not plain. I prefer licorice and I have a real weakness for very good fudge. I don't really drink, and I don't really do "smellies" - would prefer fruity rather than musky and I like Body Shop stuff.

Crikey - are you still reading? Well, that should be enough to be going on with!

Julia

I'll add my likes and dislikes here.
I love Bazzill, Basic Grey and anything Doodlebug. I mostlyuse bright colours for scrapping, don't like shades of brown or green unless it is lime green. Love brads but don't really use eyelets anymore. I am addicted to ribbon and buttons, don't use fibres though. I love anything to do with alphabets: stickers, rubons etc but don't really use any other type of sticker.
My favourites colours are pink and purple,I love smelly candles especially foodie smells, adore all things to do with cupcakes, but don't really use smellies at the moment due to sensitive skin. We don't really celebrate Christmas a wholel ot,the kids get pressies from my family and we have a big dinner but not much apart from that so no obviously Christmas things please.
My favourite scrapping items at the moment are chipboard shapes,I haven't bought any of the new BG yet and I would love to try some Tim Holtz products after watching his DVD's.

Hope thats ok!

Here are my likes/dislikes pasted from the other thread incase it dissapears in a few days. I've updated it a bit too.

Hi, I'm 33 and been married to Steven for just over 11 years. We have 2 beautiful daughters Katie(7yrs) and Jessica(21/2yrs). I have been scrapbooking for 3 years now but I still have a LOT to learn

I am very easily pleased and like all colours but especially pinks, lilacs and purples and natural earthy tones.

I love Basic Grey, Junkitz, doodlebug, AMM, Pebbles Inc, and pretty much everything else

I can't live with out my corner rounder at the moment and I'm getting very into inking and chalking, although my collection of inks is a bit pitiful.

I like all sorts of embellishments - metal, acrylic, eyelets, brads, snaps, fibres, ribbons, blossoms, buttons - anything goes.

My Mum would like me to do something with the boxes of really old family photos that she has so I would like to build up a stock of heritage stuff.

I have a Quickutz and Frankie Skinnie Minnie and Katie Uppercase alphabets and a sizzix with curlie girly and doodle block uppercase.

I have done 12x12, 6x6, 8x8, 8.5x11 and I've made paperbag books and it's only a matter of time beofre I'm altering everything in sight

I am interested in trying anything scrapbooking related.

I love animals, we have a miniature schnauzer called D-for (DH chose the name) and a rabbit called Fluffy. I've had animals all my life so have lots of their photos to scrap.

I also love teddy bears, I've made a few myself and enjoy collecting them. I have a dollshouse and I've made a few tiny bears to go in that. A project for way down the line is a 12th scale teddy bear shop. I have very recently started making jewellery because a girl can never have too much bling:lol:

I like chocolate, especially galaxy, truffles, nuts, caramel or marzipan. I don't like fruit creams or ginger sweets but anything else is lovely.

I am alergic to perfume but I still like to smell nice and often use scented handcream and body lotions. I love scented candles.

I love anything that is handmade, for someone to have taken the time to make me something is very special.

suzytagain
31-10-2006, 11:47 PM
Now that that we've got our swapees I'd better add my likes and dislikes.

I'm Suzanne. 43, married to Henry and with one son, Simon who is 6 and has just been out trick or treating for the first time.
I'm currenly working full time but yearn to get back to part time so that I can get my life back as I have to work very long hours and I miss having my own crafting time and quality time with Simon.
I love all crafts but have been scrapbooking for a few years now. I love making mini books and canvas's and make loads to give away as presents. I also like altering things, which I've been doing since I was a young girl before I had a name for what I did i.e I would decorate things I would get in car boot sales - frames, tables, vases - you name it.
I have really wide tastes i,e I like almost everything and don't have a "style" as such - rather I'll try anything. I love doing classes, like in the cybercrops. I'm a magazine addict and book addict too - that's my nighttime reading - in fact I spend more time reading about scrapping than doing it!
Brands I like - doodlebug, 7 gypsies, rusty pickle, anything old ( I use old papers and bus tickets and watch faces in collage style things) - also basic grey, blonde moments, heidi swapp, crate, wild asparagus and almost anything else that takes my eye. I do some stamping, but not as much as my collection of stamps would suggest. Mind you if you locked me into my craft room I could probably make things for about 3 years without having to come out, I'm so addicted to buying and sorting my stuff
I'll do an album just about Christmas.
I scrap in date order mostly - but take photos of day to day stuff on the way, rather than just special occassions.
I do like smellies and candles and chocolate - although I'm at weight watchers so probably should avoid choccies - although my DS would love to take them off my hands. He loves crafts too and making his own mini albums, so I'm happy if he gets a surprize some days rather than me as last year he was very jealous of my parcel and opened it for me every day. Ooops - quite an essay........ time for bed me thinks.
Looking forward to it
S

