Sorry, can't remember your name!
Just to say I was in the Falkirk store yesterday and was impressed at the amount of scrapping items in place ... however, their big packs of paper for a good price were stored on their end, as it were, with the packet bending in the middle! It was far too hot in the shop to challenge them and explain why flat, not bent, worked better, but maybe they don't know how we (or is that just me :D :D) like it.
PS loved their range of not just albums, but ribbons, buttons, cardstock (limited) and full kits to get you started.

The store them like that in mine too but there hadn't bent when I went in at the weekend.
Yep I have also seen the big paper stacks standing up. Okay for a short while maybe, but much better protected if they were lying down.

WHS in Bath has a small scrapping bit on the upper floor - but not much so far - mostly ready-made kits- I don't like ready made kits lol :)- however, their range of really useful boxes and bargains in the plain journals are great for alterers like me - all those journals i can make mmmmmm

the Leicester store opened a large dept a couple of months ago - it was great - i went in a couple of weeks ago and it had shrunk to about half the size. We do have the card fairy here in leicester so I shouldn't moan - but WH Smith had some things that they don't stock... *pout*

I walked past our bog-standard stationers shop up a side street in Bath today- BIG sign in the window saying 'come and look at our craft supplies downstairs'- so Intrigued i went down- not much there but some basics- a few papers (and i mean a FEW)- some really 'cutey' (yuk) stamps, some packs of card blanks, glitter glue, ONE bottle of adirondac acrylics lol- one each of stazon blue and another I can't remember the brand and lots of 'cute' embellishments, glitter and such- but I thought Hey its a start! - I went back upstairs and asked in they had any modpodge or diamond glaze- they didn't know what it was :)
but at least it is spreading! - the little shop in the bath indoor market now has competition from this stationers and the one in the corrider- which has a lot more than this one lol - maybe it will end up with a proper craft / scrapping shop?

Just a word of warning on the WH Smith cardstock - Went to pick up a bit of Prima card in Smiths this weekend to finish a LO, and every sheet had a barcode sticker stuck to the textured side - peeled one off but it left a huge mark - lady behind the counter reckoned they came in from the distributor like that.

They do, I have had some in a kit from one of the sponsors and the stickers were stuck on the back....I just left it there.

yup - they do come ready stickered from the distributor - but the sticker should be on the back not the front!! and they were on the back the last time I picked some up in store.
hopefully a one off

I had the same problem with the card stock that I brought when they first got it in, when I rang theit hesd office they didn't really want to know, the local store was more than useless as well. They just didn't get the fact that their was a right and wrong side to the card, its a good job they don't work in a fabric shop.

I was going to buy some card in our local WHSmith and found the same with every sheet of card there...the girl behind the counter obviously couldn't be bothered and didn't understand why I was complaining to her!!!! It is only a bar code sticker and could I suppose be covered up with a stratigically placed photo or embellishment but that is not the point at all.
the stickering problem has been brought to the attention of the distributor, so once that stock has sold through it should be rectified
agree it is annoying though
and as I'm leaving WHS imminently, I guess I shouldn't really be hanging around on this thread any more!

So where are you off too then Sarah, or shouldn't we ask????
no idea! (been made redundant, I only found out on Wednesday)
pretty pleased about it though really, so not complaining
(I'm going to apply for the job of towel girl on the Chili Peppers' next tour :) )
