Roz - Hiya, how you doing? Cor, I posted a long message on our old thread, to find that we have then started a new one!

Anyway, here's the reason why lots of threads are being closed and re-started, if so wish, SMAX (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?p=1893386#post1893386) will explain why.

Hope everyone is well. I have come down with a cold, something I don't have very often, suddenly started about 11am this morning, I found that odd!

Hi all. Just signing in to the new thread. I'd better go and see if the old one is there so I can read Beth's message!

Anne-Marie, a CJ is in the post today and on it's way to you. I'm out tonight at Rosemary Connely (not being doing to well on the whole dieting lark!) but I'm hoping to get the other CJ out to you this week, fingers crossed.

We've just put our house on the market so now I'm going to have a mad blitz at cleaning and trying to find a home for all of our junk! Not sure what I'm going to do with my crafting stuff as there is no way I'm going to pack it away and out of sight!

Hiya everyone, how ya all doing?

Eleanor - Received the CJ today, was here when I got back from shopping, silly postman left a note to say it's in the dustbin!

Had an awful morning..........shall I bore you all? ;)

I thought it'd be a good idea to get up early and be at Asda for about half 8, well, that's early for me, so me and Martyn were up at 6.50, bless him, he doesn't grumble, just gets up when I call him, and goes in for a shower. Anyway, had brekkie and left abou 7.50 and got to Cwbran about 8.15, so I thought, ooooh even better, quick whizz round, and we'll be back early enough.

T'was about 8.45 when we were just going round the corner where the fruit isle was, and I heard my registration number being transmitted over the tanoid, don't usually take notice of them when they come in, it's usually a lady saying in a very welsh accent........."Helor shoppas, good morning, and welcum to Asda, Cumbraaaan, today's offa is some nice welsh lamb.......blah, blah. I know I'm welsh, but when you hear some accents, especially from Swansea, they are really definitive, and sound every word.

Right, basically following this tanoid announcement, some person had tipped and splattered paint over the right rear door and wheel arch/wheel of my car. I felt like the hulk, and thought I was gonna explode. Turns out it was emulsion, cos although it was starting to dry, it peeled off fairly easily. The security men turned up, and said that they'd take a photo, and that I could report it to the police, and they could check with CCTV to see if they can see the vehicle drive off. They also offered to clean/valet it too, which is what they do on the car park underneath the one I was on, not sure who employs them, but anyway, I didn't have to pay, think it came to £26!  . So, I left it with them and collected it an hour or so later. The security bloke, bless him, he was ever so kind, think he was a bit lonely, but he rang me twice in Asda to ask how long I'd be. I thought, hang on a minute, how quick can you get the shopping done for a family...........hee, hee. Anyway, the 2nd time he rang, I said I'd be about 20mins, and I wanted a wee too! Met him down by my car after, and they gave me a receipt, and he was chatty with Martyn, and talking about not eating too many easter eggs. They got it off, though there is some under the wheel arch, and the car is only 18 months old, but that's irrelevant, if only the person who had done it, could have had the guts to go into Asda and report it, then I wouldn't have felt so annoyed. I would have reported it, and offered to pay to have it wiped off, as I would have felt so guilty otherwise. They must have taken the tin/plastic tub with them, cos it wasn't there, just a sort of white/cream paint all over the floor.

Right, that's my excitement for the day, oh, and when we got back to town, I had to pick up my hubby's prescription, cos they're closed till Tuesday, and town was manic, so we diverted up by Martyn's school, and there were about 3 cars in front of me, and all of a sudden there was a woman in the middle of the road, waving her arms to the car in front, then at us, saying, "Go away, go away, go away", so I a drove past, my window was half way down, and I said, "what's the matter with you?" and carried on driving, I was still a bit annoyed over the incident with the car, but she did looked very stressed, poor thing, and I wonder if she was having a break down, I've been very close to one of those, and it's horrid. Martyn said then as we drove past that she used to teach in one of the schools he was in. So, maybe she was having a bad morning, bless her.

Thanks for listening to me go on and on, this is the equivalent to reading 2 pages in one of your novels, but as it's online, we can call it "reading time with Beth Lee", today's story is about the effects that splattered paint can have on you.................

That's okay Sam. :) It has been a action packed day for sure.

It only occured to me though driving home in the car, that I had placed a tray of beef cubes in the top of my trolley, (the seat part), plus there were one or two other things in there too, as I hadn't even started the shopping properly at that time. Anyway, when I left my trolley with the CS desk, the woman said it would be okay there. When I came back for it, it was there, and at the side of her desk, didn't think anymore about it, and carried on shopping. Realised coming home that I couldn't remember packing the beef into the bags, so I guess that someone had swiped that from me too! Didn't think about it walking around, to check the few items in the trolley. Oh well, whose to know what happened to it.

Hopes for a better day tomorrow. ;)

Hi all. Beth, I'm sorry to hear about your Asda incident but how great that they cleaned it for you. I can imagine how mad you were though that no one had the guts to report it.

We have friends with us for the weekend, so I'm just popping on line whilst everyone is in the shower (not all at the same time obvisously!). I have all of last night's dishes waiting downstairs for me so that's something to look forward to!

Has anyone heard from Anne-Marie? I just want to check that she received the last CJ. Is it the 21st that she goes on her hols?

Eleanor, the bronze sparkly stuff is a Pepeo paint thing. I'll try and find out the exact colour later and apologies as I've still not made the missing 'o' for that other LO and I've forgotten what the size was now!

