*CJ NOW FULL*

Hi all! Well I'm very excited to be hosting this CJ, it's my first as a host, so please be gentle with me!

Can all of those who want to join please pm with the following details as soon as possible, so that i can figure out the route the cj will be taking:

UKS Name
Real Name
Address
Email Address
Contact telephone number
Any posting dates that coincide with you being away
The topic you have chosen

CJ format:
6x6 or a5

CJ theme:
How you interpret the theme is up to you. You could do a CJ on what you love/hate about summer, music etc. or you could make lots of labels, each with a different topic, and people then pick a label. It's entirely up to you.

Don't forget to use your introduction page to explain to people what you would like them to do, for example do you want a photo of them on their LO etc. Please remember to put staples, brads, eyelets on your pages before attaching them to the book. It's also helpful if you add your address somewhere in the book in case it gets lost in the post.

I realise that life can get in the way sometimes, so if you find that you will be delayed by more than 3 days within the posting date, please get in touch with me or post in this thread so that we know what is happening.

I'm really looking forward to starting this and seeing everyone's entries! It should be fun!

Signing my life away until next year again :D

My first thought was food as a theme as I absolutely detest bananas (the smell makes me nauseous even) and I love chocolate (of course) but then I thought I'd probably end up with 10 sides with chocolate so probably not the best idea  I shall have a think...

Hi girls, Just want to say hello to everyone and say that i cant wait to get started....im trying to think of a theme.....i have a few ideas but will decide shortly!

Emmak
05-04-2006, 03:50 PM
Anne-Marie, I completely agree with you on the banana and chocolate thing! I'm trying to be really good and give ds a bit of everything but there is no way I am going to touch banana so he has to wait until his dad is around before he gets any.Mind you, he doesn't seem too keen on it either!

Hi Georgia, good to see you here. Can you pm me your details if you've not already done so please? My brain is a bit fussy at the moment and you may have already sent them!

Hi girls. This CJ may have to go on hold until the girlie wirly CJ has completed but I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Emmak
06-04-2006, 07:23 PM
Hi all and welcome to Castey and Sweetiebabie. I've had confirmation that the CJ is fine to go ahead. We just can't start the CJs on their route until the other CJ I am in has finished. It's due to finish the 15th May and the first posting date for this is not until the end of May, so that all works out ok. Gives us plenty of time to think of topics!

Im so gald that this cj is going ahead. I was wondering, (can you tell im a newbie?) do we normally make our own journals for cj's and each person adds their page onto the one in our album/book or do we all do our own and then join it all together once its completed?

Emmak
07-04-2006, 03:59 PM
Hi Lynne. You need to either buy a ready made journal (pink pig and Sara books do them) or make your own, and then decorate the cover. You'll also need to include sign in pages, intro explaining what you want people to do, for example do you want a photo of them on their LO or sign in tag? And then complete your own double page spread. You'll then post it all on to the next person on the list. You will always be posting to the same person each time to avoid any confusion. It will then go on it's route and then eventually make it's way back to you. I would advise posting it in a ziplock bag and then a strong jiffy bag (and bear in mind that the finished book will be bigger when it comes back to you, so not too small an envelope.

Alternatively, you could make your own. I made mine out of strong card that I bought for about £1 from my local picture framers (mountboard scraps) and then bound it with 1inch book rings which you can buy from Staples or some of the sponsors sell plain and coloured ones. If you want to make your own but have trouble getting hold of the stuff let me know.

If you want to take a peak in the gallery you'll be able to see everyone's CJs and how they have made them.

Emma, I've decided to make my own book, will be 6x6 with a hard cover and book rings. Theme is gonna be left open, but you can't put chocolate or family in it, want people to think out side of the box. Thanks, I'll make a start on this this weekend ready for the first posting.

Hi all. a round CJ sounds like a fab idea. I've cut all the pages for mine and need to make a start on the cover. I bought a pack of book rings the other week and have tidied them away somewhere and now I can't find them! I might have to start emptying my drawers at this rate. Perhaps they'll turn up when I stop looking!

I'll leave the topics list open then unless anyone wants anything added at any point, and that way they will be a nice surprise when they arrive through the door.

morning all, my internet connection is still down at home so instead of being able to do the cyber crop this weekend i decided to work on my circle journal. I have done my front cover, instruction page and sign in pages. All that is left for me to do now is my own first page of love/hate and then i will be ready to post it off. If i ever get my internet up and running at home i will post a pic of my pages. Hope everyone has a good day today

Well I had already signed up for a Disney CJ that has started & the TPDW one.... Then I opted out of the TPDW one but this was full! I didn't originally sign up because I thought two was enough for me to try to do at once  - anyway, just starting to think about the GW ending & didn't want to loose touch, so thought I'd keep an eye on you all here :D. Sadly, Beck has had to pull out of the CJ becuase of home and work commitments. Although, I'm obviously sad to see Beck go, there is a silver lining in that there is now a space free if you wan to join Hannah. And if you, we all know where you live

Hurrah, that looks like that one is sorted then!:D For those that don't know Hannah, she's really lovely and does the most fantastic layouts.

I'm hopefully going to get the CJ route posted tonight and then you can find out who you will be posting to. I just need to look on a map to see where a few locations are - you wouldn't believe that I did geography A level, my geog is appalling. :( My family still won't let me forget that I once got Northampton and Southampton mixed up, not sure how seeing as the clue is in the name.

Anyway, that's probably enough revelation for one day. I'm off in a desperate rush to Sainsburys as I have 5 mums and babies arriving in an hour and I forgot to get any lunch in. The babies will be alright but I'm not sure that the mums will be too happy on Heinz baby food!:)

Emmak
27-04-2006, 10:49 AM
I was also doing a bit of a brainstorm about topics and came up with the following if they are any good to anyone.

