Hi all, just thought I'd pop in and say hello.

Haven't thought of my theme yet but I do have a 5 x 7 Sarabook in my stash for just this purpose (have been thinking about joining a CJ for a while now)

Everyone's theme's sound great, will have to dig out my inspiration (i know i saw it around here somewhere  ) to do your books justice and get a theme of my very own.

posting dates 1 and 2 are out for me(sorry;))
no idea on what theme to do,when i've chosen,do you all do a page on that, and my book will be full of my theme?
or is that the theme i do in all the other books so that we all get a book full of mixed things!?
think i'm confusing myself already!;)
of to watch csi so i'll check back tomorrow:)

Welcome Tracey & Enola!

Tracey - the theme you pick is for your CJ, then everyone does a page on your theme so when it comes back your book is full of your theme. Ria's put a helpful link on the top posting to the library bit about CJ's which might help make it clearer for you :)

So glad we've now got a full group - hurrah!!!

Hello again

My name is Karen but my friends call me Enola (?!?). I'm 30 yrs old sahm to 22mnth DS and 11 yr old cat. DH works hard to support my stash habit . I used to be a tax advisor and computer software support consultant / trainer for my sins but a lot more human these days

I haven't been scrapping very long, infact my sum total is 2 LOs and a lunchpail but I'm getting there.

I am a fan of fantasy and sci fi books and am thinking of a theme along the lines of 'If you were a superhero what 'power' would you have' You know the deal, telepathy, x-ray vision, flight, the power to tidy a room with the wave of a hand :P . It can be as silly as you like.

What do you think?

Hiya everyone

Im a little scared to be taking part and having to show my work but really am quite excited about all this. The chosen topics so far sound great , will have to put my thinking cap on Enola for yours!!

Anyway , Im Anita , married to Paul, one DD Amy who is 12, 2 cocker spaniels and 8 cats. I live on the South coast just outside Poole in Dorset. I dont work as such but do sell books and some craft items on Ebay , aprt from that I spend far too much time here and I run the Lavender Lovelies team!

Really looking forward to getting to know you all and great to be on the same team as Debbie (who I know from here already!). I hope I can do justice to all the lovely journals that will be coming my way in the future. Maria I am fine with how long we have for each entry, if anyone wants it changed then thats fine by me too I will go with the flow!

hello!
Sorry for not introducing myself earlier, here goes....

I'm 27 married with two ds's. One is 2 and a half, and the other 3 weeks, so hope you'll understand if i'm a bit scatty the next few weeks - I'm also moving house in about two weeks time so life round here is a little hectic at the mo, but will hopefully settle down soon!

I'm mostly a stay at home mum, and sell a little craft stuff on ebay & through parties for a little bit of cash & mainly as an excuse to get loads of craft stuff cheaply :)

I've been scrapbooking since last summer, but only really got into it since christmas. Am a converted card maker!!

My other main interests are football (supporting Reading), and my faith in God.

Really looking forward to this CJ, and glad we're all in the same boat about being alittle nervous about sharing work & it being good enough - looks like we're going to have great fun :)

Hi everyone, my name is Sharon, I am 44 years old, married and have a 7 year old son and am a sahm too, dh also has to work hard so that I can buy the lovely stash available to us. I haven't been scrapbooking for very long only a couple of months. I have done a few layouts, altered journal, lunch tin, 3 ATC's a dominoe book and tag book. I have been fascinated with the cj's and excited now to finally be doing one. Always critical of myself, always thinking I could have done better and quite shy, only just uploaded on my gallery after gently persuasion.:) .............Speak again soon, Sharon x:wub:

Hi everyone, sorry i didn't get on the PC last night, nightmare journey getting home then having to put my DD hannah to bed etc...

I'm really looking forward to this, but I am really nervous especially as we have posting dates now.

I'll introduce myself. My name is Jackie, I'm 30 and live in Guildford with my DD Hannah is who nearly 1 and my DH Rob. I work 4 days a week as a Secretary at the same company as my DH, but it's not how we met.

I've been scrapping for a few years now but I've never been brave enough to do anything like this. I hope you all like what I do for you.

The dates for posting look okay for me, but I might be a couple of days out in November as I fly back from Florida that day, otherwise should be okay.