Hi all,

The CJ has arrived!!! Yay! And it is ANOTHER lovely one, love everyones pages :).... So many lovely favourite places..... Well I got home early & collected it from my friendly neighbour (he is soooo nice  keeps all my parcels safe for me!) & have..... well nearly finished it! Ho hum, over-excitement strikes again. That said I'm not loving my page half as much as the other entries

So Sam I guess if you have Emma's almost ready I would love to have it posted on, I'm really not sure what to do on Em's so probably having a look will give me a bit more inspiration!

When will you be ready for Anne-Maries Emma?

Okay, I might be a bit lost but I think this is the update on where we are with the CJs:

Hannah has Anne-Marie's CJ and is almost ready to post it
Emma has Jacqueline's CJ ready to post (keeping until A-M back from hols!)
Anne-Marie has Roz's CJ and will post on Thursday
Jaqueline has Eleanor's CJ
Roz has no CJs
Eleanor has Mandy's and Beth's CJs
Beth has Sam's CJ
Sam has Hannah's and Emma's CJs

The following CJs are finished and/or are with the last person before they go home:
Hannah's Coloured Tag
Mandy's Most Precious
Beth's Font

The following CJs have one more entry and/or are with the person-before-the-final-person before they go home:
Emma's Favourite Season
Anne-Marie's Favourite Place
Jacqueline's All Dressed Up
Roz's Things that make me Cry
Eleanor's Garden
Sam's Lyrics

If any of that is wrong (think I may have lost track a little!) let me know. Otherwise, we look all set to finish on 15th May!

The CJ has arrived!!! Yay! And it is ANOTHER lovely one, love everyones pages :).... So many lovely favourite places..... [snip]

Oooh, so excited about getting my one home soon :) Packing - well, I packed everything into my big suitcase but it's almost half empty so I am still deciding whether to have a half-empty suitcase and spend lots of money (I don't have) over there or to squeeze it all into a smaller suitcase and have no room to bring anything home but less to carry  Oh, the trauma

Just a weeny correction from me A-M, I have Beth's and Mandy's.

Beth has Sam's (that's the lyrics one, right?)

I know Beth knows what she's got but it looks like I'm hogging them, lol. Actually, I am now, cos I'm hanging on to both of these till the end now.

Also, I managed to remove Jacqueline's and Roz's pages from Mina's journal, so will send those back to their creators as soon as I find their addys.

Hiya all, how you all doing? Jacqueline, glad you had a nice time away, back to it now though eh?

Just wondered if you Terry Pratchett fans could tell me about a good ghost, thriller type of book, that my son Martyn could start reading. He's read a few books, but up until now, his choice has just been random, as he didn't really know what he liked, but I think, from what he said yesterday, he'd like to start reading some ghost/thriller stories. I showed him 2 of the few selection of TP books in Ottakers yesterday, but he didn't seem all that fussed, and said he wanted to finish the one he's on now, which is the story re the current film of King Kong, so I said ok then. I used to love reading, and would do more now if I could concentrate, so I'm trying to encourage him to start reading more, as it will be so beneficial to him once he starts big school in September, (11 years old).

Anyway, I thought I'd ask on our thread, as most of us have kids, so thought it would be nice to see what your kids read, all depending on their age of course, but just to have a rough idea.

Thanks a lot. :)

Well Beth - I've got a couple of scaredy cats in my boys, they're not at all keen on ghost/thriller stories, but I'll ask DD when she comes in (she's just turned 16 and reads everything from Enid Blyton to philosophy to chick lit to National Geographic)

Hi again, well Eleanor your Cj is one step closer to coming home, that's it winging its way to Roz for the last entry to be done - I'm sure you will love it as all the entires are stunning.
Roz please could you take a photo of my entry for me, forgot to do that before I posted it off - duh!!!
Beth, Blair (13) loves books he's really into anything and everything but loves all of the Anthony Horowitz, David Clement Davis, Eoin Colfer and Philp Pullman books he's also reading novels that refer loosley to his topics at school like things about Volcanoes, The Jews/Nazis etc etc. In fact I can't keep Blair going in books but on the other hand theres Kyle who i can't get to pick up a book, will speak to Blair re Terry Pratchett as he has a quite a few of his books but I am NOT entering the pitt that is his room if I do I might have to pick something up or have a tidy round and I am currently fighting a losing battle with him on the cleanliness front - YUCK!!!!

Hi all. Feel like I've not spoken to you all for ages! Thanks for the update Anne-Marie, very organized of you and I hope you have a fantastic hol.

Hannah, I'm ready for the next CJ whenever you want to send it. I'll be doing the cyber crop this weekend so I won't have chance to do anything with it until next week, so there is no rush.

I've just found out that Vodafone have not cancelled my phone contract and have charged me two extra months so now I'm trying to fight it out with them. I know I went into the store to cancel it, so it's a case of whether they believe me or not and seeing as they are such a big company I think I might be fighting a losing battle but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Emma, I've done your missing O, so you can forget about it. I very carefully prised up your page and gutted a tiny piece of the red, and cut a new o with my super duper new swivel knife on the glass mat. Tis done, all replaced and no-one will ever know (except that I've just told everyone).

The same thing happened to me with Vodafone, I wonder if this is something they do on a regular basis. After I cancelled I also stopped the direct debit, and then when the bills kept coming and I had no proof that I had cancelled, I was advised to cancel in writing, and by email, keeping copies, and pay up. I didn't pay straight away, but when the threatening letters started to come - we caved in. You just can't risk having a bad credit reference can you? Good luck anyway.

19-04-2006, 08:23 PM
Thanks girls for the feedback on the books. I think if it was up to Martyn, he wouldn't read at all, and I feel that it is just so imortant to read as much as you can, doesn't matter what it is, just the fact of learning new words. Reading is lovely, just wish I could concentrate to do more of it. :)

Sorry to hear about the phone company probs Emma, they're real pains in the bum. Hope it's sorted for you soon. :)

Actually Roz, I think the books he's been looking at are too scary for him anyway, and I think he may be in for a huge shock should he read one of them. When I get mine back - and that's a very positive when, not an if, then I shall scan all the pages and put the whole thing in my gallery. Maybe others will do this?