Right girlies - theoretically you should all have had an email with who you are sending to hopefully !! Quite a few of you have confirmed receipt , thanks so much for that, looking forward to hearing from everyone else.

Please please dont hesitate to contact Nina or myself if you have any questions or problems.

As Zoe said dont forget to 'stalk' the person you are sending to , i.e. in the polls etc.

Hopefully we should have news that Santas helper is on his way soon , as soon as we have his log in details we will let you know - as of course you are sending in secret and wouldnt want your recipient knowing who you are too early !!! In the meantime if you have questions for your 'Santa' direct them through myself or Nina.

Lastly - Nina it was great talking to you tonight and sorting the swappees out , hope you enjoyed the rest of your card making session !!!

I've just updated my likes etc on my profile but who ever my santa is please don't worry - I've never had anything in an advent swap yet that I haven't liked or used. My daughter is always using my stash and I do card making and take Girls Brigade as well so a lot of my stuff gets used for craft there too.So anything I'm given will be used somewhere.
I love all chocolate and smellies too. I have tried to put as full a list as pos in my profile.Sorry - I have no layouts posted as they are nearly all of my daughter and she asked me not to put them up.
Off to stalk my swapee now.

Hi fellow Xmas swappers!! thought all my likes/dislikes were safely in place on my profile but when I checked today half of the info I typed in has gone!! Guess there wasn't enough room!!
Anyway - will leave the info below

I'm Emma & am 35 years old. Married to Andy for 12 years & have two boys - Matthew 9 & Thomas 4. Am a Community Nurse for Adults with Learning Disability.

Am very easily pleased - tend to scrap 12x12 but am happy to try anything. My subject matter is usually my sons so tend to use a lot of bright colours ( usually blues & greens). I do have nieces so don't rule out the pinks completely!!. I like all sorts of paper as long as not too floral or muted. Haven't really got into heritage yet either. Love Basic Grey especially their more recent offerings. Also Junkitz & Doodlebug as I find the designs bright & refreshing. Like using embellishments although not a huge fan of fibres - got loads from doing swaps but then never used them!! Do like ribbons though. Have got a SideKick and several Alphas/sizzlits. I tend to scrap very randomly going for a picture I like rather than focusing on a set event/theme. Think home-made items are lovely & recognise the effort that go's into them. Not really into altering though.

Away from scrapping i LOVE chocolate (except orange choc./fruit flavour fillings & marzipan) but loathe fruit jellies. All round sweet tooth really!!
Love pampering in the bath with bubbles & smellies etc (yuk to lavendar though). Love baking/cooking. Have no pets (except the children!!)

Running out of things to say - if santa needs to ask more just shout!!

Hope this helps

Love Whizzy xx

Hi everyone, wouldn't you just know BT had me offline last night as the swapees were anounced. I got into work early to access my email acoount but there is a block on the uk scrapper site at work, ( they can't think we would spend all day on uk scrappers can they?!!!!!) Back home just got on and thought I would reasure my swapee ( who can you be????) that I have all your likes and dislikes in my brain and don't be afraid if you see a shadow over your shoulder,. It's just me stalking to get a feel for what you like.Just looked on my profile to find likes and dislike not shown up but have put something on page 6 of this thread if that helps my Santa. ( Now have I been naughty or nice?, when you get to my age you forget, no doubt Santa will know)

I have my swappee's details and will start the lurking shortly.

My likes and dislikes....

