Hi Emma

Welcome to the world of digi scrapping:wacko:  I only started digi scrapping in January this year, but now love it and am becoming a bit of an addict!

I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 - but it is an expensive package. I wouldn't have had a clue without taking Bridget's fantastic online courses (which I found on here). Two hours in a chatroom with other newbies to digi every Tuesday and we were soon on our way. In fact I posted my first ever digi layout after only two lessons (and as I still love it, it can't have been too bad:lol: ) You can download a 30 day trial of this programme to see if you like it or not and the link is http://www.adobe.co.uk/products/tryadobe/main.html

I know others use Adobe Photoshop Elements - can't say what that's like, but you can also download a trial of that and the link is http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Windows

Hope this helps.....but if you are ever stuck on anything someone will also help you on this site.

To start you off all you need is a program that will support layers. I use photo shope elements 4. You can download a free trial version of that from the adobe website.

Alot of people have their own various opinions about what program to use, but basically it comes down to what program you feel comfortable with. But the basic principle is a program that would support layering.

There are tons of programs out there. This is a break down of some of them.

Learning curve .. how much of the program do you need to learn to get started, so difficult or easy. Time.. how long to take to learn it.. Cost.. well that is self explanitory.... Flexibility... well how much does the program offer. shadows, text, layering, photo editing etc..

Downloading freebies is one thing but right-clicking and saving so you don't have to pay isn't right and I would advise you NOT to do this!!!!!

I wouldn't recomend the right clicking either. If you don't want to pay, there are tons and tons of freebies out there, they are easy enough to find. the right clicking to avoid to pay is more like stealing and i would NOT recomend that. These designers put in an awful lot of time, and their talent. I have tons of resources on my blog to lots of tutorials, downloads, designers etc.
