Hi :) I was wondering if anyone could help me out with 2 queries? I have PSP X installed on my laptop and where I can do most of the basic stuff I was wondering if anyone knew if there was an idiots guide to learning how to utilise the programme properly (like a for dumies book) also would it be possible for someone to help refresh my memory - I have seen pictures where the pic is black and white with a certain item left in colour and have managed to do this once but forgotten how! it is driving me nuts! TIA

Firstly to get the B/W with colour showing through here is what you do:

Open your original pic, copy and paste as new document.
Close the original (always work on a copy - it preserves the original)
Paste another copy as a new document, desaturate/change to B/W, then copy and paste on top of the first pic.

Working on this copy select your eraser and a brush of a suitable size.
Next erase the parts you want to have show through in colour.

There is usually more than one way to do something in PSP and sometimes instructions cross over from software to software. There are lots of tutorials on the web for PSP but tons more for PSCS.

I started with PSP and now use both PSCS2 and PSP. By learning about the tools/palettes I found I can usually manage to get the end result I'm looking for (though I still have tons to learn in PSCS2).

Many of the books available give general instructions on how to use the different tools etc. but if you are looking to learn how to digi scrap or edit photos or web graphics then you would be better searching the net for item specific tutorials.

HTH and holler if you need any further advice.
