Hi all I was thinking of trying atc's but I have a question, if using playing cards, do you alter the front or the back i.e. 2 spades or back.
sorry but I have never done one before.
thanks

I usually alter the front, ie 2 spades, but often I cover the cards with my chosen background anyway. Sometimes the backs are quite decorative in themselves!

Also remember that playing cards aren't officially the correct dimensions for ATC's, unless they're poker deck, or kids trading cards such as Pokemon.
check here for all the info you need, and have a look at the ATC thread for more tips! Have fun :)

I have just started trading and use the playing cards in the tin from Tesco (97p), the tins comes in handy to keep the ones in waiting to be traded!!!!! I cover the side with the numbers and suit on and leave the back, I usually stick a sticker on with details.

AAh thanks for that, I have been looking at wait for it, the topaz craft site and it seems that size doesn't matter if they will fit into a sleeve, but personally if I'm going to make any I would prefer to use the correct size, so I will have to blag some pokemon cards off my son or buy some the correct size,
thankyou for your replies
If I decide to join a swap it will be on here not topaz,

Angie, why not cut your own out ....out of cardstock that you have and then decorate them ??? As long as the dimensions are right ...2.5" x 3.5" it is OK.

I have done this with all the ones I have made. As long as the card is quite strong (Bazzill is Ok ). I have only just started and have become addicted!!! :)

Hi,
If your cutter is metric, it is 6.5cm by 9.0cm. You can get 9 ATCs from one A4 piece of card.
I like to alter the card with paints and inks before cutting it out. Every card then has a unique background.
