Well mine isn't either :( : but I only ordered the basic kit, which is under the customs limit. Could Customs still hold them do you think?

Hi everyone ^_^ i'm about to subscribe to this thread (thanks to liberty for the info about it) so i thought i'd subscribe to the chat. Anyone know when July's kit is out please? I'm not keen on June's (and i'm devastated that i missed previous kits :( they looked gorgeous - very 'me').
Hope to be on here - eagerly awaiting the arrival of my kit soon, have a good day everyone xxxxx

Hi Angie: I am a new subscriber too, and yes, I wish I had got some of those previous kits too!
I think that they start sending the kits around the 8th of each month, btu I'm sure that this thread will be updated nearer the time. If you go into the 'forum' part of TSR, Tammy usually tells people when they are on their way I think.
I got my kit today    just put the kettle on to try the coffee, which smells fantastic, then off to print out the recipe cards.

Ooooh it makes me wanna buy it just for the coffee and recipe cards . Nope - i'm being good and holding out till the next one is out........plus i'm still waiting for a reply to the e-mail i send them 3 days ago .
What does everyone think of this months kit? Any good? xxx

Not my favourite so far but it's amazing how that can change once you start using it. I'm using the Basic Grey for a swap and it's coming together quickly, but not colours I would have chosen for myself.

Sue did you get the images ok? Sent about 20 all together in about four different emails.
Hi all !
Pippin - Angie , July's kit will be posted on the Scrap Room home page on the last day of the month, it usually appears at about 4.30.pm onwards. Definately a great monthly kit to get, I can highly recommend it , I have been getting it since last Novembers kit and too wish I had seen it before I did ! You can in the meantime , if you really cant wait for Julys kit is order a Sampler for $15, which has 4 kits which will be similar in content to your monthly kits and Tammy usually tailors them roughly to what you usually want to scrap.
Tina, so please your kit arrived yesterday - did you enjoy your coffee?!
Anyway mine arrived too , not all the papers would be ones that I would normally choose to buy myself but as Sue says , once you start using them it often changes. I do love the Chloes Closet and the Basic Grey however. I also got my kit for being the random winner of the Get More Pages Done challenge , which is lovely from the KI range and my 4 kit sampler which Tammy has done absolutely amazingly well - some brilliant kits including a lovely Scenic Route Charlotte kit , and another kit that had a whole pack of lovely Making Memories velvet stickers, all in all incredible value for the 4 kits, and a lovely surprise. Oh and am really pleased I went forthe embellishment kit this month, once again very good value.
Hope everyone has fun using their kits.

LOL, yes thanks!! The sad thing is, I don't actually like coffee  !! (Don't tell tammy LOL) . Being a total chocoholic, it smelt so good I just had to drink it anyway: and did rather enjoy it.
I am the same with the kits: left to my own devices I only usually buy lilac paper, and bazzill in every colour I can get my hands on. Last night I did a DLO using the American Crafts kit, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I like it.
Well can I make a confession.... I havent ever drunk any of the coffee, I do like coffee now and again but it gives me such a bad headache, however I do keep meaning to try them. I have a lovely little collection of them and I do like sniffing them !!! OK OK you can all call weird .... but they do smell lovely dont they. I think I will challenge myself to usingone of the coffee's this weekend, maybe make my hubbie a cup tomorrow with my daughter for Fathers day and have a few sips of that. The American Crafts kit was my least liked one , but now Ive got it I think it willbe OK on a LO ... looking forward to seeing what youve done with it Tina , will you be uploading it on the TSR forum ?

Hiya Sue
I dont they will add much to the shipping cost as Tammy is shipping them internationally only in a bag not in a glass bottle for safety. I must admit I have ordered them as DH pays for my monthly kit whereas I have to pay for my regular stash so anythign I can get him to pay for I will !

How much is shipping?

hi- the kits shows on the last day of each month - shipping is usually between 10 & 14 dollars ( depends on if you have any extras - lots of yummy ones this month! or the monlthly embellsihment kit added). It is a great kit - i have loved each one so far. If you do subscribe mention one of us as tammy sends a sampler to them for recommending people.:D hope this helps

AJH, thank you  for your lovely comments btw.
Not bothered about doing all four by the end of the month, but found their online crop great for inspiration/sketches etc.
Sounds like a good month Tina, well I had been awful this month and not even used one of my kits... even though I have kept looking at them, must get a move on before next month ... this is the first time I havent used them before seeing the next kits, which will be up later today, no reflection on the kits - just me !
My pleasure re the comments Tina !

