I don't think so, I think that SB would have put it in the 'rules' (I hope not anyway!)...... xx

That was the way Sundrop planned to run this years (a reverse '12 days of Christmas'), but it looks like that ideas been dropped....

Thanks Polgara and Guillyflower, you're on the list!
We cant wait either - I so enjoyed doing it last year. Later this week once we have more people signed up, I'll do a little post about some ideas for pressies, based on what I got and gave last year. It'll only be a snapshot, but at least it might give us all some ideas, espec if you've not done this before. If anyone else has done it before and has any brill ideas or hints and tips, please post away so we can all gather inspiration.....

Hi all, just a quickie query, as you will notice from my join date I haven't been a member for quite six months (five and a bit by my reckoning but nearly six by the sign up deadline), is it going to be possible to join in the advent swap or am I just too new:unsure: I would love to be a part of it but completely understand if you feel I don't fill the criteria.

Hi everyone (Big wave to Ally 16):D
I am off on holiday to sunny Crete later this weekB) . When do we find out who are partners are just in case I am stalked when I am away and someone can't find me to stalk
Hi Chris - just been talking to DIL (DS and co live in Crete) and it's rained non-stop all day, torrential. Closed the airports and redirected planes to athens! Set to stay that way until Friday apparently :(
They're just getting it out of the way for you to go over

Hi Jenni, Kay and I have agreed that as you have more than enough posts, no negative trader ratings and will have been a member for 6 months on the 1st of November when the swap actually starts, we are more than happy to include you. Please email me your details and then I will add you to the list

Marge1969
17-10-2006, 11:22 PM
as long as they are posted by the 29th I think, to allow postage time. I would advise trying to post a tad before that tho, just so that noone starts to panic! There will be the secret santa thread once it all starts where you should post anonomously to your swapee that you have posted it so they know to look out for it. Also, if you dont want yours to arrive on a certain day, then post on this thread as we go on, and I'll make sure that I pass the details on by PM for you, to ensure that those sort of details arent missed by anyone not being around much.

[*IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/traceyrmj/newadvent.gif[/IMG] - You just need to take out the asterisk to get it to work :D
I was wondering about the likes and dislikes thread, is there new one? I've just had a look at mine and I was such a beginner when I started, I hadn't really made up my mind. Mary ann suggests putting likes and dislikes in your profile now that the threads have been closed:) Think they were getting too confusing.

On a more serious note, I notice that two of the other groups have swapped the names now and have their swappees. We wont be doing that, as we are sticking with the idea of swapping after all the sign ups are in on the 31st. If we do it now, it will be fine for those who have already signed up, it will behard to guess who your partner is. BUT,as we still have nearly two weeks left for sign ups, anyone who subsequently signs up will have decidedly fewer options as to who their partner is and hence might easily guess, or at least have a fair idea. Hence, as we are trying to make this as much fun as possible for everyone, even those who arent as quick as us to sign up, we wont be swapping out til the 1st Nov. I really hope this doesnt bother any of you, but I just wanted to clarify our position in this group. I thought it was the idea to wait til after the sign up closes, as has happened in previous advent swaps, but I suppose the other groups must have agreed to get on with it.
Hope that is OK with everyone

http://www.kiss-the-bride.co.uk/images/personal/smilies/wave.gif Hi Debbie :D
Sadly, I'm not no. I meant to e-mail Lorna yesterday. I invited my best friend up from Blackburn a couple of months ago and she rang me this weekend to say that that was the only weekend they could do before Christmas (with it being half term). I'm really gutted I'm going to miss it, but I think she might be a bit offended if I turned her down to go to a crop (she hasn't discovered the wonder of scrapbooking yet, but I'm hoping to lure her in  )
I'm hoping to pop in on Sunday afternoon for a bit of a nose if I have time though. Do you think that would be OK with everyone?

I'll be in Disneyland Paris on the 31st/1st.... so I won't find out until I get back. I think I'll pick up some scrapbooking stash at Disney anyhow and hope my swappee likes Disney stuff.... and if not I'm sure I can find someone else who'd love it. Ah well - I found a load of stuff at WDW and was hoping that they would have brought stuff over to DLP. If not, I'll be happy to pick up Christmas stuff, we've been over at this time of year before and I loved the christmas shopping! Bought several presents for me oh and a few other people too :)
My holiday sister on the other board has been to Disney Land in California but hasn't scrappped the photos so has asked for anything Disney which is fairly easy at least!
Either way I'm looking forward to our few days away.

