Well I went to buy a D70 this morning and I  it even though I haven't done anything but stroke it!

So ladies and gents, recommendations for my lens wish list - please. I will be shooting a variety of this but mainly portraits with some wildlife, landscape and travel thrown in for good measure!

I want value for money and am not fussy about the brand but would rather save and spend a bit more than buy several lenses that are not up to the job. If anyone knows of cheaper end lenses that ARE up to the job then so much the better :)

Okay, definitely the Nikon 50mm f1.8. This is a fixed focal length which will work out at 75mm on the D70s, great quality, lets tons of light in (can you measure light in tons?!) and is great for portraits. The best news is that it's the cheapest lens Nikon make. Warehouse Express have it for £97

I also have a couple of Sigma lenses - the 105mm f2.8 Macro (£279)and the 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO (£159). The macro is an especially good lens which I use a lot.

Off the top of my head I can't remember which other lenses have been highly rated, but I  my kit.