Now then (thumbing through Yellow Pages) where was the telephone number of that extension-building company................

Can I add my disappointment too please :( It didn't say anything about US-only in the rules. Having spent the last two days (!) working on my LOs to submit, I'm pending between anger and upset at the moment after just seeing this message.
It doesn't really seem very fair to drop this surprise on us now. I do understand the reasons, but it would have been nice to have been told all the rules from the start. I was never going to apply, (apart from the fact that I'm not good enough LOL), because I sort of assumed that the week-plus delay in post arriving here would mean that the deadlines would be missed anyway.
To be fair to Tammy, someone did ask the question about UK entries, but since she has been away it would have been a bit difficult for her to answer immediately anyway.

agree that it is unfair and it should have said no international entries -:(
Thanks both of you. :)
Can I have an honest opinion please? Was my post really that bad? I honestly can't see it. I was just stating facts and saying that I was upset since I had worked for two days on it and only been told this now.
And I find it even more upsetting that my post has been deleted and instead someone has said it was "negative" and she wanted me to "get another chance" (without leaving my post and let people make up their own minds about it). Doesn't the fact that she posted this publically in the *thread* make people think bad of me a lot more than the original post did? I feel really upset about the message she posted in the thread.
Not sure if I'm overreacting or not...?
Yep it still would have been disappointing for those wanted to enter but couldnt, but not half as upsetting on working on something especially and then finding out later...
Anso I really dont think you are overreacting, I must admit I didnt see your message on the boards over there (havent been 'over there' for ages) , I can really understand your upset and have no doubt that any message you posted would have been polite but factual, as you say it seems not very nice that she has posted in your deleted message thread....

Anso - how odd that your message has been removed. Knowing your posts here on UKS I am sure that it was your usual polite style hun  Obviously free speech is not allowed in the land of the free !!!!
Ladies, I rarely look at the scrap room posts and completely missed the design team thing.
I am glad they are getting a new design team as some of the recent stuff hasn't been that inspiring, imho anyway.
I am not happy though about the whole way this has been handled. First the rules are not clear, or did they change midway? Then, polite posts stating your opinion on the lack of clarification are removed and classed as negative.
Up till now I have had a lot of respect for the way we are kept updated about kits and changes but this leaves a bad taste and has put me off a bit, which is a great pity.
Thanks everyone. It's nice to know I haven't gone totally insane LOL!
I have just written a long reply in a PM to the pseron who deleted my post (and PM'd me the "reasons"). I have tried to be really honest and hopefully she can see if from my side and understand that you can be upset that rules have suddenly been changed.
(God knows if it's even legal to change contest rules after they have been published?)
I have also said that there are a lot of people who feel exactly the same as me. If it wasn't for Sue telling us yesterday, I'd still be here happily working away on my stuff - and I feel very sorry for the people who still are and are unaware of these new "rules" :(
Anyway I wrote a very nice, polite and honest PM to her and I hope she can understand it from my point of view. I'm looking forward to seeing if I get a reply and what she might say.

I'm furious about this as one of the reasons I decided to get the kit this month was to try out for the design team. Interesting how you have to use products from their kits but they wait until lots of people have entered before announcing only US people can apply sounds like people trying to make money to me.
lalamuppet
07-07-2006, 11:51 AM
also wanted to mention this is not the only kit board which removes posts. I posted on the Little Red Scrapbook message board with the correct guess for the kit and I evidently guessed too early so they deleted my post!
Up till now I have had a lot of respect for the way we are kept updated about kits and changes but this leaves a bad taste and has put me off a bit, which is a great pity.
Same here.... , although people would have been upset if UK residents were excluded at least if they have known up front...

I just think Tammy hadn't thought it through completely and the problem arose because she posted the design team rules just before going away for a few days so wasn't around to respond to questions. Obviously with hindsight this could have been avoided but we all make mistakes don't we?
However what I don't like is fact that anso's post was deleted. I saw your post and didn't think there was anything wrong with it - you were very understandibly upset, however your post was polite and reasonable.
I agree with Linda, this leaves a bit of a bad taste for me too, however I do love their kits and they are good value so I will still be getting them - but perhaps not be looking/posting on their boards as much in future.
However what I don't like is fact that anso's post was deleted. I saw your post and didn't think there was anything wrong with it - you were very understandibly upset, however your post was polite and reasonable.
Thank you :)
However I actually think the whole thread has now been deleted!! I can't find my second post either now and there's no sign of the thread at all. I think it's very, very bad that they feel they had to pull the thread. (God knows if there's actually any info *anywhere* now about it suddenly being US-only?) It was *not* a bad thread....scary that they feel like they need to censor something like that... Scary and very sad :(

The whole thread was polite and rightly asking for clarification. As I said before they should really put this change on the design team call page as some may not have seen the original thread and still enter. Isn't one of the current design team from Hawaii? Can't imagine she gets her mail any faster than we do.