Holiday Destinations
About the UK
About yourself
Food
T.V. programs
Seasons
Pet hates

Emmak
29-04-2006, 06:33 PM
I've just posted the route for the CJ. I've tried to organise it so the CJ is going to the nearest county each time where possible. This does mean that Hannah, Anne-Marie and myself will be posting to each other again. I hope that's ok, shout if not, I won't be offended! I've also added the first names just so it's easier to work out who is who. If anyone is not happy with their real name being posted just let me know and I'll delete it. You should be receiving the address of the next person in the link by the end of the day, so if you don't receive a pm from me by tomorrow, please let me know. Thanks!

Well, I can't believe that no-one missed me! I'm sulking now! ;) ;) ;) ;)

Seriously, I didn't even know there was a thread, and it's been going for a short while now, hey ho, though, have been in touch with Emma, as I'd nearly forgotten about it, and is all sorted now. Think I must have the glooms on me, as I thought and had that complex when you feel everyone is talking about you, it won't last for long though!

I really don't know what to do for mine, have had a quick read through some of the suggested themes though.

Are there any more updates, or new themes suggested? I need inspiration, because I no longer have a brain, or a head come to that! I think someone else is using it, and I have my suspicions that it's our dawg Oz! Hee, hee.

I don't know any of the newer girls on here, so a big hello from me to you, no doubt we'll all get to know each other, apart from the existing ones, the Girlie Wirlie ones, who already know one another.

My gosh, I'm trying to keep up with it all, CJ's, ATC's, and that's not including h***ework, c**king.......................... :D

Catch up with you all later.

RozRoz
05-05-2006, 10:15 PM
Oh Beth hunny, we have not been talking about you, thought you had fell of the face of the earth though as not like you to be so quite

I'm stuck on my theme as well, so am leaving it open, but stressing that they can't pick certain things like family, chocolate, etc, as want us all to stretch ourselves a bit and not take the easy root, plus sometimes you feel obliged to say you love your family, when really you want to put down that you love your new shoes cause they are soooooooooooo girly wirly :D

bethlee
13-05-2006, 09:31 PM
Gosh, nobody has been on here for a week. I haven't even started making my CJ for this one yet, yet alone think about what my pages are going to be like. I really hope not to hold anyone up. Do I have a couple of weeks to do something, yikes, I hope so!

Hope your all well. :)

Emmak
14-05-2006, 08:44 PM
Beth, don't panic it doesn't need to be posted until the end of May. I've not got very far with mine either. I've done the front cover and know what papers I'm using but I've come to a bit of a rut. I hope it's going to clear soon.

Apologies again for not letting you know there was a thread. I think it's so quiet on here because a lot of us are talking on the girlie whirlie thread, or at least I hope that's the reason ;).

I've not got a theme for mine either. I'm toying with a room 101 idea but I'm not sure how well it will work.

RozRoz
14-05-2006, 09:57 PM
I'm so relieved you two have not started your's yet, neither have I.

georgiamudfudge
14-05-2006, 11:14 PM
I em i think a room 101 theme is a brilliant idea.

Emmak
15-05-2006, 11:11 AM
Thanks Lynne. I'm not sure how well it will work. I was thinking that we would all have 3 loves and 3 hates (the hates go into room 101) and then the next person on the list could save one of your hates or put one of your loves in to Room 101. But not sure what would happen if no one did either! I guess it would still be a good reflection of people's loves and hates.

bethlee
15-05-2006, 12:37 PM
Erm...I'm panicking now, what's this about Room 101? I have no idea what I have to base my 2 pages on, could someone wake me up and enlighten me please? :)

Krystal Majik
15-05-2006, 04:40 PM
Hello well I've been thinking - did you hear the noise? I've eventually came to a decision about this CJ and I know you'll probably all hate me for it But if its okay with you all I quite fancy doing Things I Love/Hate About the Girl in the Mirror - hmmmmmm what do you think?

bethlee
15-05-2006, 07:31 PM
Yeah, but who is she? Doh, one of my brunette moments then......... I think that's a fab theme jacqueline, go for it. I'd need a huge book if that was my theme. Now, what can I do? I haven't thought of anything, or even made a start on what papers to use to even make the CJ with, I can see myself delaying you all.

Is it to be a page, say the left side on things you love, and the right side on things you hate? I really can't concentrate to think on this one. :(

Krystal Majik
15-05-2006, 07:44 PM
I think thats what its meant to be Beth although I'm just off and running now as I was completely stuck for ages then I had this blinding flash:wacko:

bethlee
15-05-2006, 07:48 PM
Do you know what.....I'm exactly like you Jacqueline, isn't it funny how we're quite similar in personalities etc, hee, hee. I take ages to think of these things, and then when I do, I've either got 1 day to do it all in, and then panic, get hot and flushed and make a mash of it. Some peeps can just think of these things like that, in a jiffy, but nope, not me. Must try and think of something now. I think I'll have ACTORS I LOVE AND ACTORS I HATE! You can guess who the loved ones are gonna be, can't you? Must think now what I'm gonna do. :)

Emmak
15-05-2006, 08:21 PM
Hi all. Beth, the room 101 is not set in stone, I'm still thinking about it, so don't panic. Room 101 was a t.v. show where celebrities would tell the host what things (a person, food, object, whatever) they would like to put in room 101 (under lock and key never to be seen again) and then the host would either agree or disagree. They had 4 nominations but only 3 would go into the room. They really had to argue why they wanted a particular thing in the room.

The layouts can be done however you want them to be done. So for instance you could have both pages as love and then under a flap on each page you could hide your hates. Whatever you want basically.

Jacqueline, I love your theme, it sounds fab. Beth, your idea is great, plenty of lovely men to drool all over! I already know my love - gonna have to be Johnny Depp! Do you both want me to add it to the first page as confirmed or are you still thinking about it?

bethlee
15-05-2006, 08:28 PM
I'm still gonna have to think about mine Emma, ta lovely. Will try not to be too long though. :)

Emmak
15-05-2006, 11:42 PM
No rush, Beth, so don't worry.

