Hiya,
I was just wondering if anyone could suggest various items for altering. I realise that almost anything can be transormed but I was thinking that people here must have altered some strange things as well as have personal favourites and tips on where to find things for altering.
Thanks in advance for any advice or tips.

To be honest you can alter anything. My boyfriend did a sponge pudding the other night for afters and I kept both tins. Thought they'd be great for bits and bobs on my desk.
Tins of all sorts are very popular, from little mint tins (eg Altoids) to large coffee or biscuit tins. Then there are microscope slides, CDs, mini-disks and dominoes - plus anything else that takes your fancy!
One of the more unusual things I've seen, tho as part of a project rather than a whole one, was foam shelf liner - cover it with metal or coloured embossing powder and heat - looks completely different!

I have a great selection of items for altering, the 'keeper box' is very popular, we have paint cans and coaster sets too.

wow, i love the tins! 3rd one is my favourite.
how did you do the lettering on the hannah banana one? is it stamps? if yes could you please tell me which ones?
i'm going to have to do some hunting for items to alter now! found a few cd's and cd cases, tubs and things, now i really want a mint tin!! :)
i'm spoilt for choice as to what to try first!!
one more question - do you prime metal things somehow before working on them?

The stamps for the HannahBanana are Mixed Alphabet Letters by Hero Arts.
I dont prime the tins cos I just work on paper cut it out and then stick the altered paper onto the tin with super strong PVA glue.
Glad you like it!