It was me who started the thread as there was no clarification in the rules about overseas subscribers being able to apply, and i had a feeling we wouldn't be allowed, can't believe they've deleted it! They should really post in the rules that the competition is for US residents only, not everyone reads the boards and now they've removed the thread anyway! I can understand why Tammy has applied this rule, but it really should have been something she should have thought about before posting the rules, there are a LOT of overseas kit subscribers.
Maybe we should all enter anyway and they'll be so stunned by our fabulous designs that we'll get picked and then we can just plead ignorance, afterall there's no info displaying that non-US residence can't enter!

Got my kit just now. I like the papers but have to admit... most of them arrived in other kits last month. I haven't been properly paying attention to what's coming out in my various kits, lol, so the stuff in this kit has started to become duplicates. Will have to pay attention in the future and if it keeps happening will need to reconsider!
Totally missed all the DT hoopla. I don't visit that forum as it never felt all that friendly so I didn't even know there was a DT call! Just read back through this thread and it's a shame about the rule change but at least LOs are something that you can keep in your albums so it's not wasted work!
Hope everyone else's kits arrive today!

LOL I had to go be nosey and look at the forum! The thing is, she could easily say okay the DT contest is open to the International people and then just not choose anyone outside of the US. Then there would be an uproar that no one International was chosen. Not sure how she can win on this one though and I can't imagine her changing her mind was malicious or anything...just a nuisance as it was after the call was announced from what I gather.
Were many of you thinking about entering, other than Anso?

I agree, I think it was just unfortunate that Tammy tried to get the thread posted at around the time she was on holiday/in the middle of despatching kits etc.
Were many of you thinking about entering, other than Anso?
No, because apart from not wanting to be on a DT anyway, they also stipulated that they want the DT members to be active members of their message boards. Since I only joined around a month ago, I can hardly claim to be an active member. B)

11-07-2006, 07:54 PM
I was sort of considering it, but my style is not very Scrap-Room anyway, the DT do easy step-by-step layouts, which is not me, and I think I would find it too restricting just using the stuff in the kits.
Tammy never changed her mind about allowing non-US residents to apply for the DT, she just never stipulated wether we could or couldn't enter. She said she hadn't even considered it, until I opened my big mouth and asked!
My kit arrived today, think it's one of my favourites, lots of embellisments this month, don't like the paper salon papers though, there's always one of the four that I'm not very keen on. I keep buying the bonus kits, really need to stop that!

Having raised the matter which took Tammy ages to even reply to, the thread was then deleted and the rules were not updated. It's not that diffiuclt to add to the rules. I was considering entering too. Whether I would have actually got around to submitting is another matter.
Perhaps Tammy is trying to attract more varied styles to her design team as many are similar styles.
Sue
Hi all
My kit safely arrived yesterday as well, was everyones coffee a full little packet (as per usual) or was it only me that just got a little bit in the bottom of the little bag ...??!!!???!
Am still a little bemused with all this Design Team stuff...have had a little look through the message board and cant really find it clarified about the rules, know it must be there but I cant see for looking ! .... with regards to the UK members being excluded, maybe Ive just missed it . What about the UK members who receive their kits and see about the DT on their newsletter and either dont frequent the message boards here or the TSR ones , how are they supposed to know ????? My aunt , who is a great scrapper, received her kit yesterday too and called me about the DT but I had to enlighten her that she couldnt even think about it, she is currrently computer and even when she is 'online' she isnt registered here (for her own reasons ) anyway..... Out of a matter of interest what are the reasons that UK people are excluded ? I think its very wrong that the rules on the main TSR website does not state about this , if the guidelines / submission info has changed then they should be changed there .... fair enough Tammy is away but someone should change this , I know Tammy doesnt upload the kit to the site at the end ofthe month , surely the person who does that should be able to go in and change it .... I think the note about being an active part of the message boards is not a pre requisite , just required if you are chosen.
I am not and was never interested in applying I just think its bad that this has been handled in this way, I can imagine maybe Tammy doesnt want the expense of shipping to Dt members in the UK , she doesnt know what she is missing excluding some of the great scrappers over here! I think some of the UK styles would have bought an interesting aspect to their US DT. As I say I was definately not at all interested but still feel exlcuded somewhat, and as said before its left a bad taste ... as much as I love the kit (although havent been overawed by the last few months ones) and think it great value I am looking at other US kits.
Right I'll shut up now , thanks for letting me get this off my chest , so to speak !