OK, I've just had another think about this and I think that the blinding flash that hit Jacqueline has come my way! My theme is now going to be childhood. I don't know everyone's personal details but I hope that it's not going to be a difficult topic for anyone. It can be anyone's childhood (so your children's would count) or just childhood in general. I'm not sure when you are legally an adult, is it 16 or 18? Anyway, which ever it is would be the cut off age. I hope that sounds ok to everyone!

I also thought it might be nice to do a brief intro about ourselves as although most of us have worked together on the other CJ there are some new peeps to us all. Oh, and perhaps we can ask a question, which the next person to reply should answer?

OK, here's me! I'm 32, married with a 10mth old son who refuses to eat anything off a spoon unless it's yoghurt! I've been scrapbooking for just under 7 mths (I think!) and I live in Herts which is where I am originally from but I've lived all over the UK from Southampton to Scotland. See my avator for what I look like (*seriously thinking about changing it, where do you all get your pics from?).

Q: What made you start scrapbooking?

RozRoz
16-05-2006, 12:07 AM
I started scrapping because my sister in law dragged me to a crop just over 2 years ago in February, I instantly fell in love with this addictive hobby, was previously a card maker and still am, but my passion is now changing to altering things, not altering in the arty farty way some people do, but little books and the likes of that instead. I'm 36, gonna be 37 in a few weeks, am married to Gerry and have one DS Ben who is 11 and a monster at the moment, but I love him to bits, I have a daft dog called Trevor or Fat boy depending on mood and I live in Scotland, but was born in London and raised in Manchester, so have a very strange accent.

My question to the next one who answers is Basic Grey or Doodlebug?

Krystal Majik
16-05-2006, 04:23 PM
HMMMMMM Doodlebug every time, love the colours, patterns and all the matching ribbons and embellishments!!!!
I am 35, married to Gary with three kids and a loopy old english sheepdog, live in Donside in Scotland on a beautiful country estate (very picturesque). I started to scrap about 2 years ago, fell into it through card making. I am a company secretary and partner in two businesses and a full time mum/scrapbooker, and do book keeping/accounts to fund my hobby!!!!!

Q. Whats your style, lumpy, plain, loads of photos, journalling?.......

Oh and my CJ is ready for posting!!!!!!!!:P

wyrdthing
16-05-2006, 07:28 PM
Q. Whats your style, lumpy, plain, loads of photos, journalling?.......
A. Yes! Well, I don't think I have a style yet - I suppose I'm plain mostly and I tend to either do a page about something with lots of pictures and journalling or a page just for the sake of it with less pictures and no journalling...

I'm 30, 31 in July, married for very almost a year with no kids and no pets. I live in Oxfordshire (born in Oxfordshire, lived all over... Oxfordshire!). I'm currently a Data Analyst but have just received the letter with my redundancy notice so am unemployed at the end of July - just started searching for the next thing I fancy doing! I have been scrapping for about a year and have (like everyone) far too much stuff and don't do a lot with it... I haven't started on this CJ at all yet

Q: Scrap "for the next generation" or for fun? :)

Castey

I scrap for something for future generations to look back on to see what my life (and others) was like. I also scrap for fun as if I didn't I wouldn't enjoy it and therefore wouldn't do it! I'd think it was something I had do to and not something I like to do.

I'm 25, single, no kids, no pets, no siblings - nothing. I still live at home (yes I know I'm nearly 26 and still live at home but the fact is I cannot afford a house of my own! Plus I like spending my money on stash and if I moved out I'd have no money for it!). I'm a legal secretary and have been for nearly 8 years! Can't believe it's been so long!! I've been scrapping for nearly 2 years and it was just a natural progression from cardmaking.

Q: Fave embellie?

bethlee
16-05-2006, 09:17 PM
Ooooh, fave embelly - let me think, don't think I like annnnnny...........!! Do I look like I have a big BUM? Yesssssss. Sorry, messing about then. Ermm, mine would be, at the mo, BRADS, though I do go through changes.

Rightio, grand introduction, (I don't think),

I'm Beth, 38, married for 14 years this July, and we have one darling little boy, Martyn aged 11 and a yorkshire terrier, (mad one at that), called Oz aged 4 this July. Live in Gwent, South Wales. Not presently in employment, but have had a few jobs ranging from Special Police Constable, Legal Secretary, Asst. Branch Secretary, worked in Sales too. Hope to either start up in something relating to my hobby, but would dearly love to work from home. Started card making about 5 years ago, and it gradually progressed into scrapbooking a year ago. I didn't think I'd be keen on it, and at first, thought that all the papers, embellys etc were all a bit over rated, and often distracted from the main issue, being the "photo", still feel the same mind, but at the same time, CANNOT resist the temptation to buy loads of stash! Slowly developing a love for altered art. Fave part of this hobby is rubber stamping, love the versatility of it all, and am endeavouring to involve it more within my scrapping. :)

Qu:- Are you a clean and simple OR a grungy/distressed type of scrapper?
I'm in between the two at the mo, and can see the fascination/appeal of both.

Noodle
16-05-2006, 11:02 PM
Hi all,

Well I am getting more into the whole grungy distressed kind of thing :) - But need to learn a bit more... I am probably in between too & am still enjoying learning new techniques (well sloshing loads of *stuff* about & calling it a technique )

A bit about me..... I am now 30 (Scary!!!) & divorced, live in Suffolk with my DOH & kitten named Blossom :). I am happy here but dream of emigrating to Canada or Austrailia, not sure of that will ever happen :(. I work full time as a Social Worker, with children from birth to 18 who are in care proceedings, foster placements or adoptive placements. I love my job, but enjoy my free time more! I like to travel & am making the most of being able to at the moment, I love scrapping but seem to like collecting stash more! I also like the general stuff, hanging out with my friends down the pub, going out for yummy food, cinema etc.... Usual suspects really.
I am looking forward to going to my first scrapping retreat in September, it's local & looks like it might teach me some interesting altering techniques :).