Looking forward to making new friends and seeing all your work.

Take care,

Jackie

Hi all
My name is Anne. I'm 44 with 3 DS's (10, 7 & 3). I don't have any pets as 4 males in the house make enough noise and mess on their own! I'm another SAHM, although that will probably change in the next year or two as the youngest has just started nursery and I'm not planning on having any more.
I don't have a problem with any of the dates at the moment, DH is an IT contractor so we tend to do everything at the last minute depending on his work.
I've been scrapping for a couple of years but never done anything like this before. I took part in the cc last weekend and really enjoyed it and the people I 'met' during the run-up. So I thought it would be good to get a bit more involved in UKS, try something new and make some new friends.

Hi Everyone!!
Isn't great to have our own thread! A little about me....
Am also called Maria so this could get a little confusing  I'm 38 and recently widowed so now just have me and the 3 cats to look after. I've been a cardmaker for years but have really only just "discovered" scrapping and I love it!! I teach cardmaking workshops at a local craft shop - which I love doing.
I've been desperate to get involved in a cj group after seeing some beautiful examples that a friend, Theresa b, has shown me so here I am :)
Was starting to get really nervous about this but from reading all your posts you all seem to be having the same feelings so that made me feel a bit better
Speak to you all soon x

Ria979902
26-04-2006, 03:48 PM
OK So things don't get too confusing you can all call me Ria unless anything else springs to mind:lol:

as you're all introduction yourselves I'll tell you a bit about me too if you like:)

I'm 35 and married with 3 children 2 boys aged 9 & 4 and a little madam 6 going on 16 at the moment, live in sunny cornwall (well it is today;)) and am a sahm at the moment although am a qualified florist so may well go back to that one day. Been scrapping since last july and love it only wish i'd discovered it earlier-although my dh Rob doesn't!!!!
I took part in my first cj almost as soon as I joined uks and joined up not even knowing what a cj was,but I enjoyed it and am now taking part in a doodle cj,which has just started.
Any questions/problems or queries please don't hesitate to ask-I won't bite I promise:D I know starting a cj and the first posting can be quite nerve wrecking but once you receive the next cj to do it's all good fun and the best bit is getting your completed cj back at the end:)

Hello again, I managed to snatch some time on the PC while Rob cooks dinner. I can't wait to get started now and I've been having some ideas for layouts already, and it gives me a good excuse to go shopping for more stash.

Anita - I think i'm going to use a Sara Book or Sara Journal for my CJ, but I haven't really looked that hard so might change my mind.

Ria - A question for you - do we do single layouts or double, or can we choose?

Hope everyone's enjoying the sunny evening, I can't wait for summer to arrive.

Jackie

Ria979902
26-04-2006, 08:48 PM
Jackie-you do a double layout in each cj:)

debbiem
26-04-2006, 08:50 PM
just to check - do we do a lo in our own cj before first posting? or do we only do the covers, signing in page & instructions?

Ria979902
26-04-2006, 09:07 PM
the covers, signing in page, instructions & double LO in your cj, then a dlo in every other cj you receive:)

debbiem
26-04-2006, 10:46 PM
thanks Ria - that's what i thought to start with, then i read the library articles & got confused -lol!

have started making my CJ, but ran out of inspiration so went to look in the gallery for ideas, and now panicking again as they're all soooo good. A bit scared about scrapping without photo's....

Ria979902
26-04-2006, 11:05 PM
You can use photos:) it's entirely up to you or pictures from magazines/books etc.,

annie2
26-04-2006, 11:07 PM
Evening all
I think I will use a Pink Pig journal that I've already got for my CJ. Ria it's 8x8. Do you think that's o.k. or do you think it's too big for a newbie?

Debbie-I know what you mean about no photos, I think that's why I chose the theme 'Words to live by'. I thought that people could either put in their own words of wisdom or a favourite quote that inspires them.

I'd better get a move on though. I'm afraid I'm one of those people who tends to do nothing until the deadline is looming!

I didn't realise we always posted to the same person, that should make it easier. Looking forward to starting.

Ria979902

Sorry, me again with another question.... what sort of things need to be included in the introduction? Just looking at some in the gallery & they seem to be really long but can't really read any to work out what they're writing!