Hope you get your kit soon Liz.

My coffee bag is half full. I don't know if this is usual or not, I guess I just don't pay that much attention to these things! I am more than happy to send you my coffee packet Anita ;)
Have to say it cracks me up... some of you so upset over how this whole DT thing was handled (or not handled as the case may be), yet most of you weren't even planning to submit!
Anita there is another kit much like this one, 4 kits in 1. Back Porch Memories. And, Homegrown is doing the Trilogy kit which is 3 in 1. Both kits will come up if you do a google search. I get the BPM one and love it; have had it now for 3 months :) Trilogy is new so am waiting on the first one soon.

The reason for excluding non US DT members was the time it took to ship!!! LOL. We have our kits before some US members.
Whether we were planning to submit or not, the whole handling of the matter, deleting of thread and non updating of rules was badly managed. Perhaps others were thinking of submitting and don't want to say.

Anita - a couple of months ago some of my coffee spilt too - that months papers still smell of coffee -but no harm was done.
I was considering entering - I'm sure I wouldn't have got in but was thinking about it, although fortunately hadn't had time to do anything about it.
But I agree with Sue I don't think it matters whether or not we were going to enter it is the way it has been handled that is a problem.
To exclude people from the challenge without updating the rules and removing the thread that asked and answered the question to me shows they don't care about anyone outside of the US. I wonder how many non US people will enter the challenge and when they are rejected because of where they live will they be told why or just left to think their work wasn't good enough?
Hiya Marja
Hoping all is well with you , I had a nosey through your blog (havent looked at it for ages) and see youve moved - great news , oh and your garden looks so lovely - looks like youre working hard . Oh goodness no worries re the coffee Marja, I usually mix it with some other coffee and stretch it out between 2 cups (just!) I had a couple from other months that we hadnt fancied which were packed full little bags so mixed some together this morning , with a good result actually , quite yummy !!! Thanks for your kind thought though....
As Sue and Liz have said Marja, its just the way its been handled really , I guess I just feel for others andthe way theyve been treated as , as you say, it doesnt really affect me as I wouldnt have entered anyway.
Thanks for the mention about the kits, thats great , will definately have a look / comparison of those ones . Still have the comprehensive list you sent me last year too do you still get any of your other ones? Ive heard someone else recommend BPM so will have a lookie at that one first.

TSR's loss really
I cant really believe that that is the reason given for excluding non US residents , I often used to look at the kits received threads and found that nearly always , since the jiffy bag packagaing, that us over here receive ours before some of the US people..... I guess in reality it is the increased shipping fees that would be incurred by TSR .....
Yep definately their loss.... and especially sad to have created this bad feeling over the handling of this matter....
Anita - a couple of months ago some of my coffee spilt too - that months papers still smell of coffee -but no harm was done.
Hiya Liz, no none was spilt, it was well sealed , just about a quarter full as opposed to other months Ive always had a full little packet , its really nothing - just wondered if Tammy was cutting back in general or if it was just me !!! Not even sure why I mentioned it now... !!
To exclude people from the challenge without updating the rules and removing the thread that asked and answered the question to me shows they don't care about anyone outside of the US Yep exactly .... its just not very nice and most unexpected ...
I have found this last page of messages very interesting to read. As some of you know I was the one that was "properly attacked" when I questioned the rules and why they were not there from the start etc.
In PM to one of the mods (after the thread was gone) I already took up all the points I now see mentioned in the last day or so here, and even though she was friendly (or seemed so) she said there was nothing she could do. She even claimed (of course I can not know if this is true or not) that she had "argued the case" for the non-US scrappers to enter, but it just wasn't possible.
For me, the problem is not that it's US-only as such, it's the fact that this was something that was said DAYS after the announcement. I'm sure lots like me read through the rules, thought "yes I can enter", and started to work on their LOs.
And the thing that makes this even worse is that my message (on the thread) was pulled and then the whole thread was pulled the next day. Now (as far as I'm aware) there's NO mention of "US-only" anywhere which just isn't acceptable at all.
I feel really, really sorry for the people in the same situation as me, only worse - that they STILL don't know they can't enter. They might be there right now working away hard on their LOs in good faith thinking they can take part. That is horrible. Poor people. This has been handled SO badly. And for there still not to be an OFFICIAL addition to the rules is just beyond bad (holidays or not).
*jumps down from soapbox*
As for me, I will enter my LOs for a UK DT instead and see how that goes...