I just have Mandy's to do now, and 2 sets of pages from Mina's to return to their designers. And Mina's basic journal to do whatever with - she didn't do her own pages in it, so I probably won't bother to return it to her actually, thinking about it. Unless anyone thinks I should?

What happened to Kyle Jacqueline?

Emmak
28-04-2006, 01:56 PM
Eleanor, I'd just keep hold of Mina's CJ, you might be able to use it in the future. Not that I hold a grudge but I wouldn't waste postage sending it on to her.

Jacqueline, I hope Kyle is ok soon.
Hannah, have you posted the next CJ on to me? Just wondering whether I should be keeping an eye out for it.

Ah, knew I had forgotten to update one of the threads.... I will post it tomorrow, have been without a car & stranded for a few days (looooong story), it has finally been fixed today :) - Promise I will confirm when it has actually been left with RM. It's lovely  - So don't frighten the postie just yet!!

Eleanor glad you're being positive went to the PO today and complained regards their 1st class service - to say that I was wasting my breath is an understatement but I felt sightly better when I left!
Am I right in thinking that we hold onto the last CJ until the 5th of May then we all post on the same day or did I dream that bit?
Kyle is on the mend - he was playing football when the ball caught him in the stomach, he fell to the ground and knocked himself out, broke 3 teeth, cut inside his mouth, burst open his top lip, grazed his face, knee, hand and side - he's all swollen and bruised although yesterday he managed his first solid food. Been to the dentist and his teeth have ben rebuilt and he has to go back to the docs where they will decide if he requires stitches after the swelling goes down. All of this before 9am on Monday morning.........

Good grief Jacqueline, doesn't do things by halves does he? I guess it looks worse now than Monday. Hope there's no long term damage.

Yes, I think that's right, hang on to the last one until final posting all together (or as near as we can manage, given that stuff happens, as you well know, and you too Hannah).

Hi all, Big hugs to Kyle:wub: . The joy of being a Mum to boys :D
Beth, hold on to mine, please don't post it as there is no way that I will be able to resist opening it.
Hannah, sorry but I havn't managed to finish the next CJ. Will definately get it done over the weekend and posted off to you on Tuesday.
Can anyone confirm when the final post date is please?

Emmak
29-04-2006, 10:37 AM
I'm not sure about the final posting date but I don't think it will be the 5th of May as I have Jaqueline's CJ here that Anne-Marie didn't want posted until she got back (as I'd finished it a couple of days before she was on her hols) and she's not back until 2nd May. I don't think she is the last one to do an entry in it either as there are only 7 LOs in there.

Did anyone enter the recipe swap for the CC? I have an extra copy of my recipe and I don't really want to throw it away, so I just wondered if anyone here wanted it.

29-04-2006, 11:00 AM
I think we all went off schedule a bit with the posting dates, due to whizzing my CJ round & catching up on the missing ones. So I guess once Anne-Marie is back (hope you are having a fab time by the way!) we can all agree a date?

I still need to do my LO in Emma's before it will due back. And don't have it yet, so that would make the 5th difficult. As with Anne-Maries CJ, I haven't managed to get it to Emma yet, so it will still need the final LO.

What about saying the 29th May? Or is that tooooo long? It's the first posting date on Emma's new Cj! SO thought for those of us doing it we could post our final & first CJ's at the same time. Just thought that would make it quite an symbolic event

Hmmmmm thinking about it, that's quite a long wait I guess.... well just a suggestion, I'll go with the general group concensus.

Hope you are all ok - And hope you son is getting better Jacqueline :( I am thinking of him, poor thing.

Have a good w/e

Hannah xx

Oh, and I didn't enter the cake Swap Emma :(...... Out of interest, what did you choose?

Emmak
29-04-2006, 11:07 AM
Hannah, I did chocolate cheesecake. It's a fave family recipe and absolutely yummy! I was thinking of doing a swap based on the recipe card idea but instead of a recipe making a card with a technique or product on it, e.g. flowers, brads, stiching etc. Everyone would make 10 copies and then all swap. Not sure if it would work or not though. What do you all think? The idea would be that you could turn to it if you were ever stuck for inspiration.

Noodle
29-04-2006, 11:14 AM
I like the idea!.... We are doing a team addy/atc card swap at the moment & I thought it would be nice to have a collection of cards hanging off a hook on my shelf for inspiration! (the team addy ones all have a hole top LH corner so we keep them together on a book ring). BUT....... I don't want to spoil my next CJ completely..... There is an element of this as part of it  .

MMMMmmmmmm chocolate cheesecake! Sounds yummy :D

I'm happy with 29th May, if everyone else is. We weren't due to finish till June anyway were we?

I've heard from Nicky - she reads what we're up to, just doesn't post, and she will be around on posting day, whenever we decide that is, and will do the ratings after that. She sends her love to all.

Hugs to you Nicky.

I'm happy with the posting date, not stuck mine into Sam's CJ yet, so I know I'll have some time.

Chocolate cheesecake mmmm..............I love chocolate anyway, and any type of cheesecake, could I have a copy of the recipe Emma please? Would you like me to send you something for it, no probs if you do. :)

Just finished cleaning up and down stairs, and the bathroom, hate that job! Gonna have a quick look on here, then have some lunch. The boys have gone rallying today, I was gonna go, so I could take some photos with my sexy new camera, hee, hee, but I've got ironing here, not much, but enough, from the easter break, as we all spent a few days with each other and going out as a family, as we don't get chance much, cos of Si working O/T, so that was lovely, hence though leaving stuff not done. Plus I need to get to grips with my camera, aperture etc, so I didn't wanna spoil any photos.