Ria979902
26-04-2006, 11:29 PM
Debbie you basically need to write what you want included in your cj, ie whether you're happy with bulky things, whether you mind if they use things that may not be acid free, just your ideas for what you'd like your cj to end up like,Just something along the lines of...welcome to my cj I've chosen the theme.............because................. I'd like you to include/create...................etc.,etc., hope that helps.

Hi All

Thanks JAckie P , I will look at the Sara book idea, and also the Pink Pig journals as Ive heard them mentioned.

Thanks ever so much for the details of who Im sending too, and for answering questions tonight. I do hope that people will include photos in mine as my theme is scenery and it would be lovely to see some fab photos, and maybe it will make it easier too with being able to easily include a photo with my theme, although I hadnt thought of that in the first place !

I know what you mean Debbie, there is some stunning work in the gallery isnt there ... HELP!!!

Catch up with you tomorrow girls.

Morning Rebels- thanks for the pm Ria.

I've made a book for this as the round sarahbook that i had was slightly too small and the 7 gypsies that i had was also too small. It's about 7 inches squared and was vey easy to make. The decorating will be hard though. Have put paper and text on the front cover and need to get a move on as i have 2 others starting soon.

Yeah I know what you mean Tracy .... at the endof the day we can only do our best , and I am sure they will all be very lovely!

I used to be scared of Worzel Gummidge....... and...... terrified....... of........ Cat........... Weasel ...........!!!!!!!!!!!!! (shudder) Oh and Lizzie Dripping that used to scare me too and another tv program haunts me but know one seems to know what I am ever going on about , I cat remember the details of what it was even about but it had something to do with pylons ........... dont worry I am slightly mad....

Am finishing off my newbie tag swap tags tonight, they were scary enough - let alone a whole journal !!

Right off to have a stiff drink to scare away Cat Weasel and co...............

Blimey, went to stay at my sister's for the night as Dh is away this week and get bag to pages and pages of chat!

If my theme (if you had a superpower what would it be?) is too obscure please let me know, more than happy to change it.

Very nervous about this, same as everybody else I think, just the idea of working on someone elses project is a bit daunting. As you say though Ria, I think it will get easier once the first posting is done.

Haven't started work on my sarabook yet, think I might work on it at my next crop and poss during crop time at Bonanza.

If it's any consolation I'm just as nervous as everyone else. But this is a newbie CJ so we're all in the same boat really. I've dithered for ages about joining one so now I'm just going to try and enjoy it.

Sharon-I saw your other post about bookrings. You can get normal metal ones in Partners stationers. The ones I got are 1inch. I can't remember what size you were looking for.

it's been hard annie. I haven't been able to put calamine on her and the doc told me i HAD to dose her with piriton to stop her scratching (she gets this for the eczema anyway) Her arm went septic and I was very scared but luckily I had some bacroban and sorted that straight away so it's calmed down now. Her sleep is constantly disturbed because of the eczema anyway but it's been a lot worse with the pox- I've been up rubbing her for hours to try and stop her scratching. The eczema really is a a curse

If you want to do that than that's fine by me although I expect to see a photo of it when you get your cj back:lol:

As for eczema,my eldest ds is now 9 but as a baby he had it very bad and after months of steriod creams and potions from the doctors, I got fed up as it was getting no better and didn't like using the steriod cream,so took him to a homeopath, within 3 months of taking homeopathic remedies his eczema was almost gone and he ony now years later has the occasional flare up when he's ill or stressed, but very mild. Might be worth a try if you're into that sort of thing:)

I can wholeheartedly agree with you Maria about the homeopathic remedies, my daughter had eczema , not too badly, which responded amazingly well to hoimeopathic treatment but more importantly for us at the time she was having repeated ear infections, to the stage where they were having to give her stronger and stronger antiobiotics to deal with them but werent willingly to do anything else .... it probably took about a year before the ear infections were almost gone but more or less as soon as she started being treated the infections were much fewer and the time inbetween them much longer than before and she responded so quickly to the treatment too , the pain being minimised so much quicker. Incidentally apart from her baby vaccinations she has only ever had any others in the homeopathic versions.

Anyway back to the topic if CJ's , have a mental image of mine now on the outside , although how that will actually come together I dont really know, not really thought too much about my intro ,etc yet but think I have decided about my sign in page, guess I had better get a move on soon !

