iM CONFUSED!
Standard playing cards-i understand they are the correct size for atc's, being 21/2 by 31/2 inches. One problem-i cant seem to find 'standard' playing cards anymore!!!!!!!!!!
All the 'standard' cards ive found are smaller in size-31/2 long but slimmer?!
Have standard playing cards become smaller or am i looking in the wrong place?!
I know you dont need actual playing cards, but i need them for my next set of atc's-i would like to actually alter playing cards.:P
Does 1/4 of an inch really make a differance?Or would they not be considered atc's if i used these smaller cards?

They are just not regarded as "official" ATC's if the dimensions are wrong. I also bought a pack of playing cards and realised I have the "Skinny" version too! So I have raided DS1's Pokemon trading card stash instead...they're perfect and once altered he will never know :P (I am forever picking them up from around the house and threatening to bin them anyway!! )
Jane has posted a sticky thread at the top of the Altered forum about ATC's...take a look and everything should be crystal clear. HTH

oh!
I thought they might not be 'official' if they wern't the exact size!
Have been on ebay tho......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say i am now the proud owner (well they are paid for anyway!)of several packs of playing cards!!
I forgot myself for a moment and went mad!The differant designs, shapes and sizes you can get are just endless!!!!!!(I think the a4 playing cards that were for sale on there might be a bit on the big side!)
I will have a look at the thread you suggested as well.
many thanks

good morning willow, are you having a good week? :)
If you want to trade for other ATC's the one rule is that they must be 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Pokemon cards, Yu Gi Oh cards etc are all the correct size, Poker playing cards are also the correct size. Playing cards are usually too small. Why not cut some card out to size and use that?

Well I swapped a few last year that were standard playing cards, not even thinking that they wouldn't be "regulation" size :o so apologies to those peeps who got my substandard ones... 'Twas done out of ignorance rather than malice....

OOOh, apologies to anyone who got a "non-regulation" card from me .. I too used some smaller playing cards without realising. Sorry, pardon. I think the ones in the tin from the T shop are OK.

Oh! what have i started!?!!!!!!!!!!!
i think we have all have done this and didn't realise the size. If you have them made just stick them on some card the proper size, that what I ended up doing:D

Ive now found (after much searching) some playing cards of the correct size! In fact now i have so many i dont know what to do with them!!!
Ive found that new cards are the wrong size, but the older cards seem to be correct...

went to a charity shop on a trawl yesterday- found a pack of 'animal snap' made by Early learning centre that are exactly the right size- I think they still do them- so i would look for kids playing cards ladies :)

Ok, its the early learning centre for me on monday then!
Thanks for the tip!
You could always buy football trading cards from the newsagents...the ones Ds buys are 6 for 35p...not exactly cheap but easy to come by.