Urmmmmmm.... Is that enough?

Ok so next question: What are your top 5 scrapping essentials?

Mine (in no particular order) Bazzill, AMM Tote , Trimmer, Cheapy Dovecraft Tape rollers (great value refills just £1.50 & they work just fine) & Scenic Route (at the moment... changes often!)

I'm assuming that if I've already answered a question and introduced myself I leave the question for the next person? :)

Anyhow, I have also been hit by the inspiration that's going round and have decided on my theme. Inspired by Hannah's coloured tag CJ I'm going for a similar idea - you pick one colour (free choice) and choose things you like/love in that colour and things you dislike/hate in that colour. It doesn't have to be a favourite colour, just one that you can think of several things that are loves/hates. For instance, I'm not particularly fond of yellow but am going to choose yellow as I can think of several things that I hate that are yellow (bananas!!) and also several things that I like that are yellow too - and it will be a challenge to do a layout I like in a colour I wouldn't normally use.

Does that idea sound okay and make sense to people? For instance - you could choose brown and have Love: chocolate, brown clothes, wooden boxes; Hate: spiders, nuts, mud. Although I think chocolate should be outlawed or I'll get a monochrome CJ

Great idea...... but why not insist everyone has a different colour? I know it would get more challenging by the end... but I think that is part of the fun :). Then you woud have a pretty muti coloured CJ, just sitting here & thinking about colours & I'm sure I could do love & hates for most!

I'm still not sure about a theme :(.......... Waiting for that inspiration that seems to be flying around to head for Suffolk & hit!

I've never been on a retreat, but am going on the Scrapping Angels one in Sept :D. Emily Falconbridge from the US will be teaching (she contributed to the fab "Freestyle" book).... Also Kirsty (Wanna Scrap?), Anne Hafferman & Anna Bowkis (Bumblebee) will be there. Doing some altering too I think!

I have just heard that Scrapmanic sold out in a day :(....... There is also Scrapper Paradise in Oct, two girls from my local crop went last year & LOVED it, they made some fab stuff... one has already booked to go back :).

I saw the scrapping angels one and thought it looked rather fab. I liked the fact that they had an American scrapper doing some lessons. I was thinking about that one or the Scrappers Unlimited one. Apparently scrapcamp are about to announce something but they are taking too long, I'm worried that everyone else will sell out by the time they let us know what they are doing!

Hannah, could you measure my Cj cover and pages for me so I can make the ones that Mina had please? Thanks.

I hope to go, but tbh, funds will be short as we are hoping to go on our first proper hols abroad as a family, (once the passports have been finalised, not filled the forms in yet), so I think all the girls are excited about Elsie. Scary, how close the 29th of May is now, May seems to have just flown by!

OK, brain waves have arrived in scotland and now have two ideas but not sure what you will think of them.

First one: what you love/hate about your body
Second one: what you love/hate about men

Let me know what you think, cause I'm hoping to make my book this weekend.

I've not been to Cotswold Keepsakes yet but I only live 18.9 miles away (according to Multimap!) It's near Witney which is where I grew up, went to primary school and the place I lived more than half of my life, I'm now living near Abingdon but there's a non-sponsor scrapbook shop 2 miles from me so I go there if I'm not buying online or avoiding spending money
First one: what you love/hate about your body
Second one: what you love/hate about men
I would find the first one really difficult - well, the love part anyhow  But they're both good and challenging is fun.

Emmak
18-05-2006, 07:41 PM
.

First one: what you love/hate about your body
Second one: what you love/hate about men

Ermm, my answer to the top one might be that I hate all of it! But both would be a challenge, which is great as it will get me thinking! As long as you don't want photos of bits of our bodies mind! Or at least, you might get Jennifer Anniston's body parading as mine!

Good luck with all the decking and I hope you don't get too many splinters!

bethlee
18-05-2006, 07:44 PM
I can see the men one being fun to do, spesh the hate part, re hating their disgusting habits, and other habits, which aren't really habits, but that's another story..................

I really hope I can get to make mine up before the 29th. I don't have any time really on the weekend, as I'm off to my first 12 hour crop, though I won't be staying the 12 hours, as it will be my first time to drive there on my own, and am nervous of new places etc, but if I get a chance on sunday, I doubt it though, I will start it, though I have no idea what my theme is going to be. Any suggestions and help here for me please lovely girls? :)

Love all your themese to date, and I spend so long doing the pages, let alone making the journal aswell. I just hope I don't let you all down in delaying you.

Emmak
19-05-2006, 09:59 AM
Beth, if it's hard to come up with a theme you could just do a CJ without a theme or ask people to chose 5 of each. At least when you are at your crop you will be able to pick up some pretty papers to decorate your CJ and you never know you might be able to spend some time there on your CJ, but if not, don't worry, just let me know if you don't think you'll be able to make the deadline.

How is everyone else getting along with theirs? Do we need to extend the first deadline or does everyone else think they will be ready in time. I'm a bit worried about Fay as I've not heard from her. I sent her a pm last week to ask her to come and join us but I've had no reply. I'll have another try but it may be that we will have to go down to 9 people. I'll let you know.

Hi girls, sorry i have not been around that much lately but work has been hectic and life at home seems even more. Emma, i am fine with the deadline but if we need to move it back that is no problem. Also, i think i have messed mine up. Are we doing one thing we hate OR one thing we love about each of the themes or are we doing one thing we love AND hate. Oh no!