Hello all,

Well with all good intentions I was going to start my CJ last night but having looked at my ironing pile I reaslied that I really needed to make a start on it. I can't do anything tonight as I'm off to Slimming World, tomorrow night I will be busy putting up decorations for DD's birthday on Saturday. On Saturday and Sunday I have parties to organise for DD so I don't think I'll be getting started until next week.

I hope you're all having more luck than I am. I have at least thought about what I'm going to do, so hopefully it won't actually take me too long.

Sorry to rant on a bit. I'm just off out to the garden to enjoy the sunshine before DD wakes up.

Well done Maria and good for you for running most of it. Ideally that's what I hope to do. I'm off to the gym again tonight to get on the treadmill.

Well Hannah had another great party yesterday and even the rain held off until the character hunt game was over. She has received so many presents it's going to take ages to write the cards. I can't believe my little baby girl is a year old, I have no idea where that year has gone i really don't.

So was anyone else woken by the thunderstorm this morning. It seemed to be moving away a while ago but has managed to come back over us and with really hard rain also. At least it's good for the flowers and grass.

Well my goal this week is to start my CJ. My DH is away this weekend so I'll have some time in the evenings to get on and do something hopefully.

Some days you cope with everything life throws at you but other days your like a limp lettuce. It's hard sometimes juggling work and family, we get it right most of the time but it just does't work out every day.
Will try and catch some of you at bonanza - what time does it stay open till on saturday? have booked sat pm crop but not sure of timings

Hi all, just checking in to see what's going on. I've not been around much, this week has gone so quickly.

I still haven't started my CJ but plan to do something this week, I promise. Hopefully I won't be so disorganised once I start receiving them.

Hope you're all well and that those who went to Bonanza had a good time. I think I might do a day there next year perhaps, but I think i'll see what everyone else thought about this years first.

I'm just waiting for my DH to get home, he went to Cologne on Thursday for a stag weekend so I can't wait to see him, I just hope he showered this morning and shaved and doesn't smell too much of alcohol!!

Take care everyone.

Hi everyone, hope you are all ok and having a good weekend. Did anyone watch the Eurovision last night, we did, always do as we like a good laugh especially with what Terry Wogan has to say. Mind you had to laugh as my ds came down with his Woody hat on and proceded to dance  when the German entry came on and we were in fits, but could kick myself now as we didn't take any photo's and that would have been a good one to scrap, just goes to show you should always have your camera handy

Hi everyone,

Well I've done it, I have finished my CJ covers and done my 2 page layout. I managed to get some time on Saturday evening and finished it off yesterday. I'm really pleased with my covers and my sign in page, but I seems to lose momentum when it came to the DLO, but I'm still happy with what I have chosen.

Can't wait to receive the next one next week. Posting on Tuesday is fine with me.

Made good progress on it at crop at weekend, but can't believe how long it's taking me - think i'm doing something wrong! Now I just need to find the right colour pen to put in all the writing & I'm there I think. A good excuse to check out my new local craft shop :)

Are we supposed to complete the sign in ourselves aswell or not?

Enola, you're posting to me and I was wondering if I could give you my work address. My post is never delivered before I go to work and it would mean having to make a special trip to the delivery office to pick it up and sign for it. Our office is very good at taking recorded deliveries and I can get it sooner also. If you're okay to do this can you PM me so that I can give you the address.

Hi all

Marion , really looking forward to receiving it , no doubt it will be LOVELY. Tracy needs to be a bit gentle with me too ..... it was all a bit of a rush in the end..... DH was out with DD all day Saturday so I had the day free for scrapping and finishing my CJ.... unfortunately Ive been really under the weather with this horrid cold, chesty cough etc and have just felt so rotten that I didnt even look at it to finish off until today. Theres a few things Im not 100% happy with, and some I am happy with ! , must remember to have a bigger cover for any future CJ's for a start..... also whilst waiting in the queue for the post office I noticed I hadnt tidied up all the ribbons that are on the spirally bits of my journal....... couldnt believe that I havent finished the ends off properly so anyone please forgive me if they look a little tatty I will tidy it all up when it comes home.... next year !!!