Hope your all having a nice weekend, take care and maybe catch up with you all later. :)

Hi all and Nicky :). Beth, sure I'll pop it into the post for you next week. I hope you're having fun playing with your camera. I've had mine for 3 years and I still don't know how to work it. Plus I now need to buy a battery charger for it and that's going to be about £30. Ekk!

I've just found a bargain in my local charity shop and got lots of bags of stamps and inks at £3 for each bag. In amongst them was a Fiskers circle cutter still in the packaging, some decorative edging cutters and two other Fiskers cutters but I have no idea what they do so I'm about to go and have a look at the Fiskers website and see if I can find out. I'm dead chuffed as I've been after a circle cutter for months.

Edited to say: hurrah, I appear to have a oval cutter and a shape cutter as well. Now I just need to find some bargain templates, so if anyone knows where I can get them from, please let me know. Thanks!

I'd ask in the marketplace Emma - lots of people buy these and don't get on with them - I love my circle cutter, tho. But there might be someone with templates galore glad for you to take them off their hands.

Jacqueline - I have the new Fuji S9500, (hee, hee, I did type Fuki first),  it's got a x10 optical and a 9mp on it, couldn't believe it, it's fab. My old Fuji had x10 optical, but only 2mp, and I can sure see the difference with this one. Took a close one of Martyn a few weeks ago, and was experimenting then, but it is lovely. At least it's stopped snowing up there ;). Anne-Marie, it's gloriously hot today. I had suntan lotion on babas and then went off in search of a summer growbag, which of course no one had in yet! Also tried to find myself some sunglasses B) but these superlarge ones seem to be all the rage at the moment and they just don't suit me.

Thanks Emma - I *think* I have my idea for your page now (well it's between two now!!!) - Thanks for your comment re Anne-Maries CJ. I think I am going through one of those phases..... Then I worry that it doesn't look like I made an effort!

Anyway, that said I did a zoo LO the other week, just paper again  but a bit more messy & inky, so maybe I'm getting back to normal .... Good luck with the reading Em, at least you will have your family around to help with Robert...... Just seems a shame out of all the weekends in all of the years.... Both sisters decide on the same date to get married! Will send you lots of calm & reassuring telepathic thoughts!

Thanks Hannah, I think I'll need them but hopefully, like Sam said, someone else will always want to give him a cuddle! His sister was originally getting married in April but changed it without checking. Really bugs me as she knew Alex's wedding was not long after her original date. Breathe deeply and let the bitterness go...!

Right, off to tackle Anne-Marie's CJ now.

Hiya everyone, *waves frantically* I'm still breathing!

Hope your all doing well. Nice to see that some of you are going to Bonanza, wish I was, maybe next year, we could all meet up, that'd be a challenge, wouldn't it? Let's not forget okay?

Good luck to those who are going and helping out. :)

Jacqueline - My son is in year 6, and they are due to go to London on July 17th, for an overnight stay, and break up for the hols then on the 18th July, but he doesn't want to go. He said he's a bit funny about coming down in the morning, and having to eat his breakfast with all the others, ahh bless, he's so much like me, poor kid! He has no bros or sisters, neither have I, so things like this are hard for him. I said it will be a new experience, but he said he would prefer if we went as a family, god, he is so old fashioned, honestly. They were going to see the London Eye, Shakespeare, Downing Street, The Lion King musical, and The War Museum, and maybe one or two other places. Where's your son off to?

Forgotten what else I was going to say now, so I'll have to pop back when I remember.  Awful to lose your memory like this, innit? Too many nuts I say....................!

I'm the youngest of five kids and I'm just like this but my husband is an only child and he loved things like that and surrounds himself with friends! Guess it's related to our natural personalities too, not just the brothers and sisters. Last year I found out I have Social Anxiety - one of those common things that no one's heard about  - which is why I've always found social interaction difficult. At that age there is no way I could have done something like that as the thought of sleeping away from home would have made me feel quite ill so I can relate to the feeling! I hope your son doesn't get too bothered about it and enjoys the day. I went on the London Eye last year (my "hen" do: me and my best friend did that, some shopping and had a meal out) and really enjoyed it even though it was pouring with rain :)

Anne-Marie, I'm a bit social phobic, especially since having Martyn, as I then had severe PND and now Anxiety crept on abot 3 years ago, blimming awful, yet I love chatting to peeps, it's just the "getting me outta the house" problem, I will think of all sorts of excuses not to do it, but am starting slowly, by giong to a 2nd crop meeting at the end of this month, with some lovely girls from Bristol. So, I understand how you feel too. :)

Jacqueline - Martyn just turned 11 in Feb this year, so that's probably why it's only an over night thing. I hated school trips and always wanted to stay home with my Nan and Grampa, who lived with us then. My Nan would cook me and Grampy lovely egg and chips, and cut the thinnest of fresh bread and butter. I used to have a whale of a time, now you can't beat that, can you? I would like Martyn to go, despite worrying, and I can't show my fears onto him, as he takes on everything, and is an awful worrier, and moreso since my Dad died last year, something we are all trying to cope with.