Hi all,
The group I'm co-hosting have started doing a 'bit about me' list, which I thought was a good idea. I thought I'd kick us all off with a little bit about me to help out my swappee...
I'm Nina, I'm 30 and single with no kids. I'm currently working as an adminstrator/PA for a small company. I'm a vegetarian though I do eat dairy products, but I don't do leather, suede, fur, gelatine or other animal products for which the animal has to be killed). I do like chocolate, but not white. I like milk chocolate, but I love dark choc! I don't like flavoured cream fillings like strawberry or orange. I do like nuts though!
I do drink alcohol - mostly wine or unusual beers, and my favourite spirit is brandy. I like to take baths! I bite my nails (my only terrible habit!), so I don't do manicure-y things or nail varnish, and I'm very fussy with make-up, but I like other smellies!
OK, onto the scrappy stuff - I'm a straight-lines, simple scrapbooks type of gal. I love patterened paper, but not the type that is distressed (BG, some Junkitz etc). I like bold patterns, especially stripes a la American Crafts, Center City, Chatterbox, SEI. I like ribbons but not fibres, silver but not gold, brads and eyelets but not novelty designs. In fact, I don't really use themed stuff at all - I have lots of cat embellishments which I rarely use! I love flowers - prima style or chipboard! I'm getting into chipboard in a big way at the moment, actually! I like charms, ribbon sliders, label holders and that kind of thing. I have a QK but no other die cutting machines. I scrap mostly in 12x12 but am getting an 8.5x11 album for my birthday/Christmas (my birthday is on Dec 13th) so will be trying that format out.
Aside from scrapbooking, my other passions in life are music (Beatles, Beach Boys, etc etc), movies, TV (mostly American - CSI, Sex & the City, West Wing, Friends, ER), and my kitty Kermit, who is the only man in my life at the moment!!!
Hope that helps someone a little bit...
Who's going to go next?!
bumpybecky
24-10-2006, 02:15 PM
ok I'll have a go...
I'm Becky, 33, married with three girls (8,6 and 20 months), we've a dog and three cats also. I'm a full time Mum, but used to be a scientific researcher and also have worked as a lab technician.
Edible stuff - I love chocolate, especially milk choc, minty and orange is OK (strawberry yuckky though!) but please no nestle products (see baby milk action (http://www.babymilkaction.org/index.html) for details). I don't drink a huge amount of alcohol, but like red wine and baileys (not together though!)
Also no candles (too dangerous with a daredevil 20 month old!) and no smellies please (I have a cupboard full already!).
Scrappy stuff - I've scrapped in most sizes, mostly 12x12, but also 6x6 and 8x8. Only tried 8x11.5 a few times, but do like it. I love making minibooks too :) I love most patterned papers, but not sure how to descibe what I like  I'm not keen on the new basic grey lines, very big floral stuff (thinking of some of the urban couture (sp?)). I like chatterbox, junkitz (but not the shabby chic ones - arew they called that even? the turquoise and brown ones - yuck! the ages ones yum! :) ), rob and bob, 3 bugs, 7 gypsies, crate papers, daisy D's etc etc
I love ribbons and ric rac, also fibres (but I have so many, far too many really, so no more please!) I love using buttons, flowers (primas, angel kisses, chipboard, any really!), and chipboard. I used plain brads quite a bit - especially mini round ones. I don't really use themed embellies - so no novelty eyelets, brads etc please.
I don't have any cutting machines and although I have lots from swaps, I don't really use die cut shaped things (except flowers). Die cut alphabets / letters / numbers are fabby though :)
Colours - well there's plenty in my gallery to look at! Purple is my fave colour, but I don't seem to use it that often. I love bright and cheeful colours, use a lot of pink with 3 girls
I'm not really into vintage stuff, ephemera, lace, charms, or atcs.
Sorry if this sounds fussy :o