Tracy , they didnt have any large jiffy bags in the post office, another thing that seemed to go wrong, and as it was late I sent it in one that fits it now but I will forward you another , larger one, on within the next week or so , so theres plenty of room for it as it gets filled. Sorry about that.

Anyway it will teach me that not all the best plans work out , have really enjoyed starting my first one and cant wait to see all the others ! xxxx

Hiya Debbie,

Keep meaning to email you to see how youve settled in to your new house. I think it was just a doomed couple of days ! At the end of the day I dont think I would have done anything different actually with my CJ , its just the cover size (especially once theres entries in there) and the ribbons .... although to be honest no one would have probably noticed the ribbons had I not mentioned it !

Hope everyone else has enjoyed doing theirs . xxxxx

Persephone- it arrived this morning and the doorbell got us all out of bed! It's really lovely and I can't wait to work on it.
I also agree about the envelopes.

Maria- I posted mine to you yesterday around 4.30pm. But I would still have hoped that first class would have got it to you today. I haven't done a tag myself so there'll only be 9 at the back(in case you think there's something missing)

I haven't uploaded my pages to the gallery yet. Am I right in thinking that we don't upload the entries that we do in other peoples journals but that we leave them to be a surprise at the end?

Jackie hope your daughter is better soon. We're passing a stinky cold round the family and it's my turn at the moment.

Marion , no parcels turned up for me today so I took a trip to the sorting office as I knew I definately had some to come.... and your gorgeous circle journal was one of them. It is sooooo lovely, I love the bright colours, I really dont know what you were worried about , cant wait to do my entry and think I know what I am going to do already. I love the size of yours its great, I wish I had gone for something larger , mine is just a little 5 x 7 one. I bet you cant wait to when yours gets home so you can have a lovely smiley time!!

I meant to add too that if you want to add a photo to your sign in tag then that would be great, no worries if not , I did intend to add one to mine but time just ran out !!

Wishing your DD better soon Jackie, mine had the same sort of thing the week before last, its horrid.

Oh and yes definately the same here about the jiffy bags!

Will have a look at those whove put them in the gallery when I can and may even upload mine.....!!

Tracey - Your CJ turned up today, my Dh brought it home from work for me and it's gorgeous, I love the papers you used. I hope I can do just as good a job as you have.

My DD seems to be better, although not eating or drinking much at the moment, hopefully she'll get a good nights sleep and feel much better tomorrow.

Sharon - Mine did go today so hopefully you will get it tomorrow, please let me know that it arrived safe and sound.

Have a good day tomorrow everyone.

Hi all

Im back now, Heather I got one of the Artbase pizza boxes when they did them earlier in the year and it was fab , maybe not things I would normally buy but very good value anyway. I really wanted to order another when I saw they were doing them again but have spent a little too much lately! Havent started on my entry for Marions CJ but have lots of ideas and am hoping to get it done this week. Hope everyone else has had a good weekend and nice weather, we had a great time camping , lots of lovely long walks in the forest and a trip to Longleat as well , stacks of photos taken too !!

Sorry Enola and Tracey, I did have a bad week last week!!

My DD is now all better and I have had a lovely relaxing weekend. We went to a Wedding yesterday and it was absolutely perfect and we had a wonderful time, better still DD was with my parents all night, but I did miss her like mad.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend, the weather has been just fantastic, hope we get plenty more like this.

Take care everyone.

Glad she's better Jackie.

I've decided what i'm doing in Debbie's CJ and hopefully I'll get started today.

Made a paperbag book last night for MIL who retired last month but is starting work for dh tomorrow  no peace for her eh. She's only going to be part time though and it'll give her extra money to her pension.

Hi all,

It's a lovely day today so far. I'm running the race for life today. I know my ticker says tomorrow but I changed my day so that I could run with a girl from work.

Unfortunately we have not done as much training as we would have liked so I think walking the race for life is more appropriate. I'm quite nervous as it's going to be about 27oC today and the race is at 2pm, the hottest part of the day and in Stoke Park where there is very little shade. Wish me luck because I am going to need it.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, make the most of the weather. We're going to have some friends round for a barbeque tonight so at least I don't have to cook!!

Have been thinking about my CJ and have a few ideas and cannot wait to get started.

Just off for some breakfast now.

Take care

Jackie