As far as the question goes, my top 5 scrapbooking essentials are number one and most often used is my eyelet setter, flowers (i love flowers) alphastickers(although next month i am goind to look at buying my first stamp set), a ruler and some gooooood music.

bethlee
19-05-2006, 12:01 PM
Thanks for that Emma. :) Though I'm totally lost now, what is this about choosing 5 things? Is that 5 things about love, and 5 about hate? I've come down with this awful scratchy throat, and cough, my head is bumping, managed to just clean and down save doing it sunday, and am sweltering. I have so much to do, but feel so yuk. Oh well, I have to go on, us women do, don't we? Sorry to be confusing about all of this.

Emmak
20-05-2006, 09:57 AM
Lynne, I think we need to do something we love and hate about each of the themes, or at least that's what I was planning on doing. But your CJ is completely up to you, so if you just wanted people to chose one thing that they love or hated then that would be fine as well.

Beth, the five things that you love and five things that you hate was just an idea for you that you could perhaps use for your CJ, you don't have to do it.

For instance my topic is childhood and I have come up with 4 things that I love about childhood and 4 things that I hate and I will do a page on each. But once I get started on the LO I may discover that I don't have enough room and do fewer.

Does that all make sense or have I confused everyone even more? Basically, just do whatever you want for your own CJ and we will just follow your instructions.

Um... If there is an extension going, I wouldn't mind one actually... I can probably get it on time if everyone else is okay, but having the bank holiday weekend (which I won't have because I am an awkward so-and-so and can only go to the post office on Saturdays  ) would really help... It's my own fault for having not started on the last Girlie Wirlie one with the same deadline

bethlee
20-05-2006, 10:55 AM
Funnily enough, I was going to post to say the same. Apart from being bogged down by this and that, I have now developed a yuk cold, cough, and feel poo poo, and if this is okay with everyone else, even if it's by a few days, that would be grand. :) Don't normally have colds, but if I do, they're about 18 month between each other, so shouldn't grumble. I really hope it's not going to turn into tonsilitis, that is the pits, had it 5 years ago, and was a bit poorly. So, I have the house to myself till 1pm, when hubby comes home from o/t, Martyn has just gone out with Grandma and Grandad for the day, as initially I was supposed to be going to the crop in Stroud, that's 2 cancelled this week now for me, not my lucky time, so Martyn has gone anyway. Will go back to bed in a min, not like me to lay about in the day either. Oh well. Hopefully I can start on CJ, not even made it yet, on Monday, if better. Thanks girls. :)

Have a good day okay? :)

Emmak
20-05-2006, 05:00 PM
Beth, sorry to hear about the cold and the fact that you have missed two crops because of it. The crop I go to is only once a month and it's always really annoying if I miss it becuase I then have to wait ages until the next one!

Ok, the general consensus seems to be that people would like some more time. If I extend the deadline to the Friday (2nd June) of the same week will that be long enough or do people need the extra weekend as well? If you have already completed your entry you can still post it on to the next person for the original deadline, but please post on here to let us know that you have done so, so that I can keep track of where all the CJs are. Thanks.

Emma said:-

OK, we'll push the posting date back until Friday 2nd June and that should give enough time to those who need it. If you are posting before, please let us know so that your postee can keep an eye out for it and so that I know where they all are.

Hannah - I'm quite relieved that we've extended it, though I think some, if they had finished, were going to send as per the original date. So, it's entirely up to you, but I'm sure Emma will shed some light as to what she thinks. :)

Hi everyone, Beth glad you're feeling a bit better, love your subject although I can think of loads more hates than loves - maybe its time for a shopping spree! Will post mine on the 29th to Casey as she is off on her hols at the end of the week will update when its in the hands of the RM! - gulp! Here we go again!

Thanks Jacqueline. I can think of lots more hates, but the ones I love, I'm wearing nearly all the time, will be worn away before too long, spesh with my fat bum in them! I don't wear much of the other stuff in there, mostly old clothes, that I think I will lose weight and end up fitting in them. So I've taken photos of the things I wear often, and a 2 or 3 of the ones I don't like on me. All I hope is that I haven't got the dog's tail on the end of one of them, as he was snoozing on the bed, whilst I was taking the photos! Not checked them out yet.

Wow, I've missed so many posts!

Lynne, sorry to hear that you had to be rushed into hospital but glad to hear that you are ok now.

There is no rush as the original posting date was the 29th (I'd obviously not realised that it was a Bank Holiday when I originally came up with the dates). I have extended the date until Friday 2nd June for those who need a bit more time. I was going to say that it would be ok to post ahead of that date but since the other CJ has not finished yet I'm going to have to ask everyone to wait and post after the 30th (i.e. and up to the Friday 2nd). This is just because I officially need my trader rating from Nicky before I can allow you all to get started. Sorry! The other CJ date has been pushed back until 26th so we should still be ok for the 30th. Clear as mud?!

I'll aim to get the 'Where is my CJ?' table up and running soon as well. It will be on the first page so you can always check to see where your CJ is.

Beth, I'm so pleased that you've not had to pull out, I'd hate to lose you. I love your theme as well, sounds great.

There is only 9 of us in the group now as Sweetiegirl (Fay) hasn't got back to me or posted since she originally wanted to join, so I'm going to have to assume that she is no longer interested. This does mean a slight change to the posting. Sam you'll now be posting to Roz and I'll pm you her addy in a minute.

Lynne, I keep meaning to ask you how you came up with your UKs name.

Hi girls. Here is the story behind my name. Before i moved to the U.K i moved to the U.S and once a week a group of south african friends all met at an ice-cream parlor called Dairy Queen. The first time i tried an ice-cream there i had a georgiamudfudge and i feel totally in love with it. Yum Yum!! And that was the only thing i would ever buy from dairy queen. Somehow the name just stuck and i have been using it ever since. Krystal, now you know why it makes you feel hungry...hehe

I will hold onto my journal until next week and then post it - that actually makes it easier for me too.

