Corel Paint Shop Pro

Hi all
I am not a great photographer, and dare I say it do not have a digital SLR, I have a Kodak P850 and bought Paint Shop Pro as editing software. As usual these days it came with hardly any "prettty pictures" for me to follow. Does anyone know of any good books for it - not too complicated, or is Photoshop really that much better. I am trying to remove close up shots of people from busy backgrounds, I have managed to blur the background but thats about all, All these layers and rasters - (don't even know th difference) are very confusing. :wacko:

Me again

Thought I'd show you the picture causing me the grief. It's of my friend Linda and her DH Peter who died suddenly at work last October age 47. She adores this pic of him but hates it of her. I was trying to remove her and put him against a better background somehow. First time I've tried to upload so fingers crossed...

I did it !! uploaded the pic that is ! I've already cloned the bloke's head off which was sticking out of Linda's head but as you can tell I'm hopeless really. I just feel so sorry for her and she must have loads of other pics I could help her with if only I knew how. Thanks