I like tonal, muted colours (dont do brights) love the shabby chic look and am starting to get into patterned paper. Im a total Bazzill addict and love alphabet stickers and rubons. I have thousands of buttons already, so no need for anymore, but the scrapping item that I cant live with out is my ink pads, and you can never have enough of them. Another one of my favs is chipboard, the one thing that I do aspire to is having a set of BG mono's (hoping DH is reading this and taking note!!!) I would like to get into using fabric... I just need to figure out how to use my sowing machine first!
I live in sunny Cornwall with my two children (one of each) and my hunk of a husband. I only scrap in 12x12 and its mainly of the kids. I lothe novelty buttons and funky foam.
Im a bit of a chocaholic at heart and I love handmade items. Not too keen on smellies as I have sensitive skin.
Hope this helps my very own santa.

ok about me...

i'm married to ian and have 2 boys james (5 nearly 6) and ethan (nearly 4) who are the main focus of my photos. we have no pets as i'm allergic to cats and dogs :( I work ft teachign chemistry at a comp. I scrap pretty much exclusively in 8.5x11 (i always buy 12x12 and trim down) and am really a clean and simple, graphic scrapper at heart.I like my photos to be the main focus of a page and use embellishments kind of sparingly. I have done atc's and did a more grungy distressed thing with those with acrylics and ink - i just don't have a lot of time to play :(

i love bazzill - like the places we love texture but use lots of the other stuff too and i scrap mainly in blues and greens - don't really do pink - even my niece hardly ever wears pink! i do like patterned paper even if i just use small bits of it! - most recent stuff i bought was ki memories grateful and crate paper cowgirl. love chipboard and alphabets - stickers, rubons, etc mainly use black and white. like brads but plain coloured ones, like ribbons, like flowers but not really bright colours like orange, have just got into 7gypsies stuff like the little note slips and rubons stuff.

i live in freezing cold newcastle where i drink copious amounts of tea (at work) and coffee (at home and in starbucks!) and eat too much chocolate to stay warm.

hth and santa's elves can always ask if they need to know more right?

forgot to say i've been making a list

Wow lucky you - New York. Enjoy :D

I have just started doing a little online browsing... I'd heard people talk about Banana Frogs stamps but had steered clear as I have no will power what so ever when it comes to stash, (well any shopping really if truth be known) but oh boy they are so delicious I love all the flowers and stars and oh oh oh I am really gona try and hold back & buy for the style of me swappee but it's just so tempting to add in a little somethig for yourself too!

Can anyone else manage to just buy for gifts or do you end up getting just as much stuff for yourself too?

DELIGHTED with my swappee (thanks Anita!) even though I don't know much about her (need to do some stalking!). I think we have similar styles and tastes!

Hi, here goes me........

I am married with 5 children Dean 24, Clare 22, Charlotte 10, Chloe 8 and Nathan 6..... i also foster children... have two at moment.

I am totally addicted to scrapbooking 12 x 12 and have a huge stash of the usual stuff...

my likes are

Basic Grey (havent got any of fruitcake or blush yet)
also have used most of my plain ones from other packs
I do like other papers as well like Senic Route....charlotte range is pretty...you dont have to buy me these but if you look at them hopefully it will give you an idea what sort of papers i go for.....hope that helps..

Ribbons, fancy like sari, may arts or any other really pretty ones, not plain.....

Really delicate fibres, that sparkle or that are soft and flufffy....not eyelash

Flowers, chipboard, die cut, large primas etc etc.....

Elements and monogrames plain or decorated

Unusual brads not to small please dodgy hands....

Anything homemade ie... tags, altered things etc...alphabets, machine cut or handmade.....

Colours im not really fussy but not keen of really really bright in your face papers like the BG colour me silly range...didnt buy that one

I Would like to receive mostly scrappy things...... but i do like the following things

like doing my nails.....so nail varnish etc...like dark colours and glittery, love fluffy socks, pretty purses, pink things,
Turkish delight, humbugs, dolly mixtures, Milk and White chocolate BUT ALLERGIC TO NUTS......
Ive just got a new (well new to me) car, maybe something on that line, ie key ring, smellie to hang up....

Things i dont like :::

Plain boring ribbon or brads and dont use eyelets much
NUTS allergic to them
Smellies and jewellery cant use sorry skin type

i will add to my likes as i think, hopefully this will help my santa,

Hello my name is Vicki,
I thought i would elaborate on me, as I am sure whoever my santa is is pulling their hair out as I fear I may be slightly elusive as I have not joined many chat threads.......

I am 28 I live with my dog and Toy boy boyfriend!!! I am a PA in an investment bank I have been scrapping for a couple of years now, and absolutely love it! My dog is the most important thing in my life so anything to do with dogs is a big plus with me, he is a black retriever x collie...