kitty falol
24-10-2006, 07:57 PM
OK, here's me..
I'm Kathryn, 33 and I live with my husbands and tropical fish  I spend my days designing and making hair accessories for brides, scrapbooking, reading, doing Japanese logic puzzles and absolutely anything remotely creative.
I've read everything by Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace and my sense of humour is very important to me. :D
I'm not really into sport or pampering (except with comfort foods )
I have to be a bit careful with alcohol as it isn't good for my back, but with much experimentation ;) I've found that baileys, vodka and cointreau go down a treat, but most wines and spirits are definite no go areas.
I like chocolates and biscuits and have quite a sweet tooth. I don't like nuts in anything, but I like them on their own  Also, I don't like any kind of mint.
Scrapbooking wise, most of my likes and dislikes are in my profile. Just to add, I'm still working on my first album of our Florida holiday last year. It's an 8 x 8 and I'm enjoying working at this size. (Strangely I'm not into Disney.) I'm looking forward to making some mini books of other holidays we've been on. I love inking, stamping embossing and experimenting with new techniques. I think I'm fairly easy to please. I like embellishments of all kinds, especially ribbons, brads and eyelets and I think I have quite a 'fussy' style... I never quite know when to stop:)
...edited, hehe, I've put it back for you Marge lol ;)

Oooohhhhh girls, we have just worked out the swapping list!!!! Well, it is version one anyhow, we will have to jiggle it a bit if we get more sign ups, just to avoid anyone guessing!
Like we said tho', we wont be releasing the partners til the 31st, just in case we do have any more sign ups. We havent had any more since the middle of last week, but you never know, and the more the merrier!
We have decided to close the sign ups at 9pm on the 31st so that we can get all the emails out that night. I think if someone hasnt signed up by then, they are probably not going to!!! If you do know of anyone who is undecided tho, please tell them to sign up before then!!
So, you should all get an email next Tuesday evening with the all important info in it - hope thats ok with everyone.

I wasn't going to do the swap this year but my DDs made me sign up as they enjoyed it as much as I did last year. They think it would be a good idea if I made them 25 little pressies this year:huh: I've explained that they will enjoy it much more if they just watch me open mine:lol:

My turn:
Hello everyone, I'm Natalie, or Nat for short, and I am Chairman (NOT Team Leader) of the Nooby Boobies the BEST Team in the world!! :D. I am 35 and married to Peter and we have a gorgeous son James who's 2. No pets!
I've been with UKS since last October and to date I have managed to make a grand total of 2 layouts!!!  So as you can see, although I love stash I haven't gotten to use much of it yet!! I love card making however and am really into stamping, glitter and messing about!! I'm experimenting with acetate too, but without much luck!! I love bright things, and funky types of paper that can be used on cards. I want to try exploding boxes, star books and all manner of new ideas just need to know where to start!!
Non scrapping wise I LOVE Chocolate, but am trying to lose weight...anyone who has a fool proof system can use there entire budget on this item if they want!!!!! Love white wine, martinis and a wee drop of sherry now and then too :D Smellies are cool too, if they fizz, melt or foam!!
Anyway all in all I really am not fussy...

