I think I have persuaded DH that I NEED one for whilst we are away on our hols...and of course haveing a teenager at home means that I can never got on my computer at home so this will kill two birds with one stone...now I need to find the right laptop....any advice gratefully received..

cant resist the temptation - I use a camera for my photography lol
as for laptops I always say go for the best that you can afford I have a Toshiba with 500 meg of ram 1.73 Ghz and a 55gb hard drive. its fast and there is plenty of space. It also has a cd writer in it so that I can transfer my pictures easily. It was about £600 but I did buy it through my school. I believe that Dell do good deals sometimes though or you could try star computers in rugby or stak computers also in rugby. \they deliver really quickly have excellent prices and you can more or less specify what you want. No offence to pcworld but | have never found anyone in there who knew what they were talking about so dont tend to go there, but they might have some good offers. Hope this is helpful and that I dont get into trouble for mentioning non s[onsors but as it is not scrapbooking related i think its ok.

Me being me, I'm going to say an Apple MacBook (http://www.apple.com/uk/macbook/macbook.html). 60gb hard drive, 1.83ghz Intel Core duo processor, 512mb RAM, CD burner/DVD player, USB2, Firewire, wireless network card, Bluetooth and gigbit ethernet built in. £749 inc VAT
It comes with the iLife suite of applications, including iPhoto (http://www.apple.com/uk/ilife/iphoto/) and applications to let you organise music, make movies, podcasts, DVDs and music and publish websites.
Almost no viruses, no spyware, no adware, most drivers are built in, it looks stunning... well, you get the picture. ;)

Becks...your making me drool! Only thing is I've never used an apple mac and I might have to let DH use for internet access when we're away and he's never used on either!! How different is it to use compared to pc's and I have a data card to go in it to run the internet will it use one of those??

It's dead simple to use. There are a lot of differences but Macs are very intuitive, so new users pick it up very easily. If you've used iTunes, a lot of the applications have a similar look and feel.
If you can get to one of the Apple Stores (your nearest are Birmingham Bullring and Brent Cross), you'll get the full Mac experience and the staff will be able to show you exactly what it can do and answer all your questions. The next best thing is an Apple Centre (your nearest is KRCS in Peterborough or Leicester).
Not sure what kind of data card it is, but there's probably a way of working it out.

Thanks Becks...I'm really interested but Dh isn't convinced! He's gone out to buy a "what laptop" mag !! The data card has the sim that goes into a PDA init then sl;ots into the computer so that you can access the internet.