Be on later okay, gotta take Martyn to school. :)

 I get out of the house with work but getting up some mornings is hard! But that's completely normal ;) Completely agree with you on the chatting too - can talk the hind leg off a donkey, and yet can spend days at work barely saying a word  I imagine you to be a really bubbly person in real life from your posts :)

Andy Garcia - I was wondering who it was in the pic. So, what's he been in? Well, that means you two don't have to fight me for him at least

bethlee
12-05-2006, 10:38 PM
Anne-Marie, funny how you should say about imagining I'm bubbly in real life, because (1), yes, I guess I am, and (2) the bereavement counsellor that is coming to see me, re my Dad's death, has also been trying to encourage me to do things like try and get out of the house etc, maybe I need to get a little job now, and generally, just positive things like that, and I told her that my personality seems to show when I'm on here or anothe forum that I go on regularly, (Bumblebeecrafts), and when in school, even though I wasn't exactly the well known popular kid, I always seemed to be the one that everyone would have a laugh with. Now, I'm far from the sort of person to blow my own trumpet, (well, for a start, I can't play one!), so despite the stress and illness since I had Martyn, I always try to laugh things off, or see the funny side of things, as so did my Dad, we always had a laugh and joke together, and would take the mickey over my husband, he'd just ignore us, cos he knew what we were like. But, I guess sometimes, I could just sit and cry for ages, funny really, don't you think? See, I can feel it in my throat now that I wanna cry, daft old goat!

Ermmm, as for Andy Garcia, he starred with Al Pacino, (my first love), ;) in The Godfather, brill film, also in Internal Affairs with Richard Gere and Steven Baldwin, ummm what else................Jennifer 8, Hard Rain with Michael Douglas, (think it was hard, the title that is!), Is everyone asleep, or shall I just stop there? ;) Oceans 11 with George Clooney, see, now he doesn't do anything for me, he's nice looking, but there's something I'm not keen on with him though. I tell you who I do like too, is, Mark Ruffalo, now he starred in Collateral with Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise, brill film, and also as a cop in another film, can't remember name, with Meg Ryan, (I think)! Also, Benicio Del Toro is not bad, though a bit odd looking, he starred in The Pledge with Jack Nicholson. But Al Pacino is my all time fave, he is mentioned in SamB's CJ, which will be going back to her, re music. He's in my fave film called HEAT with Robert DeNiro, Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore, to name just a few.

Okay, time out, think that's enough of reviews from the filmaholic tonight!

Cast your votes on the third strike please...............;) :D

Thanks for reading girls, I can't wait to win the Oscars, would be chopsing non stop!

Yup, definitely bubbly ;)

I do know who Andy Garcia is really, I just couldn't remember what he's been in and looking him up on IMDB he's in films that are very good but that mainly I haven't actually seen - think I need to catch up on some of them (can you believe I haven't actually seen any of the Godfather movies properly all the way through?! Or Heat and I've been told by loads of people that's a great film.) Ah, but he is in The Untouchables (completely awesome movie) and Dead Again (I remember liking it but probably not a great movie) - I knew I must have seen him in something

We're having a movie night tomorrow for DH's bday but the films on the list are Harry Potter 4, Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Wererabbit (DH choices), A History of Violence and Night Watch (my choices, probably won't actually watch!) We're filmoholics too and we'll probably watch anything but with different "favourites", although a lot of our top films are the same :)

Oh, yes, sorry, this is the CJ thread isn't it? :P  I will stop jabbering then

13-05-2006, 09:23 AM
 We're film buffs too, just love a saturday night, with a bowl of munchie crisps, and watching the latest movie. But over the past few weeks, I think we've rented out all the top films, so there's not much out at the mo for us to watch. This results then in both of us having a little argue over what to watch, and hubby goes under the stairs, which has a door, so you can walk into it, and we have all the dvd's, videos on shelves in there, so he calls it our dvd gallery, typical man or what? So, I just let him think he's important, and he goes in there and brings out about 20 dvd's and goes through everyone of them in front of me to see what we want to watch, by this point I have to look interested............when really, I'm seething behind closed lips, with a false smile! Tbh, he'll watch anything I fancy, it's me whose the fussy one, though we have both learnt over the years to give and take, so it works out quite well then. :) I like coppy films, police chases, spesh american films.

Jus wondered, as we're in a bit of a dilemma, with regad to holidays. Not been abroad since we married 14 years ago, and thought it'd be a nice change considering all the stress and illness that's gone on over the years, and my poor Dad passing away last year, that we could fly off somewhere, and more than that, take Martyn, as it would be a lovely experience for him to know what it's like to fly, before he's the age when he won't want to come. I got some brochures yesterday for places within Europe, quite fancy Italy or Spain, (aren't the staff in Spain on strike or something at the mo?) but I also got a brochure, which the woman gave me on FLORIDA. That would be really lovely. We just don't know where to start, and I know there are deals on teletext, but I just don't know what the places look like. Also, with all the packages and deals to see the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Sea World etc, there are so many things, how do you know what you fancy if you haven't been before. I'm guessing the operators whether on phone or in the shop will ask or tell you what's in each deal?

Is it a daft question to ask if it's worth going to Florida, or is this classed as swearing!? Also, wondering if the flight would be too long, considering it's our first proper holiday as a family, and hubby is very nervous bout flying, and I wouldn't want to put Martyn off either. I don't mind it at all, as I used to go to lots of places when little. I just think life is short, and I'm always worrying about this and that, and what for? My dad always said he'd love to go to America, but never did, and now he's not here.

Sorry, for the rambling, just wondered if anyone could give me some feedback on anywhere, would be grateful. :)

Thanks girls.

Catch you all later. :)

Morning :)

Oh, yeah, we are exactly the same on films - one or other of us will grab about 10 we fancy watching and then the other person gets to choose what we're going to watch. Except by the time we've chosen it's late so we don't watch anything

I have no idea what to recommend as a holiday - I love Canada of course and would absolutely recommend it but it's a 7-10 hour flight depending where you go in Canada or the States and then 5-8 hours time difference to deal with so that might be biggie - I find it so tiring, not while you're there so much but definitely when you get home! Definitely worth it though. Vancouver has everything within walking distance or a short bus ride pretty much - mountains, sea, aquarium, parks, gardens, shopping, bears, film stars, art deco skyscraper - and more things only a little further afield - whale watching, skiing...