Hope everyone has a good day

Hi all. Beth, fortunately I found the POP so I'm just hoping that they still turn up as the PO office that they went from seems to be much slower than the main PO. I don't use it now if I can help it.

Great news, we have a 10th person joining us. Michelle, aka Mouse1981, is a friend of Hannah's who has just joined UKS :D . Hannah promises to keep her in line (although I'm sure she won't need to:P ) and she'll post to me as she lives near Hannah anyway. I hope that this won't have messed up any of your CJs if you've dropped the pages down to 9 entries. I hope this is ok with everyone and welcome to the group Michelle.

Jaqueline, how do you manage to post all of your pages under the one entry for your CJ in your gallery?

Emmak
27-05-2006, 11:02 AM
Can I just remind people that when they post their CJ to put it in a large enough jiffy bag that it will take the extra width when more pages are added to it. I've just received one from another group that is at the first stage and has been jammed into the jiffy bag, so now I need to go and get another one. Which isn't a problem, just a bit of an inconvenience. Thanks.

Hi Emma, glad you found the POP, well done. I think the logo you linked to, (typed licked then, ha, ha), I think it has to be uploaded to Photobucket or similar host, then the link from that, is it IMG needs to go into our signature line, then it should appear, though I'm probably wrong, as this sort of thing is double dutch and triple french to me. I'll try it after anyway, see if it works.

So, how many of us are there now, I've cut 10 tags, but can do more, no problem. :)

Also, welcome to our CJ Michelle, hope you'll enjoy it with us, I think you will. :)

I'm off to Tenerife, my best friend lives there so get to spend some quality time with her, I'm looking forward to it, but DH & DS are not coming with me so will miss them so much.

Have to start thinking about what I'm going to be taking though clothes wise, my friend always sends me a shopping list and my case ends up half filled with stuff for her that is quite heavy, like cleaning fluids and the such so I have to be careful in what I take.

There is a brilliant little craft shop in Los Crist that I love to go to whilst there, I always take one of Janets classes as well, so I'm excited about that as well.

Hope everyone has a good bank holiday weekend B)

Emma - will continue with my CJ this week, despite it being half term, as it is busy, as usually, hubby is off for a week, but he's working this time, so as to save his hols in case we go away before peak time. I've cut 10 tags, or maybe it was more, not worked on any crafting since Tuesday.

Hi all :D,

Well I completed the front cover of my CJ a while ago..... Just made it a generic love/hate cover..... But have had a total change of heart for the inside , I had 10 little themes to do love & hates on, but it all seemed a bit vague & meaningless (or "blah" as my teenagers seem to say all the time at the moment.... not my own actual teenagers btw; the ones i work with )...

So anyway I was thinking about doing "Love & Hate - Dreams and fears for the future" - But want to run it past you all first... You can be as deep or shallow as you like!! lol, as I know sometimes talking about fears will be difficult.... But think around the theme & you could do something about the little girl you once were.... what would you have loved to have been or acheived? What did you imagine you might hate or fear? Were these realistic... Who are you now? Have you faced some of your fears & come out the other side?

BUT - You could do a lovely page of more simple loves & hates..... Dreams of a gorgeous new bedroom in the colours you love (so the LO could have these in i.....) & fears of something you would hate like your Garden dying in a drought? (hmmmm that is a *bit* bleak I must admit!!)....

Urm.... would you LOVE to fit into a favourite dress in the wardrobe? Do you HATE that you seem to be turning into your Mum??? Or feel frumpy??

Or on a deeper level would you love to find something new.... are you searching for happiness? a baby? .............Would you fear/hate to imagine life without something?

Hmmmm now I have typed all this out you can probably see I am not really sure what I am blithering on about! But opinions would be welcome.....

Sorry I'll go now & come back when I have thought this through a bit more!

H xx

Sound ok?

30-05-2006, 07:35 PM

Hiya all, I'm nearly there with my CJ, have spent quite a while on it today, and hope to get it finished before Friday, but kids are off schooll, and there are so many other things that need doing, but I will hurry on with it.

Just wondered, if any one can help me please? I'm trying to print out some photos for this CJ, using Photoshop CS2, very, very new to it too, and want them roughly 5cm x 6cm (w by h), and am getting awful muddled with the resizing, as since I've had a new camera, the pixels are a lot more, hence the file being bigger. My photos are roughly 3488 x 2616 pixels, or 2.15MB jpeg, (it's a 9 million pixel camera), and I've tried resizing using image size, then cropping after that, but when I go to zoom in on pic before printing, it's all pixelated.

Maybe I shouldn't zoom in, and just print it off in draft?

Only, after resizing etc, it reduces the picture to about 1"x1" (that's from looking at it on the screen mind), so I don't know. I know I need to resize it first, cos when I printed first one off, although I just cropped it only, it came out the size of the A4 sheet, but I had not resized it the first time.

If anyone can help, I'd be ever so grateful, but I need these photos to go in my CJ. Arghhh, so frustrating, and I just wanna get on with it, instead of spending hours fiddling with Photoshop, when I have more time, that would be better then. :)

Thanks girls.

Emmak
30-05-2006, 10:01 PM
Beth, I'm having the same problem as you with the resizing. Someone started a thread on the general board that might be able to help. I'm going to try and download them into Word and then do it that way. Mind you, I'm no good at reading the measurements for Word either so I think I'll just have to do it by trial and error and hope that no one looks too closely. I think you don't need to zoom in though.

Talking of resizing... I had a go with uploading this and putting it in my signature but it comes up with a message saying pictures have to be smaller than 175x100 pixels so I tried resizing but when I save the program I use optimises the image and it looks splodgy.

