I took a photo of DS which I love and I want to frame a copy for both sets of grandparents. However, I had a smaller copy printed in Boots earlier and the colours have come out really dark. I want to do whatever it is I need to do to make the colours look a little more natural but I'm not sure how to do it. I have Photoshop CS and I've played around changing all the lightness, brightness and colour settings but it's not working as I want it to. Can anyone tell me what to do please? I'm attaching a copy of the photo as it may be that I need to desaturise some of the yellows or reds but I don't really know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

how is this I just adjusted in curves which usually lightens it up a bit.

Here's my try. I duplicated the photo and did a Screen Layer at 50% then merged the layers. Then chose Image, Adjustments, Match Colour. Checked the Neutralize box and then faded the colour back in to about 80, Colour Intensity to about 140 and upped the luminance slightly. Finished with an unsharpen at 75, 2, 3