I've never been to Florida so can't help and in my adult life my holidays have been in Ireland, Scotland, Canada, New York, Amsterdam (once), Jersey (once) and the UK so can't comment on Europe either ;)

Oh, suppose I better start tidying the house for the guests. DH isn't home from his drinks out last night yet

Well I have been to Florida 6 times in the past 5 years ...... And am totally addicted :D. I could ramble on for ages but would just say DO IT!!! especially with Martyn the age he is, he would have an absolute ball. There is alot to see & do, but it's mostly possible in 2 weeks. Driving is easy (I have been the only driver on the past 2 hols.... if I can do it anyone can!). I can give you tons of hints & tips if you want them, but probably best not to fill 3 pages of this thread!!! Or everyone will drop off. I have always found Vigin the best value to book the holiday, but Keith Prowse tend to do better prices for Universal/Seaworld & Discovery Cove tickets.

Check out the sites: www.thedibb.co.uk (alot like UKS & very friendly) & www.allearsnet.com for loads of Disney advice. I'll PM you more if you want to know :).

I also love Canada & Vancouver/Victoria area especially and have had some fantastic holidays and times over there. It is breathtaking in it's beauty, the city, the lakes, the mountains etc.... It has great facilities for outdoor lifestyles, boating, rafting, hiking, ski-ing etc.....

I LOVE Italy & have a cousin who lives there so am v.lucky & go often..... I could walk around Venice forever & have spent a few weeks there.... never get bored of it... been to lots of Northern Italy too (although not South & am dying to go there!).... For a family break I would be tempted to say think about somewhere like Pula in Croatia, it is really relaxed, lovely weather, great inexpensive italian food & architecture.... but cheaper. You can do a day trip to Venice from here & also ideal spot to visit areas of Bosnia & Slovenia (Lake Bled is stunning)......

And I like Spain, particularly Granada, The Alhambra Palace & Cordoba, all beautiful.....

Urm I feel like a travel agent so will shut up now!!! Just leave another message if you want any more info on any of the above!! :D

Hope you are all ok & those at Bonanza are having a fab time :D.

Thank you Hannah, yes please to any more info, that would be really helpful. Just need to persuade hubby that we WILL like it wherever we go, and that he WILL be fine on the plane. I can understand though, we haven't flown for 14 years, so it will be odd, and I'm just asking myself the questions like, if I book, will I want to back out, because of all this anxiety etc? But I know I need to do something like this, to get over situations in life, otherwise, how long do I put it off? It would be great for Martyn, cos although he's 11, he's still a bit of a babby, and although very sensible, is very young about things that some of the boys go on about in his class, and you can imagine what that is!

So, thank you Hannah, that would be lovely, will check out those sites too, and thanks to Anne-Marie too, hope I haven't forgotten anyone? Oooh, it's like the Oscars, isn't it?

There is a 12 hour scrap next saturday, and I'm going to pop along, on10 - 4.30 I spect, as I don't wanna be driving back in the dark, as I am not sure of the area etc, and me and signs don't go, it's as if they are BLANK! Anyway, rambling on again, so if I can master going to these places, one day I might be able to visit you! OMG she says. ;)

Jacqueline - I'm smiling here, cos I don't think Andy was in Heat, Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro, Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore, (main actors), were in it, did you mean another film? Bless your little heart.

I absolutely love the shoot out scene, and in one part when it's in slow motion, focused on Al Pacino holding his gun (ooeerrrrr!), the camera stays on him for just seconds, and you can actually see the dial on his watch, top watch too. Oh dear, how sad do I sound?

I haven't seen a few of Andy's films though, so if anyone has seen a few, I'll have to see if I've seen them too. I'm signing off now, cos I'm definately sad! Hubby just said now that we could watch Heat tonight, so think we will. We hired out Runaway Jury last night, with Gene Hackman and John Cusack, that too was another good film. :)

Hi all. I have to admit that I don't think I've seen any Andy Garcia films either. I went to see Confetti last week though and it was quite good fun. Filmed in a documentary kind of way but I still enjoyed it.

I've just come back from the wedding and Robert was fantastic. The only time he cried was when I was changing his nappy. The only downside was that he insisted on waking up at 5.30 both nights!

I really need to catch up with my scrapbooking now. Hope you are all well and enjoyed Bonanza if you went. Beth, your next scrap sounds like a marathon one, have fun at it. My next local one is not until june and I'm desperate to go to another one.

Andy Garcia, I know him, have met him a few times and been out on the odd occassion for drinks and meals, he is a brilliant bloke and is so nice to talk to and everything, he is really interesting and quite clever too, which did surprise me at first.

OK, I'm joking but had you all going there, sorry. I do know a few famous peps though, but nowhere near as interesting as Andy Garcia, best one is probably dougray scott, bet none of you know who he is though, he is a scottish actors, was in MI2 with Tom Cruise, and know quite a few of the interior designers off the telly. Definitely heard of Dougray Scott - lucky you ;) Just out of curiousity, does he go by his real name or Dougray in real life? I've always wondered whether actors with stage names aquire the stage names in real life too...