I LOVE
PHRESH AND PHUNKY (more than most things!)
RIBBON any sort
ANYTHING TO DO WITH DOGS (buttons, paper, ribbon)
ALPHABETS
Patterned paper
Ribbon charms
Basic Grey
Chocolate
Bath Bombs
rick rac (sic?)
Love glitter!
primas
sweets
chocolate
green mascara
brads
inks
anything green
love books
note pads for altering

I dont like
Work
pooy boys (they smell)
being ill
.... sorry diverting a bit there!
ATCs
I dont really like doodeling, or stamping
blue eye shadow
red lipstick
eyelets

I have only just got into embossing so am dabbeling in that at the moment and I think I like it.

I dont like ATC's as I dont seem to use them.
I love anything to do with witches and magic and fairies.
I love reading and I can get through at least a book a week
I love all makeup stuff as well but have loads and loads and loads of it.
I hope this helps my santa a bit more.

I love paper and fabric, in my crafting i tend to use more muted colours and i like folk art, country and vintage style, having said that I would find a use for any colours. I love doing atc's and circle journals. I don't use many stickers now apart from peel off boarders and corners but i use loads of brads and love, love flowers, i have started useing more eyelets since i got my silent setter. I tend to do a lot of collage and love little emblishments like, skeleton leaves, buttons etc. use a lot of ribbon, love plain, checks, dotted ones in any colours. I like to use vellum and unusual papers.
Not a great fan of chocolate but love sweets like dolly mixtures or butter popcorn. I collect anything with either dragongflies or flamingos on. Love all books though not been reading much fiction at the moment as i seem to have a very limited attention span  enjoy poetry, quotes and history books, anything from the 1940's back, currently i am researching my family history. I like cooking, love music.
I have to admit i have already had my main christmas present, had to make a hard choice between the new circut and a sewing machine and the machine won so any coloured cotton would be useful as i never seem to have the right colour for what i am sewing. The Circut will have to go on next years list but until then i have my trusty big shot which i love.

Hi girlies

Sorry Ive not been around as much , DD was off school Wednesday and had a crop that night and yesterday DH had the day off and we went christmas shopping and out for a meal in the evening.

I have had a few messages with questions for some of you , so will endeavour to get my little Santas helpers to find out the answers for you all tomorrow!

I will of course let you all know as soon as there is an official secret santa sign in but in the meantime questions / messages can be sent via myself or Nina if that helps.

I think the 'waiting; for the cybercrop news' messages probably kept some other parts of the boards , including here, quiet!

Back later today !

Hi everyone, not been on this thread much cos been sorting out my lot!!

Have managed to get most of mine now, those which I am buying anyhow, but isnt it difficult to stick to budget? I still keep looking at it all and thinking ummm, doesnt look a lot, but hopefully when I have made my other bits and bobs it will look more. and added some new stash of my own. Hey ho, I expect everyone is finding it difficult too - now if I had £100 to spend, that would be much easier, and then I would get £100 worth back - nniiiiccceee!

I hope my swappee has found my likes and dislikes OK - any questions, let me know via santa - but i really am happy with most stuff - I scrap so much of our families lives, that I will use most things eventually. My eldest plays Netball, My DS does footy, we always take piccies at all the usual events like Halloween, fireworks, parties, Brownie/Guide camp etc so I will always have a need for any type of embellie or colour scheme. And of course, my poor "photographed every time she moves" youngest daughter should have her own album really as I am always scrapping cute pics of her - the others have next to none piccies compared to all the digi ones of her - my gallery prob shows you a bit of that idea! And she really is a cutie - a real blondie so it makes it all the more easy to "just do one more page " of her!!

I'll try and catch up with everyone on here again later - you must all think I am really unsociable, but by the time I have answered PM's, asked Santa questions, got replies etc, I am knick knacked!

Take care

Love

I had a PM that Santa wanted to know a bit more specifics on my likes & dislikes. I don't use patterned paper a lot but when I do use it I like the bold stuff such as Blonde Moments (luurve the pink and keep thinking I must try the black and white).

Liked some of the earlier Basic Grey stuff but not so keen on more recent ranges but hey, will try anything once :D On that basis would love to try some of the other new trends in papers as just never seem to get round to buying any.

Most of my LOs are of my DD (8yrs old - the little angel in my avatar :) ) so plenty of pinks, purples etc. Love bright cardstock like oranges, bright blues, sunny yellows etc.