Oh Michelle, if you can help, you'd be a little darling, honest. I'm not too technically minded, but once it's clicked, I'm okay, it's just getting it clicked thats the prob. Any help would be lovely, ta. :)

I've tried to sort this little problem out:- When in Photoshop CS, I've tried reducing my images, which are rather big is size, as they are from a 9 million pixel camera, and on either basic or fine quality, so I want to reduce them in size first, and then crop to about, eg 6cm x 5cm, (little tiny pics), and I'm following the guidelines, but when \I look at the pics, they are not as clear as they look on screen, they seem only very very slightly blurred, hardly anything, but I can tell. Any help would be very advantageous, cos I'm doing my head in. Maybe I'm not doing it the right way round, I don't know. I've cropped first, then resized them in Image Size, then, altered the resolution from 72 to 200, (is that right), confused on that score. Then okayed it, saved it, then it says about being 8 is medium, (medium quality), so I just click ok.

Thank you. :)

Hi all. I think some people just tend to come on CJ threads when they have received or posted their CJ. I've been doing the TP CJ and although I'm sure that the girls on there are just as lovely as you all are, I just don't seem to spend much time on that thread. I really should mind you. Hannah, it's good to know that Claire is your 'leader' and you know that she is about.

Jaqueline, I don't think the team logo is quite right yet. I've asked someone to have a look at it as I tried to load it on to my sig and it was coming up as being too large. Michelle, are you any good at resizing logos as well ;)

Don't worry Beth, I'm sure it's all swings and roundabouts anyway. I've completed my book but not yet started my entry (opps!) so I'll be doing that tonight and then I should get it in the post to Anne-Marie tomorrow.

I'm off to a scrap at the weekend, my first in months and I'm really looking forward to it. I need to think about my layouts in advance though otherwise I'll just sit there for hours racking my brains. I've only got loads of baby pics though and I'm getting a bit bored of them!

Does anyone fancy joining a photo swap then? (inspired by the "It's all about you" challenge in the CC)..... I was going to set one up after the page kit swap for our team members.... But if anyone else might fancy a go at scrapping a totally new pic I'll do an open swap?.... We swap pics, scrap them & post back to the pic's owner?....

This is mainly as I have animal pics to scrap!!! And love doing different ones.... I have a pic of Nickibee's (uks member) daughter to scrap & am really looking forward to it .....

Sorry just more random mumblings!....

I'm nearly there on my CJ, but I'm awfully sorry but it won't go out tomorrow, have only done half an hour about 6pm tonight, and with kids off too. Not complaining, just explaining the circs. Plus, I know the extended deadline was for me in particular, so I am grateful to everyone, just don't want to hold those up who have already posted theirs.
I'm the same I'm afraid - I hope you don't mind waiting an extra day or two as I'm posting to you  I'm just useless at the moment, and it was me who asked for the extended date too  When's the next posting date?

That's true, how would the photo swap work, I guess we would be sending the page back to the photo's owner?

Thanks Emma.:)

I would have loved to take part in the photo swap, but I have promised myself not to take anymore on, on here, in the way of CJ's, swaps etc, as I think I've slightly over loaded myself, and what with "life" aswell, am not able to cram it all in, as much as I love saying yes to this and that, I think we just get carried away with all the excitement, and then the deadlines come, (moreso with CJ's , you know, bigger projects/time commitment), and there's a mad rush then.

I like to take my time personally, and am a slow scrapper/creator  and plus I don't even work at present, so thumbs up to those who do, and get it all done aswell. I only craft one or two days a week too. Anyway, maybe another time, I don't know if any of you girls do the same as me, ie join in all these things, then find the time runs out?

Yes, a photo swap is just that.... a group randomally swap photos (or just email them if we all have printers etc....).... Then we get to have a bit of a challenge by scrapping a totally new pic.... and yes post back to the photo's owner.... You then get a pic of yours scrapped for you & sent back :D.

Particularly good if you have some photos for a LO & you really don't know what to do with them!

Anyway..... You would both make scrummy LO's! As you have in all our CJ's.... Anyway this is just an idea... open to suggestions. If we did an 8" x 8" LO would that feel better?

(ps- If I host a swap there really is no pressure for you guys to join... but suggestions & ideas on this theme would be welcome before I think about starting it :D)

I am just like you Beth! That's why I didn't originally join this CJ..... as although I REALLY wanted to; I had commited to Smurfie's TPDW one & knew I couldn't do more. I have stopped taking part in swaps for the time being to, apart from team ones (well I also do an open swap alongside the team ones... but I only host direct swaps where peeps post to each other rather than to me & I have to post out again! Such a lazy host )

But I would rather do this than get totally overloaded... I probably only get 1 scrapping day a fortnight :(....

Thanks Hannah, that makes sense. It would depend on dates but I'd still be interested. 8x8 might be easier as it would be (theoretically) quicker to do and less pressure to fill the page.

Beth, did you get your photos sorted out? I did mine in Word in the end and worked out how to resize them by clicking on the photo once inserted and then format picture and then it lets you chose the size. I'm not sure whether that will help you with your quality or not though.

Robert was up early this morning with a really high temperature. It seems to have come down somewhat but I'm hoping that he'll sleep for a while so I can get my cj finished!

Hmmmm.......when should they have expected it to arrive Emma? Is it overdue? I'm not sure really, but at a guess, or if it was me, I would probably instigate the procedure, (cor, big words there for 9.20 in the morning). Unless you get any more feedback on this, I would contact Royal Mail etc and go from there. Not much help I know.

I'm so thick honestly, so will apologize now

I'm up for a challenge like this anyway, if any body fancies having a pic of what ever I send them, it will probably be of Ben my DS or even one of my dear cat who is sadly no longer with us.

Who ever is posting CJ to me, don't panic if I don't post I;ve received it, will reply when I get back from hols, B)

Take care everyone and I'll catch you all in two weeks time,

Thanks guys. I'd better head to the PO and get the form today then.

This may be a bit of an odd idea but I've just found 4 6x6 los of me that I did for our team book down the side of my computer. I wondered if anyone on here would want to swap for similar page about themselves and I'll add it to my team book. Sounds a bit odd I know, and they are not the best LOs in the world as I did them when I first started on here but it just seems a shame to throw them out.