Well, this weekend we watched the Wallace and Gromit movie, A History of Violence and Night Watch - no Al Pacino or Andy Garcia in sight I'm afraid ;)

Sorry Beth I meant Al Pacino (SP?), its your pic it keeps on starting at me and luring me in, and I will not resist Mr Garcia, had a rake last night and found Oceans 11 going to watch it tonight and then I think I'll have to go and buy Oceans 12 so I can have a wee Andy/George and Brad moment!!!!! Love all the films based on John Grisham books - I am a John Grisham addict and long for his next books to come out and he can't write them fast enough for me!
Dougray Scott is a honey too, Roz did you go to school with him? I went to school with a guy who works on QVC (Simon Biagi) and Ross Kelly went to my school too, but used to think they were creeps and lets just say things havent changed! My claim to fame I shared a lift with Robson Green and didnt have a clue until it was too late!

Hi all. I'm not sure that I can match any of those claim to fames. I've seen quite a few famous people but the only one that I've had a conversation with was Keith Chegwin when he came to film at our school and persuaded us to walk around the roundabout so he could film us and then did a runner. How foolish did we feel afterwards!

I've just got the journalling on Anne-Marie's CJ to do and then it's finished. How are the last entries going? Are we still aiming for the last of the month?

I'm done Emma, I just need to send pages back to Jacqueline and Roz (the ones they did in Mina's - perhaps you 2 could pm me your addys, in case I don't have/can't find them) and it IS Anne-Marie we're sending the wink wink pages to isn't it? Or have I lost the plot now.
Then I just have Mandym's and Beth's to send on the final day back to their homes.
Does that sound about right?

And I have no claim to fame unless you count going to the same school as the neighbour woman in birds of a feather (see I don't even know her name and she was older than me anyway, and I got expelled, so she would probably not want to have known me).
Oh and I rubbed Barry Sheene's bottom (amongst other things) when I looked after him in ITU after his horrendous accident at Silverstone many years ago.

Emma, here's a million apologies for not letting you know. Yes, I received it last week, may have been Friday. It's the god's honest truth, I've seen it in the hallway on the chest of drawers, to take in the kitchen, and do you think I remember? All I see when I walk down or up the stairs is the recipe and always think, "oh those colours are lovely together, I must put it in my recipe book in the kitchen..........." Head like a sieve honestly. Thank you very much though Emma, was very kind of you. I'm bowing down in apology, can you see?

Does anybody know how to do the Here thing, where you only see the word here and you click on it and it takes you to the link?

I have no idea,

I AM NOT LOOKING.

I don't want to see it till it's home Roz.

To do the here thing...
Upload your pics. Highlight the url and press control and c. Go to the thread you want to post in.
Click on quick reply. Type what you want to say, e.g.

I have just uploaded a lovely LO, here

Then highlight the word here, and click on the icon you can see above the box you're typing in, which looks like a blue ball with swimming goggles on.
That takes you to a box where you can put the url you saved, by pressing control and v. When you click ok, your highlighted words will appear in your post linked to the url.

I know somebody had the entries we had done for Mina's CJ, but can't remember who, and if I pm'd them my addy, can you let me know please.

Who rates us after this is finished, and once we have been rated, are we able to host a CJ?

My team want to do one, but can't cause nobody has a rating for a CJ, they are all hoping that I get a rating and can be the host for a team one.

Roz, hun, you're as bad as me - but on this one I actually know what I'm doing (better make the most of it) - your pages from Mina's are wrapped up in the hall, waiting to go tomorrow, also Jacqueline's, plus the pages going to Anne-Marie (shhhh). And then I have Mandy's and Beth's all parcelled up for the journey home, waiting for the nod - from - um, someone. Who?

I'm sure Nicky is coming back on to rate us all once the Cj's are home - that was the plan anyhow.

Hi Roz. Originally the posting date was the 15th and then it was extended to nearer the end of the month, but I'm not sure of the exact date. I hope it's not too late as I need to have a rating from Nicky before everyone can post the cjs in the love/hate swap.

Can we agree to post on Friday (26th)?

Edited to say: have we actually all finished anyway? I tried to read some of the previous posts and the following are ready to post (I think!):

Me
Roz
Anne-Marie
Hannah
Eleanor

but not sure about Beth, Sam, and Jacqueline.

Hope no one thinks I'm taking over, but I just wondered if actually we were all sitting here with finished CJs waiting to be posted!

I've finished one but can only post on Saturday morning I'm afraid (and if I don't get there until 9am it doesn't go until Tuesday!) plus there are other things coming in the post to me during the week so it's better for me if it's Saturday so they have time to get to me ;) However, I have no problem getting to the post office before 9am on Saturday if we make Saturday the posting date as I'm off early to meet my mum to go to Blenheim craft fair and wander round the gardens whether it's pouring with rain or not
Jacqueline, Roz and Anne-Marie - various pages are coming your way - went off recorded today - hope it doesn't put you out.

Tuesday because Monday's a bank holiday :) Are we going to post here when they come and then open them together, or open when they arrive?

(Saturday and the post office is easy for me as it's a village post office so doesn't have the huge queues, opens until 12.30pm and I don't have any children to worry about  )

Oh no, is your post office a bit of a pain then? I normally post at my local corner PO but I've noticed that anything posted there seems to take longer than if it goes from the main PO. Even though I always get there well in advance of the last collection time.

Getting very excited now. are we all going to put pictures in the gallery? I better get a move on with the missing pages for my CJ. I may have to do it slightly differently as I no longer have all of the parts for it!

Hiya girls, I've had a poo of a morning, dog has barked at nothing in particular, and if you know what yorkies bark like, you will get my drift. He's driven me to tears. The printer has played up, the PC is sorta like "sticking", think it needs defragging, seems to be delaying and not catching up with itsellf, if you know what I mean............................ Sorry for the whinge.

