Hi Pam

I use double sidded pads or diamond glaze, glossy accents, anitas 3d glaze to adhere them to layouts. Depends whether I want them to jump out of the page or lie as flat as possible.

Here's a link to a layout in my gallery where I have used them:

You can do pretty much whatever takes your fancy with them! :)
Use them either way up (having them outside up is particularly nice if they are a souvenir, for example). Put photos in them, letters, images - you can buy stickers espcially for bottletops if you don't feel you have anything suitable yourself. The images do look nice with a bit of DG/Glossy Accents on top :) My favourite way of using them is to flatten them first - gives a nice frame aound the image them :)
Stick them onto things with the same glue you use for other metal embellies.
You can also put a layer of DG/GA in, let it dry, then put the image or a small embellie/beads/etc in and then another layer of DG/GA - looks like it is floating then :)

Hi

same sort of query re bottle tops, but I bought myself a bag from Wilkos, they are beer top caps, which I was told was just the same but these are red so obviously will need to do something to cover this, plus how on earth do I flatten them so that I get a flatter cap as they seem to stand too proud at the moment.

Do I paint them first, if so with what, or do I just put something on the top of it, oh goodness please somebody take pity on me and give me some advice!!!!

Bird I got a pack of those too and use them upside down and flattened - you don't see any of the red then :)
To flatten them, some people use a Sissix, some a mallet with a soup spoon - me, I put the bottlecap upside down on my floor (which is scratched to death already so a few more scratches won't make any difference:rolleyes: ) and use my eyelet hammer, just tapping it gently against the sides in an out and down type of direction, iykwim. Only takes about half a minute to get it looking how I want it :) Watch your thumbs tho :P
If you'd rather colour them, you could sand them and use acrylic paints - give them a coat of DG/GA or similar to stop the paint scratching off :)

 Thank you  You can but it might leave brush marks.... You can water it down a bit to avoid this, but use a few coats.
If you are using GA, it is not as runny as similar products. This means that you can "draw" a border around the item with the GA and then fill it in, and it won't go over the edge :)
The second method gives a deeper, glossier effect than the first :)

You can colour the outside with Tim Holtz inks - they work really well. Once you have decorated the inside try using a page pebble instead of glossy accents - it is instant and the results are better than glossy accents. My K&Co ones fit perfectly. You can also buy a small circle punch that fits the bottle top exactly so you can punch out a photo/stamped image etc etc to fit inside the bottle cap. Hope that helps!