There are two rub ons in the kit. One is the stitched flowers, and there is also the Heidi Swapp fuzzy rub ons. I think you get one large or two small, and they are words, and also patterns. You can work out what it says by looking at them in the mirror!

There are atleast three LO's that i might be scraplifting this month! Circles really seem to be in! I also have to admit to sucoming to the extra paper and cardstock! Well, you can never have enough card!

I'm on the waiting list for the card / patterned paper extra. One of the Design Team said she used her Craft Robo to cut the circles. I'm going to investigate that as all I've done so far is cut titles.

That's pretty easy to do Sue, the circle is just a button on the left, towards the bottom. You can rezise, or stretch to make ovals. I made a ton of footballs that way, the base is a white circle, and the top a black circle with holes in it.
I like the look of this month's kit, especially the Sweetwater and KI Memories. Now I have actually moved house, I finally have some time to scrap!
BTW, did anyone else spot a certain UK Mary Anne posting in the recipe card section about opening the pdfs on a Mac? That surely can't be coincidence!

I missed Mary Anne's posting. Too much of a coincidence I'd agree.
Thanks for the tip Kain. Now if you want to do a polo shape, do you judge the alignment by eye or is there atechnique I need to learn?

Sue,
I would use the grid to align them. Have you found the CR forum on here? It's a great resource and lots of knowledgable people about if you need any help.

I've seen the forum thanks Karin but haven't put enough time aside to start to discover the machine's potential yet.

Yes, it can do a lot, but to be honest, cutting titles in any font is sufficient for most things that I want to do.
Anyway, thanks for mentioning circles! I was a bit stuck with a LO that needed a little something, I have now cut a circle (with coluzzle, much quicker than CR if you only need the one!) and it's looking much better!
I agree with everyone else, the new DT looks very good. I really all the circles on that Joy LO.

Got my kit today - anyone else got theirs ? I think this is the first month that I have preferred the kit more on screen than for real! I really dont like the Gin X kit at all and dont think I will be using it, love the Go Fish and like the other 2 .... however still think its a very good value kit so not 'really' complaining!

Nothing here yet... But you have given me hope for today! :D Guess who's not going out now..LOL!
Hope yours gets there today , and everyone elses ! The coffee smells fab by the way... looking forward to that later .

I must put a sign up for the postie now as I have a dental appointment at 12. Thought it was the hygienist but they've just rung to cancel that for tomorrow which means I'm now getting nervous as I'm seeing the dentist today and not tomorrow. IYSWIM.

I signed up just in time for the 4th. Really looking forward to this kit as previously I was getting a mini book kit and haven't done as much 12x12. I realised when I was doing the holiday bus crop that I had missed it so here I am.
I got an email on either thursday or friday (can't remember which as I was ill and didn't open it till saturday) to say the kits were going out that day so not long to wait now.
Kerry I think they were sent on Thursday, hope you enjoy your kit.
Sue , really good luck today, rather you than me ! Hope your kit is there when you get hometo make up for your 'ordeal'!

I wasn't sure about the Gin-x paper, but if you look at the recipe cards the "two of a kind" LO calms it down a bit!

Not got mine either. Must be because we are further up the country Anso ;)
What time does your post normally arrive Anso?
Post can come anything from about 09:00 until nearly (!!) 14:30!! The last few days it's arrived around two o'clock - madness! Though we actually have had today's post (11:15).
So I'm hoping that it will come with the RM parcel van (it sometimes does) and that can be as late as 15:00 or after. Though I am expecting several parcels (magazines from the US, US order with chipboard alphas, crop-a-dile from the UK...) so I have BIG hope for today LOL!
*looks out through the window for the 52nd time today*
Me...impatient? Nah...!!

Well... the RM parcel guy just delivered my crop-a-dile :D ...but no kit for me today either... :(