What I was coming on here to say was, as I was going to the PO this morning after school, to post our Passport apps, and I've still brought them back home with me, cos I only asked the woman to see what the complete p&p would be and total cost of passports etc, but they can only do that by the check and send service, I couldn't believe it, and wasn't in the mood to do it at the side then join the cue again, so I left it, and did it when I got home. £7 per application to check them, and then, they don't really check them, just flick through them.

Anyway, what I was going to say was, I decided to post Sam's CJ today, as I won't be going near a PO before saturday, I hope that is okay with everyone? I posted it 2nd class RD, so, it will probably get there for saturday anyway. Let's hope Sam can contain herself not to open it till then.

I've also posted something else that we were doing, to Anne-Marie! ;) ;)

Just needed to sort stuff out here, and when things are waiting to be posted etc, it starts to play on my nerves, as if it is staring at you! God help me when I have my flanalette nightie on then!

Hope that is okay with you girls, please say. At the mo, I just wanna scream and run away. Hubby said to go for a walk, or go out in the car, but theres so much to do here, so I didn't go in the end.

Does anyone know, (that's if they have the Quickutz hand tool), if the part where the copper plate is, (on the blue model), if it should be slightly loose, despite being screwed in tightly? Had one delivered this morning, and it's a bit wobbly, and wondered if it was supposed to be like that? Fank ewe o much. I'm a going now.

My post Office is a small village one and the ladies get caught up in gossip etc and forget about the parcels they put on shelves at their feet etc etc and its only when you go back to enquire they go - ooops really sorry but I forgot to put it in the bag this has happened quite a few times to me and others so you need to go early and not at a weekend to be guaranteed good service!!!! [male voice] Mrs [myname], we have your husband. We are not letting him return home. We are going to take him out and viciously make him drink beer. All night. You may not see him again. Until possibly tomorrow morning... [laughter in background] See ya.

OMgoodness, what can I say about my CJ? I absolutely           it.

The other thing I can say is that when we started the CJ, looking back on it now, and just thinking after looking at all your beautiful entries, that I don't think I knew what I was supposed to do, not having done a proper one before. I didn't even put down on my pages what font I was, or why I liked it or them. I just stuck silly print outs of them, no flowers, cos I didn't have any then, till I saw Eleanor's lovely book, and saw all the lovely primas on the front cover, I had hardly any pretty ribbons, and certainly no IMAGINATION, my entry was so basic. Also, no excuses because my Dad had not long died, but I don't think I was thinking straight, and just did it anyhow, so ALL OF YOU LOVELY GIRLS ARE THE ONES THAT MADE MY CJ THE GORGEOUS ONE THAT IT IS. So sorry to have put you to shame, but I've learnt loads since the past 6 months have passed, and have learnt more about myself, and techniques, so the inexperience of my first CJ and lack of embellys is slowly making up for itself. Hope you'll be happy with my entries in your CJs'.

Thank you girls. :)

I loved all the little poems that people wrote about various seasons. Beth, did you write yours, it's lovely. Your entry was the first one in my CJ and it had plenty of imagination in it, it's so pretty. Jaqueline, I loved the little wooden flowers and brads that you used (and that Scenic Route paper is one of my faves).Anne-Marie, I loved the credit card, and Roz your pumpkin is fantastic, Eleanor, I loved the wire and beads, Sam your LO is so yummy and fresh and Hannah I loved all the embossing and flaps on your entry. Even hubbie was impressed with the finished CJ despite yawning every time I mentioned it to him previously!

Everyone has been so warm and friendly on this group that I've loved doing the CJ despite the occassional hiccup that we've had and I can't wait to start the next one with you. But those who aren't doing it, please pop in and keep in touch!

Oh, that's good news, I have my fingers crossed that you got it today? Hubby was home before 10pm thinking I was annoyed with him, it's such fun winding him up

I had to open mine and have looked through it several times, sorry I haven't posted earlier, no excuses but it's difficult to find the words to give each entry justice. I am in love with my CJ and am looking forward to doing the love/hate CJ with most of you - Eleanor, I hope you come and chat on the thread sometimes :)

Even though these words don't do any of the LOs justice, I would like to thank you all individually...
Jacqueline - your house is gorgeous, no wonder you love it. I love the little film strips of pictures and the colours.
Roz - you've made me like vintage style! I love the little doors opening onto the bath pictures and all the words beginning with the same letters. Your bath is lush too.
Eleanor - thank-you for sharing your childhood pictures, it's such a lovely touch. I love the little tags with the beach photos from different years.
Beth - I love the way your layout has curtains framing it, it gives it such an intimate feel and the colours are lovely too. Your living room is gorgeous and welcoming.
Sam - lucky you to have an excuse to visit Jamaica. I love the little tab with the hidden photo and the summery colours.
Hannah - thank-you for sharing all your other favourites too, I love all the things to open and look at and the colours are gorgeous.
Emma - DH wants to know where the lighthouse is  Your colours are so fresh and warm, it's a lovely bright end to my CJ. I love the pictures. Also thank-you so much for the gorgeous ribbon and buttons - the colours are lush :)

Thank-you all for sharing so much of your lives in the pages, I have learnt so much from this CJ and got to see so many gorgeous entries as the journals have had their brief stays in my house. It's nice to know that I get to keep everything in this one  ;)

Hi all. Anne-Marie, I'm glad that yours arrived home safely. I loved looking through it and seeing all the beautiful entries before me. The lighthouse is actually in Jersey but I figured that as Jersey is part of the UK it still counted;) .

Re Mandy and the CJ I posted - I have been on Royal Mail site, it tells me that the parcel has been received and signed for at the other end, but that's all I know. I'm hoping she hadn't moved house. She was on the boards on the 19th I think, but hasn't posted since January.