Actually, now I've thought about it, I'm not sure why anyone would want a LO with me on it anyway! Excuse the mutterings of a mad woman. It's my first time of the month in almost 2 years and I think it's sent me slightly dolally. See I can tell that you are all slowly walking away from the computer!

Roz and Hannah have absolutely fab holidays and I look foward to hearing more when you get back. Would it be helpful to have people's holiday dates on the first page or would that seem a bit of a security issue?

Oh Emma, first time in 2 years, oh dear, hope your alright lovely, I know things go like this, don't even ask me about them, you'll all be running from the pc, not walking away. Thinking of you anyway. :)

Just to say........................wait for it......................I'VE FINISHED MY CJ! Does anyone need help with picking themselves up off the floor?  Spent nearly all day on it saturday, finishing it off, thing is, it's quite bulky, and I have a funny feeling the 1" book rings are not going to be big enough, as it goes on it's journey.

So, what I thought, (yes, lots of steam and smoke coming from my ears), Whichever one of you girls receives my CJ, and feel, when you put your pages in, that it is getting really difficult, please, by all means, take mine out, and just wrap separately with the rest of the CJ, when you go to pack it up to send to the next person. I just hope it's not going to be too costly. I'm sounding about it as if I have metal pages in it, it's not so much heavy, just a bit bulky, with light stuff in it. Anyway, any probs, just shout, we'll sort it out. :)

Also, I've cut up the pages (6x6) in black and turquoisey coloured cardstock, only I thought it wasn't worth using the nicer card like Bazzill etc, (one because I haven't got a lot left in the colours I wanted to use anyway), and thought well, they're gonna be covered over anyway. So, excuse the NOT so contrast pages!

Right, I've said my sermon, getting down off the box now, hee, hee.

Couldn't come back on here last night, as our pc encountered these spyware threats, and said that the registry and file system had Spy Sheriff, and was extremely dangerous. I nearly pooped myself, cos hubby was at this Rock Festival, and I didn't know what to do, plus it said that our Symantec virus wasn't enabled. It's been adding folders in my document folder, really weird, and I've been wondering what it was, and thinking, I didn't create that folder. Anyway, Simon has done a restore, and is getting new adware downloads. This spyware were all the Trojan Back Door type, we've had one of those last year, an absolute pig to rid. I guess we should back up everyday. Does anyone do that?

Also, what does everyone else use as they Virus protection and Spyware protection? It's worth knowing. Thanks girls. Definately going now, cos Corrie is on.

Good morning girls, another nice one too. Looks good for all week aswell.

Aww, thanks Georgia, (though I think I read in earlier messages that your name is different, lol), I've heard good reports about MacAffee, though I've been told by hubby that McAffee is just a virus package and cannot prevent spyware, which is what our prob is at the mo. Oh I dunno, I let Simon get on with that side of it too. But it certainly isn't right. Anyway, thanks for telling me Georgia, all info helps, doesn't it? :)

Hi all, Just a quick message before I am off B).... Michelle has been stressed out about her CJ (and she will be really mad with me when she reads this ).... So I have been telling her not to worry, that we all felt the same on our first CJ & the fact that she only had a few days to get a book together... no one will expect it to be perfect etc... I have told her how lovely you all are  & am asking that you look after her whilst I'm away! Please! Thanks (I know I can trust you all to do that).

Anyway the problem is half solved - I will be posting my CJ to Emma today (as originally planned) & Michelle will give me hers when I return from hols....

So whoever is posting to me - I will pass the CJ to Michelle for her to do the first entry & she will pass to me & so on..... And we will continue like that so they don't get out of sequence, if that is ok. Of course you can post to Michelle directly in the future if you prefer, Emma had the addy.

Hmmmm well I hope that kind of made sense! Please all take good care or yourselves & each other whilst I'm away, I look forward to catching up when I'm back :).

Oh and I'm going to upload some pics of my CJ in a mo, so keep an eye out!

Not had chance to pack it up today, and hate rushing to do that job, gotta be calm and collected, bit like a stake-out! So, Sam should receive it by Wednesday then.

Talking of Sam, how are you lovely, not seen you, unless I've missed you!

Sam, yes, it was a WUBE paper kit. Lorraine got them in for Bonanza when the supplier mentioned that someone was doing a bonanza class with them. They are fab, although my magnetic paper does seem to have warped somehow and does not sit straight on the fridge.

Beth, the WUBE papers are fab. Ther have a magnetic backing so you can use them as fridge magnets etc. I don't know if you can even call them paper to be honest as they are quite thick, but they cut in a paper trimmer and you can use them as you would other paper. Hi all. I've posted my magnetic LO in my gallery if anyone wants to take a peak. The link that Sam posted is for the girl who runs the crop that I went to at the weekend and who designed the page kit that I used. OK, I'm just about to upload the table showing where everyone's CJ is (if I can work it out). Can everyone please take a look and let me know if I have made any mistakes or missed anything out please? Thanks. The little map like symbol means that you are in possession of that CJ. The brown book symbol means that you have completed that CJ and posted it on to the next person. 'In the post' means that CJ is in the post to that person. Actually, I'm pretty sure that I've made some mistakes so please let me know.

Please let me know as and when you receive or post on your CJs. Thanks. I've also done a quick summary below just in case the table is confusing.

Roz has got Sam’s CJ
Michelle has got her CJ and Lynne's CJ
Anne-Marie has got Emma’s CJ and her own CJ
Hannah’s CJ is in the post to Emma and she has no CJs
Lynne's CJ is in the post to Hannah
Jacqueline has Roz's CJ
Jaqueline's CJ is in the post to Claire
Claire is on her hols at the moment but probably has Jacqueline's CJ and her own?