My turn too then!
I'm Jenni, live in Glasgow and am single and 34 (AAAARRRGHHH) but still feel 21 and don't think I've matured since then! I work as a (mad) biochemist and outside work I am now a scrapping addict, actually my friends I work with think I have joined some kind of cult! I live by myself with my lovely furbaby Cleo! I love to scrap her but as she's a tortoiseshell (black, ginger and white) can be a bit difficult to match things too!
Scrapping wise I like most things that aren't too cutey cute (IYKWIM) or overly floral, large flowers to cut out are okay. I think I like most colours (at least I can't think just now of any I don't like!). Paperwise I'm liking Cherry aRte, Rouge de Garanche, Gin-X, American Crafts, Junkitz, load of others I can't think of just now! There's no point in buying me anything child or baby related as I don't have any and neither does anyone in my family. I do, however, love, love, love brads and can never have enough of them. I like flowers, ribbon, metal stuff, chipbaord and flower stuff. I love stamping and inking things and am really enjoying altering stuff just now and have been known to make a few ATCs.Homemade stuff is fine by me!
Apart from scrapping stuff I love having hot baths (although need to get my heating fixed just now!), chocolates of any persuasion except coffee. don't really drink much unless I am out.
Although I've written loads here I'm not actually that fussy! Can't wait to see what I get!
my go............
i've been married to mike for 15 years,know him since i was 11 and fancied the pants off him since 14,and still do:) we have 3 children,kerry-louise 14,shannon 11 and brandon 9. pets..... 1 dog,1 lop eared rabbit,1 snake,1 rainbow crab,1 scropian,and 2 tranctulas(sp?)
food stuff (get the important things done 1st!!!) i like milk and white choc and thorntons choccys(who dosen't?!) i can't eat nuts, they make me sick, but i do love marzipan!!,espec if covered in choc!!!!
i like my food(which is why i go to slimming world!!) and love fruit and veg and pasta.
nice stuff........i just adore stuff from lush, went there yesterday to get 'a' bath bomb and ending up spending £10!!!!! i like smellie candles(vanilla is THE best!) i like everything about christmas, halloween, easter etc. i'm into witchcraft, candle magik, talismen, crystals, that sort of stuff,i'm very interested in pagan stuff and the older believes. i use tons of essesctial(sp!?) oils(even the children ask for oils before medicines:))
crafty stuff...........i mostly use 12x12 but i do like doing mini books on a theme.my style tends to be lots of matting and layering with clean lines altough i do like to use patterend papers in small doses and on altered art stuff which i like doing from time to time.i like atc's too:) i have a dolls house that i've built from a flat back and only just started decorating, lights are the 1st thing but keep getting the wires wrong!!! i'm doing it in geogian style:)
i like metal charms and embellishments of all sorts!
dislikes.......blonde moments (sorry!)i do like their embossing powders though:) citrus colours, disney stuff and character stuff, stuff that is sold as 'craft' but is really cheap tack (like to keep to the real names, iyswim!)
thats it for now,may add to it later!!!!
i like fairies and the moon:)

Hi Ladies, can I add my bits now?
My name is Ruby and I live in Cirencester with my DH in a supported housing complex. I have 3 children. Jane (UKS id janeycutting) 36, Tim who is in the Army in Germany who is 33 and Andrew 30 who livesin Bristol. I have 4 stepchildren Ray 55, John 51, Mark 45 and Elizabeth 42. Twelve grandchildren and one on the way, and one Great grandson who is just 2.
I love chocolate (not dark) and most smellies (not lavender). I do not drink alcohol of any kind as I am a Salvationist.
As far as Scrapbooking is concerned I just love most things and am not fussy. (I really am very easy to buy for.) The only thing that I really would rather not have are stamps as I have masses and do not really use them very often. I also have a huge variety of stickers and peel-offs and again do not use them too much.
I would be completely lost without my sizzix sidekick and use it for sooooo many different things.
I am very excited about this swap, I have done a few and loved every one.
I went out earlier this week and looked at loads of lovely things and containers to pack them into, and can't wait till next week when I can start some serious shopping

Hehe, I've just noticed the sticky polls in the first page for you to vote for your favourite sweets and embellishments. It's public, so you can see what everyone has voted for.
Sorry, the observant fellow that I am, I've only just noticed this  Just thought it might be helpful (you can vote for as many as you like.)
...Oops, I've just noticed there's a couple more polls further down :)

