Just bought some this afternoon for altering- from the £1 shop! - can anyone help with what i do to prepare them and what sort of things can be used on them?
the dominoes are plastic the coasters are cork with a shiny picture on the top

nor sure about dominos but i would peime the coasters with watered down pva glue before you do anything :)

You don't need to do much with the dominoes - if you're using alcohol inks then apply them directly. If painting then lightly sand then to provide a good key.

I learn't on saturday to ink the dominoe's with Tim Holtz inks, then stamp with a nice stamp (doesn't matter if it's larger than dominoe) and staz-on, then edge with krylon pen. I made mine into a mini domino book - as taught by Chrisrj :wub:

Think the use of alcohol inks only applies to the plastic ones (dominoes), with most others (wooden), I think acrylic would do.

I used my ink pad to cover the domino with colour then stamped on an image with stazon then covered it all with clear embossing powder and heated with heat gun...when cool stamped over the domino with versamark pad and coated again with clear embossing powder and heated with heat gun ...look lovely

Here is a link to LO I've done using a coaster, just gave it a few licks of paint added my monogram and cut offs and gave it a coat of diamond glaze. the one I used was like chipboard tho not cork:
