View Full Version : July Photography Competition - Summertime
Hopefully we'll all have some sunshine this month - so July's theme is 'Summertime'
I'd love to see your photos that scream "summer!!!" : interpret the theme however you like, be creative, have fun
This month's prize will be a generous selection of 12x12 papers and embellies
Rules:
1) Your photo must be taken by yourself, between now and July 31st, please do not submit a previously taken picture.
2) You have until midnight on July 31st to enter the competition, by uploading your photographs (you may enter as many times as you like but only one entry will be selected for the final 20) to the 'Photography Competition' gallery.
3) Please put July 06 at the beginning of your title when you load it up into the gallery as otherwise over time all the entries from the different months will kind of merge into each other. Only photos identified in this way will be considered for the top 20.
4) In the description when you upload, please tell us a little about the subject of the photo, and what camera / settings you used
5) Please note that you may manipulate your photo in a graphics programme prior to entering it in the competition, if you wish.
How will the entries be judged?
As this month's host, I will whittle down the entries to a shortlist of 20 photos (no more than one from each entrant - if you enter more than once I will attempt to choose the photo I think stands the best chance of getting you the most votes)
The criteria I will use to judge each photo will be:
1) composition
2) technical considerations (eg. focus, tonal range etc)
3) overall impact
4) does it fit the brief?
On 1st August 2006, I will set up a voting poll on the Community Chat board and also a link to the 20 shortlisted images. The poll will be open for 7 days, and at the end, we will have a winner.
Finally, don't forget - voting (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=117211) for the June winner is open until July 7th - if you haven't yet voted, please come and check out the finalists and show them your support!

It depends on your software Sarah a nice easy way if you have Picasa is to use the export function and it will resize to 640x480 for you. HTH :)
I took another one today at my daughters sportsday, see her midflight in the tartan pillowcase race (thats sack race to you and I ;) ) It's HERE (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=82692&limit=recent)

Thank You - managed that now - I nearly gave up as I had been trying, then when you said that I noticed a box to alter the pixels - clever you knowing I am on Picasa. Thanks Again.
Well I was flicking through the galleries and realised I had not uploaded to the right one! How I managed that I do not know. Hope it is in the right place now

I like your duck's bottom Karen
The easy way to do a link is just to right click on the address near the top of the page, and select copy. Then right click in your post and select paste. It won't come out as just one word, but it will be a clickable link.

this is definitely the most difficult shortlisting task ever!
I'm now down to 23 and am really finding it impossible to lose the last 3 - and I have already removed 10 or more photos that could easily have made the final
You've excelled yourselves this month, people, really you have
ok ladies - after much painful deliberation - here (http://www.bradleybunch.net/july06photocomp) is this month's shortlist, and here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=121892) is the poll