Evening ladies.....
a bit of housekeeping ....
We will endeavour to get all the swapping of partners done as soon as poss after 9pm on Tuesday, so watch your emails. I would be REALLY grateful if you would all email me a reply to say a) that you've got the email and b) confirming who you've been sent as a partner so that I can just be completely sure that everyone has been sent the correct details(not that we're paranoid of course...!!)
There will be a secret santa thread appearing, where you can sign in as SS and send your swappee messages, whether they are questions about likes/dislikes, when you've posted the parcel etc...., and also you as the swappee can send messages about asking your sender not to post the parcel on a certain day if you are gonna be away etc.. BUT, last year this was apparently quite overrun, and it would be easy to miss messages, so I am more than happy for you to email me with any questions that you have and I will email your partner and email you back with the answer. It might just mean then that you are guaranteed that your question will at least be definitely read, and not missed, and that can be frustrating. Any info like if you are going away etc and wont be in to receive the parcel I am more than happy to pass on. Of course, this all relies on you reading your emails, but I think, if we all stick to one method, ie , just email and not PM'ing , I will be able to manage it better(I hope!!) If you title any emails as SECRET SANTA, then that will help too.
Everyone should be aiming to post their parcels by about the 26th ish at the latest so that they have arrived by 29th. If anyone does encounter problems, then PLEASE let me know, just so that noone is left wondering..also let me know once it has been posted and I can tell them to look out. Of course, there is no reason why you cant still use the SS thread, its up to you.
I will email you once or twice too, just to make sure everything is going ok too (you will probably end up getting fed up of me!!)
If, for any reason, a parcel goes astray, I am trying to formulate a plan of how we can all get something put together to send to that person so that they do get a box to open. I think it might be a case of cross that bridge when we come to it, but please make sure that your parcels are sent recorded delivery, so that they have to be signed for...I know it adds to the costs, but we really do want to try to avoid the parcels going astray as it will be so disappointing for someone not to receive a box.
I think that is all for now, I hope you all agree with everything I have said - If you dont, or have any other suggestions, please let me know, all comments gratefully received, complimentary, constructive or otherwise!!
speak soon - not long now!
long now.....Love

I've just got back from a walking holiday so i'm a bit behind here.
I'm annie, aged 36 and married to matthew - we have 2 boys, zadok 5 and elijah 2. I live a green, organic lifestyle and am Christian. I'm a cloth nappy maker by trade so LOVE fabric, fibres, braids etc - I refashion and recycle clothes as well and love trimmings. I also do more altering/mixed media than scrapping.
Here's my likes/dislikes from my profile:
Likes:
Fabric, fibres, braids and ribbons, especially unusual ones
Papers that look like fabric
Flowers in all shapes and forms
Natural materials including metal
Earth tones and sludgey colours, especially green
autumn
Medieval/art nouveau/preraphaelite
Vintage/retro/shabby chic - pretty but not sugary
Altered art
Inks
Dislikes:
Mass produced toppers and stickers
Plastic (unless it's really funky!)
Bright primary colors & too many pastels
Disney or anything commercial or cutesy
Sporty
That makes me sound fussy but really I'm not, I'm a grateful kind of girl. I'll happily receive smellies but prefer natural sorts. And I love choccies but boycott Nestle.

Hi everyone, just a quick check that everyone is on the list who should be - if you have emailed me and you are not on the list, then I've not received it so let me know ASAP!!!
Also, if for any reason, there is someone you dont want to send to in this group, like for instance, you've already been their secret santa before for example and they would guess therefore , then please let me know today!!!!! I have had a couple of requests which we are more than happy to accomodate, but once the names are sent out, there is no going back!!! I wont do "please can I send to" tho!!! I only intend this to be so that it stops the recipient being able to guess early and hence spoil their fun. Just thought I would make the point tho in case someone is thinking of asking and hasnt so far for fear of "being a pain" Please ask if you want to.
Love
i'm sorry if this has been said before......but......
if we have to send recorded delivery, then w have to put an addy on it so we can claim for it if it goes missing.........then we will be able to see who has sent the parcel and there will be no guessing!!!!!!!!! hope this makes sence!!!!

when I send recorded delivery I don't use the post office sticker for return address, I use my own business ones. So presumably you can just write house number and postcode or anything you like on the sticker/label.

Hi again, and welcome to Sallyl
Re the postage, I just put my house number and post code on the sticker so it could be returned, then when you get it, get Hubby or someone to peel it off so you cant cheat!!! At the end of the day, you dont have to look at that return sticker, and even if you do, you prob wont recognise the postcode and if at this point you are going to try and work it out, then I suppose you are desperate to find out early!!!!
LOL - just have will power ladies!!

I remember writing 'Santa Claus, the north pole etc' on my return label a couple of years ago and the man in the post office looked at me as if I was bonkers!!!
I like the idea of all putting the same return address on though - then at least if it does get lost it will go somewhere real!!
