Got mine today, great kit:D . Royal Mail did manage to scrunch up the card a bit but should be ok for the ATC holder. And even caught the postie before he tried to squash it through the letterbox so must have happened earlier on in transit. Just sent off my CJ too, at mercy of RM :( I did put it in a box, then in plastic zip bag, then in jiffybag ( paranoid or what!)

Look forward to having a play.:D

That happened to mine as well, the Tim Holtz doo dad card was all bent and creased as was the papers and card stock, I am trying to flatten them out at the moment before I use them on Saturday. My jiffy bag had been folded in half and put through the letter box :(

nejxr25
02-05-2006, 08:59 PM
sorry ladies about the bent item off to sort some pizza boxes so it wont happen again , (mind you it doesn't help when posties fold things in half)
i did make the paper covering the card a little bigger just in case corners got bent , but did not think it anything else would be damaged .

right pizza boxes here i come

LOL

I must admit I rush to the door when postie comes if I am in as he tries (sometimes for several minutes ) to crush, squash, bend items that are obviously too big into the letterbox. Sometimes they get stuck and I struggle to get them out. This morning I opened door in time to prevent this but he was about to fold a 12 x 12 card backed envelope in half to get it through! Never yet tried with a pizza box though;) They just get left out in the rain:(

Frustrating when car is in drive and am obviously in, would be quicker to ring bell. I'm obviously too scary;)

Jean,

probably worth investigating A4 type size boxes ready for the change in postal cost (assuming it is going ahead). You can get a size chart from Royal Mail to see what size costs what as a pizza box will become expensive to post and probably not needed for Alter It kit.

This kits theme is Alcohol & Games

Posting date for this kit is the 1st July , and just over half of the kits are already sold.

You will also be pleased to here that the website is now back up to speed , thanks to all those who were patient when loading the site over the pass week or two *(it's always worth the wait )

cherry im a bit busy to host the swap at the moment , if you get it all sorted i dont mind if they are then posted to me and i will sort it from there

so in other words if you get it sorted i will host it ,does that make sense ????

sounds like the bonanza alcohol ink class was good , second time eve herad about it , i have loads of the inks on the site and i sell them as singles so you can choose your own colours (if the colours not on the site just email or pm me), there will be more tim holtz stuff coming this week .

So far i can see that the following people are interested

Suffolkscrapper
SueC
culpepper

Im assuming its a 9 piece set jean so that would mean we need 9 people to take part so do pm if you are interested. Jean ill have a go at hosting it and feel free to give me any advice re hosting a jigsaw swap. As far as i can understand it each person chooses a theme and everyone decorates one piece in that theme. I guess the tricky bit is making sure that all the pieces are numbered correctly and named with a theme :D so any one else interested let me know :D If we get 9 names then we can go ahead i guess :D

nejxr25
14-05-2006, 08:55 PM
go on add my name , and yes they are 9 pieces , i could number them on the back before i send them out to the people who want to take part if that's any help , so there all the same

any way i will have a think as to how the numbering works , thanks cherry

Cherry Good luck with the jigsaw swap, I did the one earlier this year and it was great fun. You will need to number the pieces and it helps if you have the theme written on the back as well - avoids confusion at a later date. I would suggest you write on the back with permanent pen as when you alter the pieces paints and inks can seep through to the back and if you have written in pencil (as I did) the pencil can become obliterated.
The swaps were hosted by helenpp so she can probably fill you in better on the pitfalls than I can.:D

Wisher
15-05-2006, 03:27 PM
oooh i would like to join in a jigsaw swap please - if it is full - would you do a second group? and jean's offer of numbering the pieces sounds a great way of making it foolproof - I need that lol

So have added one more to group 2

lala28
Wisher
Jackie-n-cara

I have thought about this and how its going to work
* Jean if you dont mind could you do what you suggested and number the pieces for the participants that way everyone will have the same piece numbered the same IYKWIM.

* Then when we received the kits if each swap participant can mark their theme on the back in permanent marker pen on each individual piece.

* Next post all the jigsaw pieces into me with a SAE.

* I will then send out one of each set to each participant.

(the next step is down to you all to decide how long you want to complete each piece - I was thinking maximum one a week but that might not be enough time for some people)

* When you have completed your 9 pieces you send them back to me with a SAE

* I then send you a beautifull set of 9 pieces decorated in your theme :D

If anyone has any suggestions as to if we can do this in a better way then feel free to pm me. This will be my first jigsaw swap and it was the most logical way i could think of lol :D but ive never been known for my logical skills hahah

18-05-2006, 05:17 PM

Sorry just trying to get my head round the actual swap here. I send Cherry the "blank" jigsaw all with different numbers but all with my theme written on the back. Then I get a pack all with one number in but different themes on the back to decorate and send back so finally I get my original jigsaw back but each piece decorated by one other in the swap. Is that right?

suffolkscrapper
19-05-2006, 03:33 PM
ahh well that would work too but the ones ive seen - you pick a theme send em out and everyone decorates in that theme - then when you get em back youve got 9 jigsaw pieces all decorated by different people but in one theme so they co-ordinate - you can then frame them and they look scrummy gorgeous - does that make any sense??? lol

or we could do it your way instead jean - and that way we will get 9 scrummy pieces all in different themes that will form a set much like an atc swap - equally scrummy lol -

its open to the forum who wants to do what and ill go with the majority :D so please definate comments about what you prefer lol none of this ill go with the majority lol :D cos then the majority will end up being my decision and i dont do decisions lmao ;)

Hysteri-CAL
19-05-2006, 10:14 PM
I'll go with anything. The only comment I have, is that we will be sending out twice ... once with the blanks, and once with the completed ones.

I thought if we all did our own theme, and sent them to cherry we'd get nine different ones back .... which is what would happen .. if we sent blank ones with OUR theme on ... we get 9 back in different themes ...

*hopes to god someone understands what I'm saying*

Soooooooooo if we all send 9 in one theme, we will get 9 mixed theme ones back ! :)

JanTWells
20-05-2006, 12:15 PM
I'm butting in with my two pennys worth here, I took part in the original altered jigsaw swap where we each had a chosen theme and the finished jigsaws were lovely, I think if you go with 9 pieces from different themes you may not get a cohesive finished result - possibly more of a mish- mash.
The one I did is here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=66979&cat=500&ppuser=12074)to give you an idea of what a finished one could look like.
I know the swap I was on (I think we had 4 or 5 groups) was not easy to organise - I think Cherrys plan is good.

culpepper
20-05-2006, 12:34 PM
oh thats nice :) I think I would rather go with a theme so that I have a coherent finished one i can frame and put on the wall :)

jean is sending a message out with the kits to subscribers who dont post on here so give it a few days and maybe we will be able to fill up group 2. In the mean time if everyone who is signed up for the swap could put there uks name, theme and group number in permanent ink on the back of there jigsaw pieces and then send them to me at 65a london road, brandon, suffolk, ip27 0el that would be great :D

I've forgotten how we are doing the jigsaw swap now? Do we send blank ones to Cherry marked up on the back and then she sends out to everyone else to do their piece on that theme and then back to Cherry to send the full jigsaw home?

JanTWells
27-06-2006, 11:58 AM
Cherry have you got a full list now for the second jigsaw swop, as I am quite happy to do another one if it fills the list and gets the 2nd swop off the ground.:)

re swap

can everyone please mark on the back of their jigsaw pieces their ukscrappers name, and theme with permanant marker and post them to me at 65a london road, brandon , suffolk ip27 0el

i will then send out 9 pieces to each person numbered the same but with 9 different themes.

can you please include sae for the return posting ta :D

how long does everyone want to complete? I go on holiday the 2nd and 3rd week of august so either we go for completion before then or after. Im thinking after which gives us nearly a week for each piece :D