I have just started my Book of Me - all the pages will be "My..." so my family, my art, my loves, my hates etc and I plan a couple of pages on my beliefs so that will include angels, crystals, charms etc.

Really into altered art at the moment and ATCs so a lot of stamping, embossing, alcohol inks, getting messy. I love the vintage effect people get in altered art but don't seem to have mastered it myself yet ;)

Love embellishments - charms, fibres, ribbons, beads, gems, blossoms - anything really - think I had been a magpie in a previous life because the more sparkly the better

Hope that helps a bit more - oooh this is sooooo exciting - it has been a few years since I got to sit on santas knee and tell him what I want

Cath I am only a little ahead of you - I have bought a few bits and I have a shopping cart "pending" with one of the sponsors on here - but I am still looking. Also hoping that my swappee will like some handmade gifts (which I haven't yet made!) so I won't be wrapping this weekend - and probably not next weekend either!

Dear Santa

i have just recieved a pm asking for some more information, I'm 35, married to someone in the military so we move lots with 2 children- boy aged 12, girl aged 8- i have not done many pages on them as babys so that may be an idea for bits and bobs. I have a mad boxer dog, we just bought a caravan, i love disney and everything disney- have been 9 times, i love brads- don't have an eyelet setter. I like contemporary pages for scrapbooking - most colours really, don't like wishey washey though. I work full time, i'm a social care co-ordinator for the NHS (intermediate care - mainly over 65's) so time is tight. Love ribbons - especially gingham and sliders and all kinds of metal embellishments. I have more buttons than you can shake a stick at!!! I also have lots of paper/cardstock as i used to be a CM consultant, that should make postage easier!

Like most chocolate- not coconut though, quite fussy about smellies but do like candles.

I hope this helps - please feel free to ask me further questions Santa, i've been a very good girl this year:wub:

Hello there Emma,

Thank you for the fab list of likes & dislikes, it really helps. The elves are busy working at this very moment, but I just wanted to double check a few things with you.

You love Prima Flowers - Do you like other flowers & flowery things?

Lindt Chocolate (Dasher loves the stuff too!)

Do you have a favourite colour?

What do you think of ATCs?

You spoke of 'clear stamps' but how does the postman see them??? ho ho ho

& you dislike Ribbon and Fibers - not a problem as Dancer loves playing with these so all the more for him!

& don't worry I shall not be sending anything PASTEL coloured as yes it is YUK!

Be good - I'm watching.
Have fun, it will be Christmas before you know it!

Jem
05-11-2006, 01:45 AM
Don't stress about it Jayne and Becca, you're meant to have fun. I try and go for about 70 % scrapping stuff, then mix in a few other things.
Last year I sent my swapee a mug with a twin sachet of hot chocolate in for one of the days because I read in one of her posts that she likes to curl up on cold nights with a hot chocolate and watch a film.
If you read through their posts in the community section you'll be surprised by what you can learn about them, in their gallery have a close look at journalling, you can often get great clues there and what they've used will help with what they like. Check out holiday threads, if someone is planning on going to Disney then I'm sure a few disney bits spread over the month will go down a storm.
Or if you're really stuck then use the secret santa ID to PM them and ask them to post you some answers to a few questions.

jemm
05-11-2006, 01:45 AM
No Becca - Tutty id dd2 - she is a junior member:)

AJH
05-11-2006, 01:48 AM
Hi Becca

I'm getting mainly scrapping stuff for my swappee but only because she has stated in her profile about other stuff not being suitable but I will be really grateful if I get a mix of stuff from my sender , I guess if it was me a 75 / 25 split would be nice but thats just my personal opinion.
For anyone who needs to ask their 'Santa' any specifics questions then please PM me or you can sign in as Advent Santa and anonymously ask questions that way.

Oooppps Jem , you beat me to it ! That sounds a lovely idea about last year with the hot chocolate, and what a great idea to check the journalling out. its a shame that the 2005 Advent swap posts arent available to be seen anymore as they would have been useful reference, but I understand it would have caused confusion to have both running.

Jayne - thats a shame about the Advent swap for the kiddies, was it a higher amount this year than last?? Like this one ? Amy did it last year but it wasnt a full advent swap, just 10 days I think and a £10 limit (not that we managed to stick to it !) . Amy hasnt signed up this year as shes not as majorly into scrapping as she was....
